It's a decent price but we've got Costa who is first choice and we don't play with two strikers. Besides I don't think Mario has the type of character Jose looks for in a striker(too lazy).
-
I think Liverpool should be happy if they qualify for the CL. They have a larger squad than last season but also they are going to take part in the CL and they won't be seeded very highly so there is going to be a lot of tough matches for them in the Group Stages. I don't think they will end up challenging for the title the way they did last season unless they massively improve their defense.
-
I very much doubt that, they might not like him but he is their best player if he leaves they are left with Pandev and Pazzini leading the line and those two are just not good enough.
-
20 million euro is a great price - didn't they pay more for Downing a few years ago. It would be fun to see English Media go into a Balofrenzy again as they did in the past
-
"Sometimes when you are at a club with a lot of big stars, the name counts for more than the statistics. Unfortunately, it was like that in my case. " Demba Ba wasn't happy being 3rd choice and barely playing, he might not been good enough but he is certainly better than 3rd choice. Decent match yesterday and he is a pretty decent character - hope he knocks out the Arse
-
He is still only 21, I think he should just look for a team that would allow him to play regularly at this pace he won't make it here. Simply put he hasn't made enough progress but you've got to keep in mind that central midfielders peak later on and require regular football.

The Torres Comedy Extravaganza tour rolls on https://vine.co/v/MYOQ3ZdbTKp BTW how do you embed vine videos?
-
He will cost us more points than he will win coming off the bench - better send him to one of our feeder clubs.
-
The difference a striker making runs inside the box is so great, really excited by pre-season having an actual top class striker leading the line. *Knocks on wood*
-
Lads we have found why he is playing in friendlies - our club is trying to diversify during the Summer Tour and bring new fans on board. Torres provides the light hearted slapstick comedy which will bring a smile to any neutral.
-
Nope best idea is to send him on a World Tour where he is signing t-shirts in Malaysia, Phillipines, US, China, Japan, Arab Emirates etc. He can at least do something positive in such a case and we can fly him Economy everywhere to save some money on travel.
-
It's only a friendly but a result like this is a huge disappointment - just take a look where Werder finished last season and today they beat us without any problems. Didier is rusty and is lacking that extra yard We are still an injury away from kissing this season goodbye Need to sign another striker
-
Mikel saves us from a third goal
-
He should be no where near the side, he is so horrible it effects other players around him and we end up playing far worse. Fernando Torres retire please
-
Suarez wanted to leave Liverpool last season, just because a player wants to leave - doesn't mean a manager or a board can't do anything about keeping him. Right now we are a Costa injury away from disaster - yet again I don't feel confident even after the wonderful transfer window we have had. We need to sign another striker or promote Bamford ahead of Torres and send Torres off to the Championship
-
Torres best position is in a crate on his way to Siberia
-
If he wanted sympathy he would play for free or take a wage cut and move on. I have far more sympathy for players who were wrongfully booed because of Torres like Malouda and Sturridge.
-
Players who have watched Torres from the bench over an year like Sturridge; Lukaku are qualified to know his capabilities. If I was in their place and any manager told me Torres is ahead of me in the pecking order - I'd ask why the manager is insulting me. There is no excuse for Torres getting games in a Chelsea shirt he has been shite longer than he has been class.
-
Why are people so butthurt, great transfer for CFC, Everton and Lukaku. I just don't think it's very fair to blame young players like Sturridge or Lukaku for not being happy about bench roles with managers who obviously don't rate them. Jose had Torres ahead of him in the pecking order last season - that's pretty much like telling him to the face "I think you're shite". Young players and specially strikers need great confidence to become great, that's why a manager needs to develop a great relationship with them and have his arm around their shoulder. Play them out of position that's alright but explain why you are doing it, bring them on as a substitute but make them feel like they are part of your plans and will have a larger role. This is something we have struggled with enormously - unless we buy a finished product or invest heavily most youth players never develop while here.
-
Torres is here despite being a monumental pile of shite, Only now are we looking to kick him out the door which should have happened after we won the CL after his comments which were far more disgraceful than anything Lukaku has said. Instead we bend over backwards to him and let go of Drogba, loan Lukaku while not signing any strikers - never dropping him in any matches that season in favor of Sturridge. AvB comparing him to Kezman and Sheva and still playing him; RdM having to watch 100 hours of Liverpool matches to dissect his matches and how he scored goals with them. I don't have the paper trail but seeing as one man calls the shot at the club - he will also fork out the responsibility for Torres still being here.
-
Spon on, Sturridge couldn't get a game up top ahead of Torres because Torres is Roman's favorite player. Sturridge is technically and in terms of technique, vision and passing better than Lukaku he could unlock a packed defense a thing a lot of people doubt Lukaku would do on a regular basis(although I think he could turn into a major aerial threat). People actually expect Lukaku to get many games if he sticks around - we have Costa who is a Jose signing and is miles better than Torres.
-
After a season at the club Jose should know the club currently has two strikers(if we aren't counting Bamford who is likely going out on loan) One is Costa and the second one is a 36 year old Drogba. We need to either keep Bamford and play him in the cups, make space for another foreign striker or find a homegrown option
-
We need to buy another striker and he needs to count as "home grown" otherwise keep Bamford and have him be Drogba deputy. Torres shouldn't even be in the squad, just have him train with the reserves if he doesn't want to leave.
-
I mentioned this last summer but didn't want to believe it. Still I don't feel as bad about Lukaku as I did with the Sturridge fiasco because simply I don't rate him as highly. I still think he should have been our #1 striker last season and if he was around we might have won the League. At least we now have Costa and not Eto'o/Ba/Torres Expect us to use the money and buy an English/Homegrown striker now I don't have hard feeling for Lukaku, I think it's best for him to play regularly even if its with a team like Everton which is obviously a step down. Best of luck Romelu
-
I though he did brilliantly - I hope Ghana somehow qualify for the next phase. This is invaluable experience for Atsu and allows our manager and board to get a closer look at the lad at the biggest stage.
