I don't think he's been "awful", as he's constantly having to bail Fabregas out of trouble - but there is no denying he's been poor by comparison to this time last year.

Willian is the player Neymar aspires to be

No. Sorry. Not buying that. Each to their own, and all that, but what you're basically saying is Hazard needs the rest of the team to play well for him to be able to do the same. If that's the case, then he really is a level behind the likes of Reus, Bale, Griezmann, etc. Big players are supposed to dig you out of holes, not hide away. The simple fact is he has been equally as bad, if not even worse, than the rest of our squad. I see no reason to persecute Ivanovic and Fabregas and yet spare Hazard. He is equally culpable.
-
Feel sorry for this guy. Someone probably just went on Google and typed in "average centre-backs available on the cheap" and he was top of the list.
-
Still pisses me off that José was willing to discard him after a brilliant pre-season and continually put faith in the likes of Fabregas, Hazard and Ivanovic.
-
I'm not buying into the Pep-hype. Okay, he has a great record. But I reckon I could have got an equally good record at the two best teams in the world with the players at his disposal.

Must say I'm enjoying being on here as a member, rather than as an Admin. Being able to contribute my views rather than policing the place makes for a better experience.

Good man. Don't get bullied into it, though. What you could do is donate €10 a month, something more manageable. But no-one is going to force you. In fact, no-one expects you to pay €100. It was a light-hearted comment, tongue-in-cheek, I presume.

Better than Falcao, so just bring him back and give him a shot. At least he'll work for the shirt.

What would it take to turn the season around?

A fucking miracle. -
Goalkeepers 1. Asmir Begovic - 7 - whilst he hasn't been spectacular, he's ensured we have avoided a number of humiliations (we could have lost by six at City without him, for instance), and can hold his head up high. 13. Thibaut Courtois - 6 - only played a handful of matches, but with a complete lack of protection in front of him, he did as well as he could. One mistake vs Swansea made up for with the penalty save at West Brom. Defenders 2. Branislav Ivanovic - 2 - he was fantastic against Arsenal, as captain - but that was the exception to the norm this season. He can't defend and he can't attack. He's the "best right-back at the club" in Jose's eyes because he's the only right-back at the club. 5. Kurt Zouma - 5 - he hasn't been the saviour of our defence as so many predicted. However, his low rating here is through no lack of effort, but moreso through being partnered with different centre-backs every week, and then starting at right-back. 6. Abdul Baba Rahman - 5 - hard to judge a player who is so clearly unfavoured by the manager, but he's looked okay in his few appearances. Seems shaky defensively, but he is a young man. Certainly a good crosser of the ball and can be a more attacking option ahead of Azpilicueta. 24. Gary Cahill - 6 - our best centre-back this season (though there hasn't been much competition). He's struggled like the rest of them, but it's been him bailing out Terry this season, rather than it being the other way around. 26. John Terry - 4 - we all love John Terry, but this season so far has indicated his time has come. He shouldn't retire, but the sooner he takes on a part-time playing role, the better. 28. Cesar Azpilicueta - 7 - Mr. Reliable - yet even he has endured some poor matches this season. It does, however, speak volumes that almost all of the goals we've conceded this season have come down the opposite flank to his. The best defensive full-back in the world, no question. Midfielders 4. Cesc Fabregas - 3 - he's been hopeless, for the most part. José has tried him in the deeper role which he thrived in last season; then in the attacking three where his defensive frailties are less exposed. Equally useless in both capacities. 7. Ramires - 5 - he has struggled with injury, but has looked relatively sound when he's played. Defensively fantastic and his work-rate cannot be faulted, but he kills every single attack we make with poor passing. 8. Oscar - 5 - it's no surprise that we've been at our best this season when Oscar has worked his magic, but those moments have been few and far-between, and his inconsistency, coupled with a niggling injury or two, have made it a frustrating campaign so far. 10. Eden Hazard - 2 - the word "fraud" has been bandied about and it is not too bold to use such emotive language to describe Hazard's transformation from being one of the world's best players last season to one of the biggest flops of 2015/16. Is he tired, has he fallen out with Mourinho, does he even want to be at Chelsea in the first place? Who knows, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him packing his bags in the summer. 12. John Mikel Obi - 6 - there is no surprise here. Mikel does a job. He rarely has "good" or "bad" games. He's just Mikel, and he gives us a stable platform in midfield. Unlike Ramires, he can make simple passes, though he lacks the Brazilian's dynamism and speed. 16. Kenedy - 6 - we've seen little of him, and that is a surprise considering how poor Hazard and Pedro have been. He's looked lively, without ever trying too hard. Mourinho's record of youth integration is poor, so perhaps his lack of inclusion is explained by that fact alone. 17. Pedro - 4 - we seem to have signed the Spanish Jesper Grønkjær. Brilliant one game (his debut, for instance) and unbelievably atrocious the next. However, he is still adapting to English football. He deserves the benefit of the doubt because his quality is unquestionable. 21. Nemanja Matic - 5 - he hasn't been as bad as everyone has made out. He's been doing the work of two midfielders because of Fabregas' shortcomings; hence why his best games have come when he has had the help of either Mikel or Ramires in midfield. He's had some excellent performances this season, but he is still a shadow of his 2014 self. 22. Willian - 8 - with this man, is it a case of him being brilliant outright, or just good in comparison to the turgid performances of his team-mates? I'd say a bit of both, but the way he has reacted to the signing of Pedro has been incredible. His work-rate can never be faulted, but he is now offering a greater attacking output and has already matched his goal return in 2013/14 in 42 appearances, and in 2014/15 in 49 appearances, in just 9 games this season. A return of a dozen would be a fair contribution to a man who is effectively our right-back. 36. Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 6 - similar to the fuss over Zouma, Ruben is not the answer to our midfield failings. He does, however, deserve more of a chance, because he has at least been industrious in midfield for us. He is a better option than Fabregas, at present, but simply lacks the famous name Mourinho requires to play him. Forwards 9. Radamel Falcao - 2 - okay, I admit it. I got this one wrong. I was excited about Falcao, because I thought he would suit our style of play. Plus, with it only being a loan, if it didn't work out, it wouldn't be a disaster where we have to offload him. However, he is simply a Mourinho vanity project. The fact we replaced Didier Drogba with this guy makes it even worse. He can go in January; bring back Bamford. 18. Loic Remy - 5 - hard to judge a man who must have killed one of Mourinho's relatives. Frustrating to watch as he tries too hard at times. Deserves more of a shot. 19. Diego Costa - 4 - when you have a man more interested in murdering an opposition centre-back than scoring, you know you're going to be in trouble. Needs to sort himself out.

Time for some honest player evaluation. Yes, we can point the finger here, there, and everywhere, but the fact is that it is those eleven blokes out on the pitch who are ultimately responsible for performances and results. Simply copy and paste the squad list below (N.B. I have only included those players who have made a minimum of three appearances) and give the players a rating out of 10, followed by a brief explanation: Goalkeepers 1. Asmir Begovic13. Thibaut Courtois Defenders 2. Branislav Ivanovic5. Kurt Zouma6. Abdul Baba Rahman24. Gary Cahill26. John Terry28. Cesar Azpilicueta Midfielders 4. Cesc Fabregas7. Ramires8. Oscar10. Eden Hazard12. John Mikel Obi16. Kenedy17. Pedro21. Nemanja Matic22. Willian36. Ruben Loftus-Cheek Forwards 9. Radamel Falcao18. Loic Remy19. Diego Costa

Not taken as a dig at all mate! Just proves a point, doesn't it? Look at that squad - twice the squad we have now.
-
I understand why people want him out, but the clear ingratitude here is staggering. You are entitled to want him gone, but he doesn't deserve such blatant disrespect.

Begovic/Amelia Azpi - Cahill - Zouma - Baba Mikel - Ramires Kenedy - RLC - Remy Falcao

I don't even know what to say. At a total loss. Totally undecided right now. Reasons to sack Mourinho: It's clearly not "just" the players. Tactics are stale, team selection is predictable and certainly not on merit. Problems seem to be coming from the coach. He's becoming an embarrassment. Barging into the officials' changing room? Unacceptable. And what excuses will he conjure up in his interview today? Actually, just found out he's refused to speak to the media. Wow. He's been given a fair amount of time to turn things around (two months) and things have, arguably, only gotten worse. How much longer do you give him when there has been no visible improvement? You no longer get the feeling that he can turn things around, like he once used to. Has he lost his spark, or the dressing room - or both?Reasons NOT to sack Mourinho: We need stability. The board have backed him and it would be easy to press the panic button.Who else can we bring in? Ancelotti wouldn't want to come back after getting the sack for finishing 1st and 2nd in his two seasons. There's really no-one better available right now.How much can we really blame him? He wasn't backed by the board in the transfer window. Instead of signing Pogba and Stones and keeping Cech, like he wanted to, we signed Stoke's number one, replaced a club legend with a failure and signed Michael fucking Hector to solve our defensive crisis. Pedro aside, we failed in the transfer window. We learnt nothing from City's implosion last season because they, similarly, did not strengthen.See things out til the end of the season and see where we are. Other managers may be available - Pep, anyone? - and that way we're not burdened by another interim manager the same way we have been in 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2013. When you put it like that, it shows how embarrassingly quick we are to fire managers. He's the best manager in the club's history and has earned the right to dig us out of this mess.

Let's try and do a better job of defending this trophy.
-
Begovic - 4 - at fault for the first goal and looked hopeless with his distribution all game Zouma - 4 - worse than Ivanovic at RB Terry - 4 - shocking Cahill - 6 - a decent performance from our best defender on the day Azpi - 5 - struggled both offensively and defensively Matic - 1 - let the team down Ramires - 5 - he tried, can't fault his effort but just not good enough technically Fabregas - 4 - offside goal was harsh but anonymous all game Hazard - 2 - abysmal Willian - 7 - such a shame as he was terrific again Costa - 4 - completely nullified all game. SUBS - Mikel - 7 - better than Fabregas and Matic combined Falcao - 3 - what was the point? Baba - N/A - might as well leave in January
-
Win at Stoke and at home to Liverpool, or he'll be gone.
-
ONE ENGLAND CAPTAIN
-
Another for the loan army. FFP and all that jazz.
-
He did, and he had the best seat in the house.
-
Two points dropped whichever way you try to sugarcoat it. Thanks for your feedback.
-
Begovic - 7 - had little to do, but what he needed to deal with he did so with great competence. Zouma - 6 - looked very uncomfortable at right-back but put in a good - but not spectacular - performance which helped us to maintain a defensive structure. Almost non-existent going forward. Cahill - 8 - a good performance, bailed Terry out on a couple of occasions and read the game well. Marshalled the defence effectively. Terry - 6 - not a poor game, but not convincing, either. A poor clearance could have killed us and his passing from the back lacked its usual incisiveness. Azpilicueta - 8 - flawless against a talented winger. Nothing else needs to be said. Fabregas - 6 - better from him in the first half, but when the going got tough after the break, he vanished. Deservedly pulled off, though his incisive passing was missing as we pushed for a late winner. Matic - 8 - his best performance in some time, but he really, really should have scored. His lack of presence in the attacking third is what differentiates him from other deep-lying midfielders in the Premier League such as Herrera or Toure. Ramires - 6 - defensively imperious, but he killed every attack. Literally. All of their attacks, and all of ours, too. His inability to complete a basic five-yard pass slowed down attack after attack, but his dynamism in midfield makes us a lot harder to break down. Hazard - 5 - glimpses, but that's it. Invisible for much of the game. Deservedly benched at the weekend and he can have no complaints if the same transpires on Saturday. Willian - 7 - he had a mixed night from set-pieces - one brilliant delivery that Costa should have buried and another that hit the woodwork - but the rest of his free-kicks were wasted and criminally underhit. His defensive work-rate is fantastic and at the moment he is the only player in the midfield who should have a guaranteed starting spot based on merit alone. Costa - 5 - he had some good moments in the first half, but should have scored from a Willian free-kick. Easily nullified by the opposition. Sub - Oscar - 5 - little chance to make an impact on the game in his 15-minute cameo.
