well Moyes has said something to the like of Rooney becoming important for them if RvP gets injured. Which he might be at some point during the season of course, but even then I don't envision an unsettled number two Rooney coming on and pulling up any trees
-
How is he going to get them 20 goals for United next season by sitting on the bench sulking?
-
never in a million years worth the money being touted
-
There were reports recently of a 7M euro bid from Spurs. That's peanuts!! I hope Mou wants to bring him in. GOAT LB!

well if you're inferring that the club has already agreed terms with De Rossi and Roma you have to question the point of the friendly. a chance for Roma fans in NYC to see their player play against his old club? kinda like "look he's our player now" on our part. don't like the notion and would be surprised if it's the case here. other options would be for it to be his last game as a Roma player, against his new club. but wouldnt you want to get in a player ASAP and not wait until right before the season starts. other unrealistic alternative would be that the match is at the player's personal request but that cant be ordinary for players to wield that type of power surely? anyway dont want to speculate in this matter because there's no reports really of him joining Chelsea so wont waste my time. you do know they'll be in the US since earlier playing other friendlies right?
-
yes two big clubs playing a promo friendly on neutral soil is unheard of
-
unfortunately you're prolly right I just think it's good to have an english spine in the team but f it this is about having a world class side challenging for all trophies
-
been saying this. they don't hear us though...

well we have been in need of a REAL good DM for several seasons now. Ramires is more box-to-box runner and not a natural DM. Lampard is an attacking midfielder. Essien didnt look sharp at all after his return from injury, will be interesting to see how he does now under Mourinho and after half a season at Madrid. Mikel has never been consistently good enough unfortunately. Romeu out on loan. Selling Mikel for say 10M euro and bringing in LG for 20 would be a twiffic bit of business. Are there any English DMs on the market?

harsh. Monaco's got an ambitious project going and they dont mind letting everyone know. what's wrong with buying players who've played for the same team. looks a pretty smart move in my eyes. I'm sure Porto and their fans aint too angry with the sums being touted about for these players
-
just sounds like someone with a win at any cost attitude as Robby up here states. can't really have too many of those in a football team. sure he's liable to spaz out once in a while but as you say that's called taking the bitter with the sweet, the skip with the verse, the gift with the curse people get bit everyday b

Solve United's Rooney problem, give them £35M or thereabouts, only for us to use him as backup?
-
Suárez would probably only be around £5M more expensive than Rooney, at the most. Buying Suárez would achieve 3 things: 1. Not strengthening United by offloading Rooney from them and giving them a truckload of wonga to bring in quality players who wont cause them problems. If Rooney stays there I can envision a potential implosion this season (missing out on top 4 depending on Arsenal & Spurs transfer activity). 2. Even if we paid 35-40 millz to pool for Suárez's services and Rodgers could utilise every penny on new signings it's unlikely they would bring in someone who would be as successful. 3. Not allowing Arsenal to strengthen by hijacking their target. Although I'm not too worried, don't see Arsenal as title contenders even with a Suárez in their side.
-
Are you guys sure Mourinho answered yes to a question whether Rooney would be the only player brought in for the remainder of the window? Very strange thing to say this early.. no worries maybe it's just loading slowly for me at the moment
-
hey i'm all for posting gifs but maybe not now when the site is under some pressure?
-
 Had the same thought myself. To be honest I hate to see us do any kind of business with 'pool, especially after the Torres saga. However if a striker is to be brought in this window and the club have an actual interest in Rooney then why not just look at Suàrez who would CLEARLY be a better option. With his situation at 'pool I could see an eventual deal for him being haggled down to £35M if the player were to force a move at the end of the transfer window. Would constitute MUCH better value for money imo.

that's because they cant believe their luck with Chelsea coming in likely offering stupid amounts of money for an unsettled player who is going to be nothing but a PROBLEM for them this coming season. a player soon to be 28 who peaked years ago, now on the decline with a history of fitness & injury issues. I clinge to the small hope of our bid only being intended to unsettle Rooney and United further which would be a nice start to Mourinho's mind games with Moyes. If not then the fact that they seemed to have leaked false info to the press (Mata, Luiz swap deal) along with the ridiculous figure they would want for a straight cash deal should put us off if Mou et cet. look at it in a sensible way.
-
Question: how much would United likely demand for Rooney? in straight cash
-
listen up man.dem.dont.rate.him for £25M or whatever ridiculous figure United are going to demand he's actually more useful to us as an unsettling factor in their dressing room granted he stays, does anyone think he'll go on to have a great season at United? no so why should Chelsea splash a load of wonga to actually HELP them lot by taking an unsettled player off their hands?? he'll turn 28 this autumn. Rooney is on the decline with question marks over his fitness and proneness to injury. he could have a good or even great season, especially with the support of what's shaping up to be a great midfield for us. HOWEVER so could a lot of other strikers as well, either players already at our club or other players who would be less expensive and better investments for the future than Wayne Rooney. in light of the aforementioned reasons..
