And the next one is about 3 weeks away...
-
Yes but if we could avoid getting a big team in the Round of 16 and get past the round, then that would be nice for a change! There's no guarantee Christensen will play... And there's more room for error at this point in the Premier League compared to the Champions League group stage.
-
We have 4 days between Sevilla and Man United and the only travelling involved is between London and Manchester... As for the Champions League group, I am pleased with the group we got but since we haven't proven that we are able to put away the lesser sides consistently yet, am not taking Krasnodar and Rennes for granted (the trip to Russia is gonna be tough). Moreover, if we want to qualify AND finish top of the group, we likely have to beat Sevilla.

This is what Lampard said about Ziyech in full... https://metro.co.uk/2020/10/16/frank-lampard-hakim-ziyech-chelsea-debut-13433952/

It's easy for us to sit down here and complain about this when we don't know how's the exact condition of Silva after playing for Brazil and traveling all the way back from there. And even if you don't want to accept that argument, then what about that second one? We were always going to have to pick and choose the games for Silva to play anyway.
-
Training is different from playing. He's had an injury and played only 30 minutes in the last 6-7 months. Am glad that Ziyech is back fit but just like Pulisic in the last game, I'd rather we ease him in than just throw him straight back into action and risk another injury, which happened a lot last season because we rushed players back.
-
You gotta factor the traveling, jet lag etc. He's 36, not 26. And furthermore, we knew when we signed Silva that he's not gonna start every single game. So, I don't get what's the fuss around this.
-
It's because he came back late from international duty...
-
Mendy not fit. Silva won't be available after returning late from international duty. Pulisic fit to play. Ziyech fit to play but not ready to start. Chilwell fit to play.
-
Looks like Mendy will be the only one who will miss the game. We'll know more from Lampard's presser at 1:30pm UK time later...

I don't mean this window specifically, just in general. Every season, we just loan out all these players and they all just seem to accept it (and some complain about it later on). Do they not want to settle down at a club, in a country etc rather than constantly move around every season?
-
Not aiming at Moses but find it bizarre that these players that we constantly loan out don't take charge of their career and just tell the club "enough is enough. I want to go somewhere to get settled down". Instead, they seem content to just get loaned out every season and in some cases, they complain about the club's loan system somewhere down the line.

International football just ended yesterday and Bayern are already back playing today...
-
You make our situation look rather desperate when it's not.
-
The thing is (a) we don't know when exactly Silva got back to England and (b) he's already 36 years old. He may not be able to just brush off the jet lag etc like it's nothing and plus, we have Sevilla to come on Tuesday. Think we knew from the start that Silva wasn't going to be able to play every game. So, I won't be surprised if Lampard rests him for this one especially when we have Sevilla to come on Tuesday.

So all those posts of people getting excited about Haaland...
-
Romano may be reliable but I don't see what's the point of talking so much about Haaland right now when (a) any potential transfer move for him is like 9-10 months away (b) only Romano himself has said this. If more sources start saying the same thing, then I'll be more than happy to join the conversation. Otherwise I don't see what's the point of talking about something that just came off from one person. And we will buy players next summer for sure but if you want to talk about Haaland, go ahead. I am just more interested to see how Lampard develops this team first before worrying about who we will buy next summer.

It turned out that Liverpool were able to negotiate a fee structure with Wolves for Jota, meaning they didn't have to pay 40 million upfront immediately. Werner had a release clause and I believe Leipzig wanted that fee to paid up right away. And I also believe Jota is on lower wages than Werner would have gotten there.

Yes but think we also got lucky that the other clubs suffered financial hits from the pandemic. If the pandemic had not happened, I highly doubt we would have gotten Havertz and Werner for example as easily as we did. Bayern or Real Madrid would have likely signed Havertz and Liverpool may well have gotten Werner before we suddenly swooped in.
