  1. There are a number of key incidents that cost us the game: Mikel's back-header for Tevez' first goal - there was no need for that, just clear the fucking thing! Hilario should have saved the fucker anyway. Hilario should NEVER have been beaten by Bellamy from that angle. Good strike, yes, but if he makes the V with his legs that never goes in. Mikel should have closed Bellamy down quicker as well. Third goal was unavoidable. Belletti had to risk bringing him down. How poetic City get the penalty for that when we didn't on Wednesday. A dive from Hilario would have been nice. Fourth goal was unavoidable as well. We had to go forward and always risked conceding again. Ancelotti using all his subs by the 60th minute. As soon as that happened you knew there would be a sending off or an injury. My ratings: Hilario - 3 - two shocking errors; there is no way Tevez' goal should have gone in, and being beaten from an angle like that by Bellamy is just embarrassing. Suddenly my confidence in him has evaporated. Ivanovic - 5 - was making some great runs but played the wrong pass one time too many for my liking. Terry - 3 - possibly his worst performance in a Chelsea shirt for five or six years. Quite pathetic actually. Carvalho - 6 - we lost all defensive co-ordination after he went off. Was pretty solid and was left horribly exposed for the first goal. Malouda - 5 - Ancelotti fucked up here big time. If he'd have played Ferreira, we wouldn't have been so badly exposed. Shocking decision. Malouda did nothing wrong. Ballack - 2 - Don't get me started. Mikel - 3 - Don't get me started. Lampard - 7 - at least he fucking tried. Could have had a hattrick on a better day, but those goals will be good for his confidence. Anelka - 7 - he tried all game long and won us the second penalty. Couldn't possibly ask anymore from him to be honest. Drogba - 3 - pretty woeful performance from Didier in all fairness. Sturridge - 4 - very frustrating cameo to watch, always made the wrong decision. Added a bit of badly-needed width though. Kalou - 5 - involved and did nothing wrong. Belletti - 4 - took a risk and got punished for it. Shit happens.
  2. Okay that's one mistake too many. I really think we need to drop John Terry. He's only on the pitch because he's the captain. He's a bigger liability than playing Malouda at left back. He either needs to pull his finger out or get replaced in the team. He's fucking awful at the minute.
  3. One of the best midfielders in the history of this club.
  4. So, the revised FA Cup quarter-final line-up: Saturday, 6 March 2010 Fulham v Tottenham, R6, 17:20 Portsmouth v Birmingham, R6, 12:30 Sunday, 7 March 2010 Chelsea v Stoke, R6, 16:00 Reading v Aston Villa, R6, 13:15 Some incredibly interesting ties there. I highly expect us and Villa to go through, though you never know with Reading, they've already beaten a few big teams this year. Fulham and Spurs will be interesting, as will Portsmouth-Birmingham... but I fancy us, the Yids, Villa and Birmingham in the semi-finals.

  7. Am I the only person who'd happily sacrifice Champions League success to win the League this season? I know its a rash action but I'd much rather see us win the Premier League in all honesty.
  8. Stoke it is then. Semi-finals anyone? Nah, we can't get overconfident, but we certainly will be favourites and should expect to win.
  9. Can't wait for the second leg now. I feel very confident we can beat them at the Bridge. 2-1 isn't a bad result. The performance wasn't great but we played okay in a hostile environment. Inter played well and Mourinho got his tactics spot on. The only frustrating things are the Cech injury and the penalty. BUT there's still a lot of potential for us to score two or three at home.
  10. 2-1 away at the San Siro to Inter is a very good result in fairness. We all know we should have gotten an even better result from the game (definite penalty, Drogba hitting the bar etc.), but we have three weeks to recover - Essien and Yuri should be back by then. For an injury-hit side away in an intimidating atmosphere, we did well. The away goal is absolutely crucial. The boys did well, but as I said earlier, the injury to Cech's terrible news. It'll either be a minor tweak or tear of a muscle, which will be 4-6 weeks out, or cruciate damage, which is 4-6 months.
  11. Thanks mate. And I'd reckon they're very accurate.
  12. I'm more worried about Cech than anything else to be honest.

  14. I don't understand the Belletti bashers. Right-back, centre midfield, winger. Experienced, professional. Very efficient. Always a consistent 7/10 performer. Unlikely to generate more than £1-2 million if we did sell him as he's in his twilight years.
  15. That's fine. I know there are more important things than football in life. Find me anyone who thinks otherwise. Doesn't stop me from feeling gutted to this very day. I don't want to watch highlights because it puts me in a bad mood
  16. I agree that yesterday was not the time to bring youngsters on. We needed a professional performance from our experienced players, and we got that. You can argue Kakuta, Borini et al would have caused Wolves problems, but the truth of the matter is that we needed our strongest possible eleven yesterday. Villa, Tottenham and Liverpool have all failed to win at Molineux this campaign, so the best team we could field is the right one to select as far as I'm concerned. For the record, however, Bruma was quite solid.
  17. Cheers. Yeah, you're right. I don't know if it's pure coincidence, but since British newspaper reports suggesting he'd be sold if he didn't improve he's been quite brilliant.
  18. Our away form is pretty average for a top team. Admittedly winning half of your games away from home is decent, but think back to our title winning campaigns. I think I'm right in saying we won 15 games away in 04/05 and 11 in 05/06 but that's only if I recall correctly. There's still potential for us to better our tally in 05/06 but we still have some big teams to play away from home... United, Liverpool, Tottenham. The league might very well be decided in those three games.
  19. Didier Drogba scored twice to earn Chelsea a crucial victory in the Premier League title race. With defending champions Manchester United beaten 3-1 at Goodison Park by an in-form Everton side, Chelsea were presented with an opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points. And a superb performance from key duo Didier Drogba and goalkeeper Petr Cech ensured that the Blues head to Italy to face Internazionale in the Champions League full of confidence. The result means that no matter what result United achieve against West Ham in midweek, the Blues will head into their weekend clash with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge safe in the knowledge the destiny of the title is still very much in their own hands. In a week where tabloid headlines have again focused around the private life of another Chelsea footballer - this time the injured Ashley Cole - the result acts as a welcome distraction from a tirade of media attention for Chelsea's Italian manager. Speaking after the game, the Chelsea coach was full of admiration for his two star performers. "Didier is doing very well, not just because of his goals but because of his leadership with his team-mates. But Petr was man of the match because he saved the result for us." And perhaps even more notable was Chelsea's triumph despite something of an injury crisis, with the aforementioned Cole joined on the treatment table by Ricardo Carvalho, Alex, Deco, Michael Essien and Juliano Belletti amongst those missing. Another key member of the Chelsea set-up who was absent was star midfielder Frank Lampard, who missed out due to illness - but an efficient performance by his team-mates will be just the tonic to remedy the England star back to good health. The match, in truth, was something of a dead-rubber clash for much of the first half. Wolves started the brighter of the two teams, matching Chelsea's midfield with a dogged performance, but it was the visitors who forged the first opening. Chelsea's Yuri Zhirkov is congratulated for setting up Drogba's first goal. It was Michael Ballack who shot wide, but as soon as Chelsea were into their stride, they found themselves on the back foot as the hosts replied. Kevin Doyle forced Cech into a smart save at his near post with an instinctive effort only moments after the Irishman had tested the Czech shotstopper for the first time after a promising run from deep. But by the time Chelsea had soaked up pressure from Wolves, they were hitting the hosts on the counter-attack, and a move of stunning simplicity led to their opening goal. It was the industrious Zhirkov who created it; playing a clever one-two with Ballack before teeing up Drogba to poke home from close range for his 24th of the season. The goal - coming late in the half - held much promise for Chelsea in the second period, but it only seemed to galvanise Wolves, who were matching their hosts man for man. Their first effort of a period of great pressure on the Blues' goal came through new signing Guedioura, who forced a top save from Cech with a fiercely-hit volley. Cech was keeping his team's lead intact, and his defence will be thankful for his fleet-footedness as he leapt to smother the ball at the feet of Kevin Foley before Guedioura's follow-up was hacked away by John Terry. As at Goodison Park some ten days beforehand, Terry was out-of-sorts - without regular partner-in-crime Carvalho he seemed lost and times, and but for an impressive display by Branislav Ivanovic, the Blues skipper would have found himself on the losing side of the defence's match-long duel with the tireless Doyle. But whilst Terry was under-performing, his goalkeeper was enjoying one of his best outings between the posts for Chelsea for some time, and his contribution was highlighted when he provided an assist for Drogba's second goal. A long punt forward caught the Wolves defence unaware, and Drogba coolly rounded Marcus Hahnemann before stroking home to take his tally for the season to an incredible 25 in 29 matches. Wolves continued to press, aiming for the goal their fight and grit warranted, but Chelsea were not to be denied only their second win away from home in seven matches and first in three. Ancelotti's winning machine marches on - thanks to their goalkeeper and talismanic forward. ___________________________________________________________________ Wolves: Hahnemann; Zubar, Craddock, Berra, Ward; Henry ©; Foley (Halford), Guedioura, Jones (Ebanks-Blake), Jarvis (Mujangi Bia); Doyle Chelsea: Cech; Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry ©, Zhirkov (Bruma); Ballack, Mikel, Malouda; Anelka, J Cole; Drogba The TalkChelsea.net Man of the Match was Chelsea's number 1, PETR CECH
