That is the Mou way. I'm not sure why you're surprised. We're never going to get a player that pushes up offensively and is constantly beating his man on the other wing. Jose is perfectly fine having Hazard do that, and occasionally have Matic push up, but the other winger in our system will always essentially be a wing back. So naturally it will be a player who is a work horse and who tracks back like crazy. Why do you think a player like Schurlle is falling out of favor and is now most likely leaving? Because he only plays the offensive side.
-
The one frustration I have with him is ball retention under pressure. He can't seem to handle being pressured at all. He either gets pushed off the ball, falls over, or ends up getting the ball under his feet and does a bad pass. He also gets stuck having to back track at times when he tries to beat his man when pressured. That is literally the only problem of his. Ability to deal with defensive pressure. He is great at pressuring others, but when it happens to him, he crumbles at times.

Whichever winger we get, people will not be happy with him, unless it is Reus. Have a look how at how Jose plays Willian. It is no wonder he doesn't rack up stats considering he is almost essentially played as a wingback. Same will happen to Cuadrado. Mou likes these guys due to their relentless running, tracking back, and ability to defend. We're a defensive team, with a strong focus on being solid between that backline and the line just above it. Why do you think you see Matic drop back as far as the full backs at times? Mou is perfectly happy having a workhorse on one wing who will provide some run going forward, but mainly focus on their defensive duties, while having the other winger (Hazard) carry the load completely offensively. We're able to do it because Hazard is so damn good. Willian is very capable of sitting in the middle, or even wide, pushing forward and creating for others. We see him do it for Brazil, and we saw him do it prior to coming here. Same with Cuadrado, although strictly more suited to the wing than Willian, he will be molded into the same thing.

It is blatantly obvious how good Yaya Toure is, just given this result. People on here constantly say he is lazy, unmotivated and simply not as good as hyped up to be, but you can really tell he was missing out there. Fernandinho is not in the same class, and you can tell he offers nothing compared to Yaya going forward, and doesn't cover near the ground on defense. Guy is absolutely a top player, a walk on starter on any team in the world, and as good as Matic IMO. Their team against Arsenal felt gutless and lacking in the middle without him just based on his physicality on the field.

Not being allowed to play your game, and having your former coach not believe in you has a lot to do with it. He is perfect for our team, and there was a reason he was being linked originally with us. He can beat his man on the wing, something we don't have on the opposite side of Hazard, and he can actually play a decent pass in from the wing.

I'll be honest; I can't stand him now. Already scored and been involved in too many important goals for City that have helped them stay close and worry us at times in the PL race. And not to mention, score a vital one against us... Anyone but City would have been fine, since no one else is our direct rival for a trophy in the season. But he chose City. There are some things you just don't do as a 'legend'. Directly competing for the title with the rivals against us is one of them. Being a direct reason as to why they are competing by scoring crucial goals is just the cherry on top. Sure, it may all end up gravy and we win, no harm done. But imagine him celebrating the trophy if they do somehow catch and overtake us... I'm seriously not a fan. That comes from someone who was saying "It's fine, no big deal" when the goal against us was scored.

Get Remy Cabella and start him on the right wing over Willian. Apart from that, same as last win.
-
Oscar, Willian and Brana were so bad. Ivanovic will have to keep playing due to the Azpi injury, but Willian really needs to sit. I'm not even sure who to come on for him, but jeez he was bad. I will say that he worked hard, and produced a moment of brilliance with the corner, but it isn't enough in terms of the bad he causes on the pitch. What made me laugh was that our 3 worst players on the pitch in my opinion; Ivanovic, Oscar and Willian, were the ones involved in the goal.
-
Can we sign Cabella after the game? We need someone who can actually beat players on the wing like Hazard.
-
The match reminded me of letting your little brother score at the start when you're mucking about in the yard, and then somehow luck keeps going on his side and the match turns out harder than it should, and you end up with a bad result. lol... Anyone else bothered by the fact that the biggest wanker on the field, Mane, scored a goal. Dude spent more time pretending to be hurt on the ground than he actually did playing football. Absolute bell end. Next time we play them I want to see him decked hard from the very get go.
-
Not a big deal. They sat back with 6 defenders all game, and then had the rest play a tight distance between the two lines. Hard for anyone to score. If we did, we would have bagged about 3 or 4. On to the next one.
-
Jizzing on and not in the pants. Something new to me. I guess its all about location, location, location.
-
When the talk a while back came about that we were in the run for him when Mata was here, I said he was already the better player. I was laughed at and told how silly that assertion was... Here we are down the track, and it isn't a question anymore. Isco being a key member already of team Spain, and a vital piece for their future, all at a far younger age.

Extremely talented player, who is consistently under-appreciated on here. He is so multi faceted, much like Oscar, that at times he is asked to play so many different roles on the pitch, and much like Oscar at times, his performance is undervalued. He is being asked to play the jack of all trades role and master of none, so it isn't really fair to judge him on just the one or two attributes. This guy is a beast in CAM but he hasn't been asked to play that role, and every time he is put out onto the wing he is always one of the best for us in terms of stretching defenses and helping back. Anyone who can't appreciate what he is doing, simply isn't looking hard enough.
-
Matic is better now, and Yaya is indeed a cunt... but one outstanding season? Come on... You know that isn't true.
-
I'd happily give up Schurrle to get Reus. Would not second guess it. Get Reus, promote Salah to get some game time here and there, and have Willian and Oscar switch between that role behind the striker. It would benefit our team in more ways than just getting Reus. Willian would go back to his more natural position where he played fantastically prior to coming here, and that is the number 10 role behind the front man. Maybe then people will stop saying how he was a waste of money, and they'd actually see he is an immense player himself.
-
Great game, and we were fantastic for 70 minutes. But we really need to stop sitting back to the extent we're just inviting pressure. Ease off a little, but seriously... They created more chances in the last 20 minutes than they did the whole game, and it was all because of us, not because of them.

Don't talk shit Skrtel or you look stupid when going against Costa.
-
Hoping for a Manchester United special. Them scoring in the 97th minute despite it being only 2 additional minutes that was supposed to be added.
-
Has a feeling of Classico about it with all this diving.
-
Hope Lampard comes on and scores an own goal in the 86th minute.
-
You tried your best McNair, but a faux hawk always beats a mop top.
-
Lets hope this McNair kid turns into a weapon on the field. Going by his haircut, I have my doubts.
-
Aguero's wasn't a penalty, but the Yaya one is questionable. Don't think its 100% like some of you on here. Rojo had position and then Toure stepped in front of him. Not easy to get a penalty like that in my opinion.
-
If he wants to come here, let him come. I'd be happy to have him. Costa hasn't been the healthiest as of late, Remy is injured, and Drogba at this point always has a nagging injury, and we can't have him at his age playing that many minutes every game if both of the other two are down. People act like having a wealth of options isn't needed. Sure, maybe not, but it is nice, and it will only help us if anything. I mean City at one point had Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo and Jovetic who could all start up front if needed. Same with United right now. RVP, Rooney and Falcao all could take that striker position on a given day. I wouldn't mind Destro here. Remy can always play on the wing as well, so it isn't like one of them will never get a game.
