In reflection, I am very happy he's staying. Last season we saw how much the squad loves Frank - everyone went to pay their respects to his mother and he appreciated that very much. If he had left, we'd have found finding his goals and influence on the pitch hard to replace, but finding a man with more courage and character would be an impossible task. Chelsea legend.
No chance of that. The words Real Madrid and Ramon Calderon are synonymous to 'wankers,' and it is going to take a lot of money before Robinho comes samba dancing all the way to Chelsea.
That seems quite likely - I imagine the board offered him a 4 year deal with better wages than he wanted, but I think the fact he wanted a five year deal means he is happy to play out his contract with us, which is really good news.
In all honesty, I am glad Frank is staying, but I am disappointed the club have all of a sudden showed a lack of backbone and given in to his demands. Still, getting Lampard for five more seasons is better than signing Kaka, in my opinion anyway.
Like to get him, but I don't think we will. However, with the money we have, nothing is impossible, in fairness. I'll be very surprised if we get him, because we have so many CAMs!
To be fair, knowing what the tabloids are like, DD might have said he didn't want to sign for the Blues in 2004 and those quotes have just appeared again and again. I doubt he would talk to so many players, but it isn't the constant "I'm staying"/"I'm leaving" stuff that annoys me - its his diving. In 06/07 he cut it out and was arguably our most popular player.
I'm not too sure. He needed a season to settle in, like almost all players do. I think keeping him to January wouldn't be a bad option, especially as Drogba is injured at the moment and Sala is at the Olympics. He won't play alot, but we could flog him in January for a cut price I guess.
