  1. Another CL game another goal - Only One Didier
  2. He had a great match, should start against City - but unless he does this consistently for a season any comments like "he is back" are dumbfounded
  3. I don't like limited forwards either but I'd take a limited forward who scores goals over a forward that does other things right but doesn't score goals. Either way I've never though Eto'o is a limited forward/striker, he has many attributes in his game some might be dull due to his years but he is only a stop gap this season in any case and he is starting to score goals which is why he was bought.
  4. Firstly Berbatov is as prolific goal scorer in the EPL as Bent Long wasn't starting infront of Oddemwingie - they were rotated or one was played on the flanks quite often. Welbeck plays on the wing for United, Hernandez is on the bench because he cannot play on the wing There is nothing much separating Jones and Walters as far as goals are concerned - both are pretty crap Yeah I'm sure the fact that Eto'o and Rooney have a history of scoring goals is not one of the reasons Jose was looking at both players and we were looking at Cavani before them. If Jose felt that they wouldn't score goals first and foremost he wouldn't have gone for either player. I don't remember if there was a club that has ever won the EPL without at least one of their strikers scoring double digits of goals. As soon as Drogba lost consistency in the League we dropped off in the League. We need a striker to score his share of goals otherwise it's pointless to even have one. Three years of Torres has made people forget what a striker's job is, trying to justify his awful finishing with link-up play; understanding with the three amigos; holding up the ball; passing well etc None of those things would make him a success scoring loads of goals will do that. A striker is expected to score goals not go 6 months or 24 hours without finding the net. Eto'o did his job today, so in the he deserves another start next weekend.
  5. All managers prefer a striker who's scoring goals as opposed to one that isn't scoring goals - which is my whole point.
  6. I beg to differ! Beating players; setting up others; holding up the ball; closing down defenders; making space are secondary skills for a striker - first and foremost put the ball in the back in the end as many times as possible. Today Eto'o did his job "well", he could still improve - more of the same and I'd be happy.
  7. Eto'o also setup one of the best chances in the match for Mata, that Mata fluffed One goal is more than Ba and Torres have in the League this season
  8. Took Torres over 700 minutes to get a goal for CFC and 14 appearances, Eto'o has made 5 appearances and people were already righting him off as not good enough, wanting Torres to start ahead of him. Stick it to the haters
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZOXJqJsUtQ&feature=player_embeddedZlatan triumphs Wilshere's goal
  10. First striker to open his account in the EPL this season, Eto'o already has as many goals in the EPL as Torres in 2013 Lethal - if we just forget his chance in the first goal which lead to Hazard's equalizer
  11. He also setup Suarez's penalty, Pool would be in the relegation zone without Suarez and Sturridge
  12. Suarez and Sturridge to the rescue for Poo
  13. Pretty brilliant assist if I do say so myself http://youtu.be/94TvgDJvaTM That Chelsea link up that never materialized at club level Lukaku to KdB !
  14. I would have pissed off too, he was on the bench watching Torres; Ba and now semi retired Eto'o start matches for us - while a few months ago he was scoring hat tricks against United. Being told that you are behind the pecking order behind the biggest flop in English football is enough to piss off even the most professional strikers in the business. I know Lukaku is a Chelsea fan, so possibly he knows how shite Torres has been specially being a striker himself - he is not some casual guy who still thinks Torres is good enough for a club of a caliber. I do worry he has low goals, outscoring our strikers is going to be a breeze, he should want to finish top scorer in the League this season. He has the needed attributes to do it.
  15. 'I have a drive and ambition to be the best I can, but it's not just personal. I am always aware of responsibilities to the team, and I want to contribute to Everton having the best possible season while I'm here.' Juventus and Borussia Dortmund both expressed an interest in Lukaku, prior to the transfer window shutting, but he made it clear he still sees his long-term future at Stamford Bridge. 'They are not exactly small clubs, and it is flattering to be linked with them,' he said 'I appreciate they feel I could handle playing at that level, but my goal has not changed. I want to succeed at Chelsea.' If we finish bellow Everton due to Lukaku, it would be our fault not his. Either way I cannot fault him for wanting to prove his doubters which include Jose wrong, I've no doubts we let go our best striker go on loan.
  16. You can fuck off, Lukaku was told he was not needed and most likely Everton is paying his wages for the season. He has started two matches for Chelsea which means he has come on as a sub 13 times in his 2 years here. I've said it was a stupid call by the club well before there was a narrative about the fact. There has only been a bunch of Torres fanboys who hated Sturridge - a lot of people who doubted him but not hated him.
  17. He is not ready based on what? Are you saying Torres; Eto'o and Ba are ready to lead our line. Torres was finished when he arrived at CFC it took him 14 Matches to score his first goal. Berbatov managed 48 goals in the Prem out of 108 appearances and he was never first choice at United and have a whole team build around him; Torres has had nearly 3 seasons at Chelsea and managed 15 goals in 87 matches, he was basically our only striker last season for 6 months and look how that turned out. The reason there is pressure on Torres is because he continues to get picked despite his embarrassing form, when other players don't perform they get dropped - when Torres goes on a 24 hour goal drought we decide for him to be first choice striker the next season. Demba Ba had a decent run at Newcaslte, but the team was build around him, I watched him after the arrival of Cisse where he was played on the wing and in 6 months he was dire while Cisse was scoring. Ba was never good enough to come to CFC, he was a stop gap and his only chance to make himself first choice was scoring a lot of goals something he hasn't done and he would have been loaned/sold if the only bidder wasn't Arsenal. Sturridge scored 11 goals in the League from the League as a winger, which is more than Torres has ever scored in a full season for Chelsea yet Torres was first choice striker. Sturridge didn't deceive anyone he was by far our best striker last year but much like Lukaku he never got any backing during all his time at CFC other than a short run out of position before AvB got sacked. Lukaku will be gone after the World Cup if we don't guarantee him first team football, if anyone thinks he is going to wait another year for us they are kidding themselves. He is most likely looking at what happened to Sturridge last season where he didn't get a single MATCH ahead of Torres and unless some guarantees are made he will likely be transferred next summer after the World Cup. He deserved a spot this season, you are making it sound like Torres; Ba and Eto'o are very effective against teams that defend they are not.
  18. Make of that what you will, but I don't think a 20 year old striker can really decide what to do unless the Manager has already told him he is not in his immediate plans. Secondly I think Lukaku has the right mentality and would have stayed and fought for a place here if he knew he had a level playing field. We had him on the bench at the start of the season and he was our in form striker but Jose doesn't fancy him just yet. The whole Statement Lukaku made recently about asking for the loan is PR by our Board, so we don't have egg on our faces and Jose is not constantly questioned why he was send on loan while our strikers can't convert any of their chances in the EPL. Here is quote from the interview - translated loosely: Now either Belgium newspapers are about as bad as English tabloids and make up quotes and entire interviews or Lukaku thought that no one would bother looking at his Belgium interviews or our PR team had not briefed him what to say. http://www.nieuwsblad.be/sportwereld/cnt/dmf20131007_00779440 Either way I think it's a big mistake by Jose to rate Torres and Eto'o higher than Lukaku considering their "form" but as Lukaku says lets see at the end of the season who made the right call. Sadly if we end up signing a big name striker in the next 12 months I don't think we would see him in a Chelsea Shirt after next year's World Cup, I hope he does so well that he is guaranteed a first team place next season by Jose himself.
  19. Did he really tell Belgian press that he was very surprised when Mourinho called him to say he was being loaned out ? A friend of mine told me that his statement about requesting to be loaned out is PR by the Chelsea Board and just a few weeks earlier he had told Belgium media that he was surprised to be loaned. In all likelihood the board don't want to look like retards so they have given him a call and he is taking pressure of them by issuing this statement, while also getting himself into Jose's good book. In any case he is far superior that our current crop of strikers and he would have won the first team spot if he was kept.
  20. His assist was great. But all our strikers are dire in front of goal - 7 matches into the Season and not a single goal between the three of them. Whoever starts scoring will become first choice for this season but judging from their matches thus far there is a wide margin between our strike force and our rivals.
  21. This is the first time I've seen this guy Januzaj, SAF left some supplies for Moyes in the youth team it seems.
  22. I'm sure if Lukaku started 2 matches and made 10 substitute appearances at West Brom in half a season he also would not developed or found form. Players need to play in order to improve or find form - when they are lacking match practice they are never going to be sharp or improve.
