In some ways, this thread is turning into another Lampard one already. -
Some arguably more than others. Doubting him so much? Let's not exaggerate things here. All I'm doing is just giving constructive points about his penalty taking style.
-
You're either drunk or you need some time out in the 'Suspension Bar'.
-
Which one day, it will come to an end...
-
Even if he was exhausted, it's still hard to suggest that his penalty taking style isn't risky in some ways. As for the goalkeepers, one could argue that they perhaps haven't been analyzing a lot..
-
By our usual high defensive standards, that is somewhat bad. 5 clean sheets in 16 games is a no-no. And it's even worse when you analyze closely the manner in which we conceded those 14 goals. EDIT: Just checked, we've kept 5 clean sheets actually. Still bad nonetheless.

Well, if people can actually control themselves and aim to have civilized discussions, that Lampard thread wouldn't have been locked. -
That's the problem right there - he waits for the keeper to move. Gotta remember, his penalty shots aren't powerful at all as he'll just place it into the bottom without exerting much effort when the goalkeeper moves to one side. Now, if his shots aren't already powerful and goalkeepers wait till the very last second before moving, what do you think the outcome would be? They are likely to save his penalty shot since his action depends on the goalkeeper. Unless he starts to shoot with a tad more power and/or varied his penalties to make himself unpredictable, it won't be a surprise if GKs start to save more of his penalties when they thoroughly analyze his penalty taking style.

Hard to agree with Miles Jacobson's prediction when he said we have kept our defensive solidity this season. Erm, just 4 clean sheets in 16 matches!
-
Draxler is better on the LW, isn't he? If we are going to solve our RW issue, then for goodness sake, get a proper RW so that we don't end up with square pegs in round hole again!
-
3-1 at Old Trafford in 2005. 3-0 at the Bridge in 2006. 3-1 at the Bridge in 2014.
-
True, after all we've only kept 4 clean sheets all season. But if we don't kill teams off, especially with some of the great chances we got in those games, then we are prone to conceding.
-
Missing a penalty happens from time to time. Hazard being a prime example at the moment. And I disagree that Lampard couldn't finish 'his dinner' in the first half of that season. He just didn't get as many goalscoring chances as he would have liked with Ancelotti playing him as the CAM in his diamond system, which doesn't suit him at all in general. When we went back to a 4-3-3, the goals started to flow in non-stop.
-
Have to say, as much as Luis has given us some attacking threat from the LB position, he's yet to really convince fully from a defensive point of view.
-
@The Skipper, still think it was a good idea to play a weakened team for this game?
-
Bloody hell. You are really desperate, aren't you? If you really want to go down the stats route, then Drogba has scored 35 goals and got 12 assists for us in Europe, or more specifically...CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!
-
Is it a concern that we aren't scoring enough goals in away games this season? 9 in first two, then just 8 in 6.
-

Chelsea look to secure qualification in first game on Slovenian soil

@Strike, first preview of the season and you managed to 'mess' things up. #StrikeOUT -
Well, think that will only happen if Hazard improves his finishing. The situation you mentioned above was more of Lampard starting the season slowly in regards to his form, as opposed to having dodgy finishing.
-
Honestly, how on earth have Manchester City struggled so much in Europe with that current squad? It's beyond belief!
-
I do not want to imagine what would happen here on TC, especially when the international break is after this.
