Liverpool will finish top 4 if the manager can get the best out of those players and keep Gerrard fit all season. Gerrard might not be the world-beater anymore, but he is like John Terry - a pill of calmness and efficiency. Sahin's a great signing for them - quite surprised he's chosen to join the Scouse, but he will definitely get game time. Might as well lock this then.

Apparently he's had family problems, hence the delay in the deal.

Hulk is an entirely different option to what we've currently got, and yet people are against the move? Forget the price. You're not paying it, so it is entirely irrelevant.

I absolutely hate this guy. But I have a grudging respect for him. Just like I had with Torres. That means he is destined to fail

Yes, two birds with one stone. Kakuta won't become anything more than a squad player at OM.

Sam won't play that often for us, but I actually feel he is a solid substitute to have about. He'll play 15 or so games if he stays with us, or he could play 40 for Forest. Going out on loan to a big club like that would be a good career move, and be a way of gauging his fitness over the course of a season.

No, its because they're too cheap to buy the broadcasting rights for Sky's coverage. Smh.

Xpert 11 - are you up to the challenge?

I haven't had one in ages! You actually tend to get them quicker if you submit their names to the league admin. -
Looks far better than before. We'd had the previous template from 2009 and it was starting to show its age.

He's turning into a thug.

David Luiz is probably telling him to keep his girlfriend away from JT.

Artur I'm banning you for that, fucking terrible. I love Eden. Everyone seems to hate him because he joined a successful club. He'll rip Wigan to shreds, mark my words.

I don't see the point in bumping a thread that's been dead for three months to say something you can post in a match thread... Locked.

I was expecting fuck-off highlights. The coverage for the group games is actually identical to what we had on the season review. There wasn't even any build-up. No pre-match interviews with AVB or the players, no footage of the players training. It improves with the knock-out games, and there is a good 10-12 minutes dedicated to the final itself. But it is lacking, massively. The extras are good, with the interviews and the Drogba tribute, as well as highlights of the victory parade. But I was hoping for a Chelsea through-the-years feature, that looked at all the highs and lows of our previous Champions League exploits. What better way to cemmorate our European pedigree than on this commemorative DVD? Its a very basic package.

Imagine if we could get both for £15m... I'm happy that we're at least addressing the need for reinforcement.

I've said it so many times. In January 2011, us and City signed the wrong strikers. Torres would be an absolute beast up front for them, and Dzeko is a perfect fit for us. Oh well.
-
Haha, Ivanovic should go and find Geoff Shreeves and tell him "You do know I won't miss the next game, don't you?"
-
So they're slightly extended highlights then? Will give it a watch later then.
-
Probably... not sure if Torres has been called up, though. He'll probably end up suffering a broken leg if he has...

Branislav Ivanovic is available for Chelsea's next match - against Wigan in the Premier League curtain-opener - despite his red card at Villa Park in Sunday's Community Shield clash. The incident came as the first half between the Blues and Manchester City came to a close at Villa Park. Moments after Fernando Torres had expertly clipped the European champions ahead, Chelsea's number 2 was shown a straight red card by referee Kevin Friend for a late and aggressive two-footed tackle on fellow countryman Aleksandr Kolarov. Yet FA sanctions dictate that any suspension received in a non-competitive match will not be carried over into official competitions, following an amendment to the rules in August 2009. This reprieve does little to paper over the cracks of the Serb's woeful recent form, however. Consistently poor displays during pre-season as well as periodic episodes of petulance towards the close of the 2011/12 campaign have been enough to persuade Roberto di Matteo to look elsewhere for right-back options, with Olympique de Marseilles' Spanish full-back Cesar Azpilicueta supposedly the top target. Therefore Ivanovic will not serve a three-game ban, and he is available for selection against Wigan on Sunday afternoon. Click here to view the article

FFS. What's the point in that? Will watch it myself before passing judgement though. Came in the post today but I can't be arsed watching it tbh.

I'm getting the feeling that Roberto is turning us into a cup-conquering side, in all honesty. I think we're going to struggle in the league. Why? For a very simple reason. Unless Oscar happens to be the Second Coming and Mata can maintain his form throughout the entire season, and Torres can bang in the ball at least 25 times, we're going to struggle for goals. Big time. We need more strikers. Last season we struggled and we had Drogba, Anelka, Kalou and Lukaku. Now we just have Torres and Sturridge.

There's no way I'm reading through 600 plus comments and then splitting them all into two posts, so you can lump it mate!
