Because other teams like us and City don't need him and may have other targets. Holtby is a very well known player, it's not like he's just unearthed a gem from nowhere to warrant 'the one hell of a scout' tag. You could say that with signings like Romeu possibly, but not holtby who's already got quite a stock in europe.

Considering the fact that Holtby is pretty well known talent out there, I don't think this is the right transfer to herald Avb as being 'one hell of a scout'

Look at how often Sturridge picked up niggling injuries. Rafa has specifically spoken about resting Torres, IF he was to come back he'd get a lot of minutes with the competitions we're in. Don't want him to come back yet though

Yeah but your using those interviews as a way to try and back up that he's not arrogant. You shouldn't take what people say to the media as face value, because a lot of people act differently when it comes to addressing the press. I've formed an opinion of Sturridge being arrogant stemming all the way back from his wage demands saga at City where he'd only played a few games, Wilkins then comes out saying he refused to want to play outwide under Carlo and wanted a central role. After trying hard to get Sturridge in the first place and his supposed talent that we've seen, why are the club letting him go so easily and for such a low fee with 18 months left on his contract and having got himself into the England set up? There's obviously something behind the scenes that we're not seeing (although Wilkins alluded to it the other day) There's that paranoia again.......

I'm looking forward to Lukaku proving many on this thread wrong in a few years. I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that he virtually had no match play at all last season. He's basically had a year long lay off with no real game situations, things like first touch are bound to look awful (Even Oscar's first touch looks rubbish for us), Drogba first touch was terrible when he first came to us. If you watch his interviews you can see the determination on his face, he's not going to give up without a fight. I've watched quite a few West Brom games and his play is slightly improving game by game and he's starting to show more flair (A lot of stepovers are starting to emerge haha). He's also learning to run the channels too, he's taking up positions on the wings and whipping in top quality crosses quite frequently. How many Strikers have there even been in the Prem at his age with his current strike rate? Give him time and games to develop and he's going to be the real deal, has all the attributes

Mate you have a huge degree of paranoia when it comes to Sturridge. There've been murmurs about Sturridge's arrogance, Wilkins basically confirmed that yesterday about not wanting to play a wider role (I watched it for myself now, so know it's not twitter lies). If you can't see it, then there's no use arguing

Of course people have a right to be disappointed, but it's going a lot further than that with people having a go at the board, Torres and the club in general. Sturridge isn't a key player and considering that Moses is on 50K, Mata joined on 65k it is quite a lot, especially after we bought Sturridge with him having only played 10 or so games in the league. In fact it's taking the piss considering where he was at the time. And you've just proved my point really, Hutntelaar hasn't been good enough to make it at the top club. Same for Sturridge
