I am not sure it has anything to do with ability to hold the ball. Defensively it is obvious the difference between the two. Oscar is really discipline in term of doing his marking duty where as Mata is quite poor . Offensively they are somewhat different. Oscar is like mezut Ozil. He does not always want the ball. He will move to the wing to create space for our winger to cut inside. Simply put, tactically he is brilliant both Offensively and defensively. Mata on the other is typical Spanish player. He wants the ball on his feet and will move into space to receive the ball. In term of technical and playmaking skill, it is not even close, he is by far our best playmaker. Oscar is definitely better suited for Mourinho type of football.

Agree, the only way we can get rooney is if we offer mata. N like you said Oscar is the perfect no 10 for Mourinho but mata will make United even better. He will add creativity and RvP will score even more playing in front of Mata. And it is just crazy that United will have the best striker and the best advanced playmaker in epl

My only hope is that nobody will get unhappy in the middle of the season for lack of playing time because unhappy players tend to have bad impact on the team.

In term of moving into channels yes but link up play not sure about that. I watched him probably twice with liverpool. When he picked up the ball his first instinct is to take on player and his off the ball movement is more about moving into channel. For us, we need players like RVP, Lewandowski, or Rooney who will drop deep and link up with our midfield.

Not sure he is the striker that jose want. Sturridge will score tons of goals. No doubt about that. but he is not the striker that we need. It's like comparing mario gomez to mario mandzukic. Mandzukic will never score as many goals as gomez but he makes bayern much better because his link up play and tactically he is far superior. Mou want rooney because he want a striker who can drop deep to link up with our midfielder and that is not sturridge

Lol this thread will never end. Sturridge is not a good striker for us because we need our striker to hold the ball and to create space for our midfielder.

He is not really a out and out striker but, he can play as main striker and he is actually a very good option for us. The only problem with jovetic is that he tends to get injured a lot.

I don't like this signing. Yes Willian will give us another option on the right but do we really need it. Paying 30 m for upgrade on squad player is just crazy. Will this signing make us better compare to city/united/bayern/Madrid? I highly doubt it
