For a striker of his quality, that is nothing. Even if his movement & positioning was good, it was hardly a class goal. Just a tap-in goal like he always does.
Mikel, Lampard and Meireles played in a midfield 3 in the first game and almost a flat one too with Ramires & Mata tucking in narrow from the wide areas. Did that for the second leg as well.
RDM could go with 4-3-3 with Mikel, Lampard and Essien in midfield and deploying Mata and Kalou out wide but that will just negate the strengths of the former and would leave us expose defensively.
True but at the end of the day, he's a striker and we bought him as that. IF he doesn't put the ball into the back of the net regularly, the spotlight will always be on him.
Not buying into that. IF he is really that good, he should be able to work with others and it's not like Villarreal don't have other quality players around him to work with.
