We played fine 1st half, though Mikel kept losing the ball each time he got it, it was ridiculous. This guy has to go, to the bench or out. We need a good DM. When Iva was sent off we had to put in another defender, but surprise! We don't have a sub right back (Hutch is too inexperienced, I guess). Bertrand coming on should have been then and not after we were 2 goals down. We also have a terrible problem in midfield. Lamps and Hazard both are playmakers, seems like they can't play together. Mikel can't cover up for one of them so certainly for both... Mata can go play on the wing, but when Oscar arrives this will get worse. Totally unbalanced squad...

Michael Emenalo (Technical Director, Chelsea)
manco replied to coolhead23's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Well I know Emenalo since he was a player under Avram Grant, he was a fair defender to be honest... But I am still shocked at his position with so little experience, if any... I mean it's obvious why he got the job (hint: Avram) and I believe he's as much an ear for Roman, Gourlay etc., as he is a technical director. I think such a job should require prior skills and not OJT. But only time will tell if he has succeeded... At the moment our loan policy and youth policy can imrpove. Piazon elected player of the year, but alongside all our acquisitions looks like he won't play , so maybe loan. I think Josh should be loaned to a team that promises him field time (not like that joke term at Swansea), same for Lukaku. As for PVA, I hope he'll come back with more experience next year. And I still feel we need more young local lads coming through the ranks and getting some chance. -
Deserves credit for taking the weirdest tactical decisions I've seen for a long time (starting with the 5-3 vs Arsenal and many more)
-
We have about a dozen attacking midfielders, seriously I have no idea why we need Oscar apart from AVB wanting him and Roman wanting revenge or something

The goal of my avatar pic here on the left, or at least the celebration (corner flag=guitar). 7th goal against wigan in the famous 8-0 on the final day

MC \ DR \ some sort of DMR Mikel must not be in the starting lineup. Our defensive play in the CL created an illusion that he is worthwhile, which he is not. You can't forget all his defensive mistakes when we play good football. And Romeu is turning to be a little "easygoing". We need a pitbull-that-can-pass DM to cover up for Ramires and the rest
-
We should play our Lucas (Piazon) first... All these Brazilians without European experience could turn out to be flops like Denilson
-
Will be missed Thanks for everything !

What is clear is that you don't know much about real football or reading. If Cahill or Luiz go forward the offside trap fails and we get easy goals in, as we did against Arsenal (5-3) or many games under AVB. Besides, I said at the beginning that this is just an example, and there have been many similar mistakes before, so there's no use focusing just on this event. And you don't know me and what knowledge I have of football so quit bitchin'

It's not for just for THAT goal. And it's not a matter of hate, but for the last few seasons he hasn't done much to justify the Chelsea shirt, maybe a spot on the bench.

The video from 101gg, my analysis

There's no reason to go after the guy behind him as Diame is facing the goal and not with his back to it...
-
I know I'm repeating myself but it just pissed me off again yesterday... I can't really doubt the fact that he's playing only because we are still playing in 3 different sets, but he's continuing with the terrible positioning. If he plays against Barcelona it will be very sad... Example from the match against Wigan (which are turning to be our nemesis since the Avram season): As you can see , Diame is with the ball, Bertrand coming back from the left wing to fill in for the hole in defense (Mikel's area). Mikel is overlooking , and let's say the area he can defend is the black circle. Cahill is keeping a straight defense line with Luiz so he can't move. Meireles is behind and he can't tackle (or he gets a red card), and Diame is moving in (white circle) towards the edge of the box as some Wigan player is running into the box (yellow line). The thing is, the minute Diame takes a step he is totally alone, instead of Mikel doing the obvious and covering up. As you all know this resulted with a goal (red-black line). This is just one example, but is seems to be happening over and over again (such as the horror game against Man City at home last season). Don't let the pass stats (90%) fool you, this guy should spend next season elsewhere.

We were f***ed by the ref, we played a lot better. Barca had one shot on target all the match, but it was the fatal one... I remember being devastated As for the next 2 matches - revenge? There's only one problem. Since that game they have improved too much, and we've become worse. Besides Messi having the best season in history.
-
Well he should at least get a chance from the bench...What's it worth loaning him if he doesn't play? As for the accurate passing, obv. you can be very accurate when you pass back to your df or gk half of the time. None of them are Xavi
-
Does anyone know why he's not playing at all?
-
FFS we haven't even used Lukaku
-
Jose won the Champions League. Europa league is a joke.

Besides Lamps being fit for a match every 3 weeks and Sturridge needing someone like Fergie to convince him no to shoot every ball he gets (and stop missing half of them), what bothered me the most was the bench. I mean, the starting lineup was fine, but we were stuck. So if AVB wanted to make a change, he had 1 "striker" (Torres), 3 (!!!) defensive midfielders, 1 full back (Hutch) and 1 walking dead player (Malouda). Who FFS can make an attacking change?! NO ONE. We are lacking so many creative players. Lukas Piazon must get a spot. PS Just saw Stoch scoring another wonder-goal in Turkey, such a miss

All that money for Ramires and a brain wasn't included

What a surprise! Normal lineup = win

Great tactical analysis of the match against Napoli

We don't need options. We need good players. -

Haha Benayoun? You must be joking Even Israel's national coach is thinking of leaving him on the bench...and he doesn't have many options We need to let Lukas and Josh play and get another AMC, or put Mata there and get another forward -
