  1. But he played there in his youth days? So, it's not like he doesn't have the know-how of how to play in that position. Plus his versatility to play as a CB and DM would be valuable.
  2. He has been there for ages, spent hundreds of millions and been nothing more than a cup team. Won the league once and has barely challenged Real Madrid and Barcelona for the title in other seasons, even when they are both flopping at the same time. They are hard to beat but there is nothing progressive about them and are more of a workaholic side than anything else. Am sure there are Atletico fans who crave for something more exciting after all these years.
  3. Someone mentioned Southampton recently, which wouldn't be a bad club. They need someone to replace Hojbjerg, I'd reckon.
  4. And he just scored against Roma.
  5. On the day we beat Barcelona 8 years ago...
  6. Nothing concrete apart from the usual Juventus rumors.
  7. Your obsession with Mount is...not healthy.
  8. Allegri? Simeone? No thanks. It'll be another 180 degrees turn on the playing style again.
  9. Nagelsmann is a decent shout but it is still debatable.
  10. Lampard could do what Ranieri did in the early 2000s. He built the foundation of the side before Mourinho came in and took the club to another level. Would be great if Lampard can lead us to trophies of course but if it's not him, I wonder who will be our Mourinho this time.
  11. But everything went downhill after that...
  12. So, this really came down to the years offered with the contract? In any case, hope he fails miserably there.
  13. Not gonna happen. The Chinese FA introduced salary cap last year to prevent clubs from spending fortunes on foreign players and to encourage clubs to invest on local players instead.
  14. The problem with Willian is his main strengths, as Jype pointed out above, are his pace and workrate. Are those physical attributes still gonna be there in 2-3 years? Unlikely. He might still be decent but unlikely able to play at the highest level anymore. Plus, it is not like he has the creativity, vision or technical ability a la David Silva, for example, to compensate for that.
  15. I know, I know but unless Arsenal have a crystal ball to look into the future and know he will still be good 2-3 years from now, giving the 3+1 deal is dumb. If Willian goes downhill from here, they are gonna have problems selling him because no other sane club in Europe will want to buy him and can afford his wages, unless Willian decides to take a pay cut. Based on what you said there, the additional year could then present a problem in the remaining length of the contract. It's almost as if Arsenal are not taking the signal that we aren't offering him more than 2 years.
  16. It's stupid how Guardiola has escaped criticism for his defensive flops. City have spent over 300 million on defenders since he took over and only Walker and Laporte have turned out decent.
  17. Yes but are they really that desperate to offer another year as option on top of what is already a silly long term deal for a 32-year-old?
  18. Inter v Leverkusen in the Europa League quarter finals next Monday. Inter not very good against Getafe tonight but getting away with it thanks to individual quality.
  19. Arsenal are basically offering Willian a 4-year-deal. JFC! How desperate are they!?
  20. Matt Law with the latest on Willian... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/08/05/arsenal-press-willian-negotiations-despite-staff-redundancies/
