He played alright. Lets just agree to disagree. He isnt everyones cup of tea and I get it but this forum there are certain players who I do get arent great players but get a huge amount of flak or OTT comments because people are being rash in the heat of the moment. I mean he could have had 10 assists tonight and if we still lost 11-10 people would again throw him under the bus. Even that Salah chance, he missed fuck sake, I mean Salah is world class, Mane is world class, Firmino is world class but I feel that James and Alonso did not bad with the two wide men but I bet there will be praise for Reece and no acknowledgement of a half decent performance by Alonso against wingers who would tear better fullbacks to shreds. Not just average ones. The game was basically done. 3-1 down, having to push even further up with one of the poorest defences in the top 10 of the league and attacking with the poorest conversion rate of big chances created - looking at it statistically - against the best counter attacking team in the world, it was pretty much done in my eyes. Thats why we have signed a better CF and goalscoring attacking midfielder and want defenders/improvement in defensive coaching. If it was Hazard and Costa uptop okay we would have a chance at 3-1 but it wasnt so I would say it was done. Also saying it wasnt done then using a offside chance as a indication as to why it wasnt done just makes no sense. I still fancy Liverpool could have went up another gear, I dont think they played as well as they have in other matches in spells of the game. Plus you also notice how for a period of the game between that goal we sat off a bit? It wasnt just Marcos sitting back closer to near the CB. It was a recurring theme for a while, we pressed, sat off in our shape, pressed, sat off again. I will watch the game again tomorrow at somepoint if I can and probably still have the same opinion.

The reaction at the time for Courtois was typically OTT, the usuals with the oh hes finished at the top level etc only for him to have arguably gone and been the most consistent GK of the last 18 months in Europe. People forget GKs can have bad seasons. I wouldnt say Kepa has been poor from week 1 to now but his mistakes which there have been a few haven't helped. It would seem last seasons very good performances, where many thought hes more than good enough to replace ‘that shit cunt Courtois/whatever other incorrect brash insults’ were made about him has in typical Chelsea fans fashion gone out the window. Lets not forget even Big Pete had some howlers towards the end of his spell here (really bad half season under Andre before Di Matteo came in) before having arguably one of the most iconic run of CL games a GK has ever had imo.

Yet if he dived in and got beaten you'd also complain. Even more so because pace isnt his strength. The cross in was phenomenal tbf, right where any forward would want it. Again Jorginho was hardly bad, he was another who was okay tonight, ok he should of wiped out Robertson but again, you wouldn’t associate that sort of side of the game with any of our boys playing in MF. The overreaction of a game that was essentially done in the first half is astonishing. Even at 3-1 was far too much and meant they had us where they wanted us, simple as that. Pulisic not starting and playing a back 3 v that front 3 was a bad sign from before a ball was kicked.
-
Honestly didnt think he was bad tonight again and this is a severe overreaction as there normally is with Marcos. The goal Trent crossed in, it was a brilliant cross, hats off. i get hes not everyone’s cup of tea but jesus christ.

I think no top 4 - it could be something the club looks at but probably highly unlikely. You want to give managers time but again, 12 points clear 6 months ago to relying on a last week fixture it doesnt look good. We sacked Di Matteo sitting 2nd, sacked Carlo when he finished second etc so if it happened, although I doubt it will, you would not exactly be surprised with the way football is. I know its a different time and squad but to blow that 12 points regardless of your manager in the manner we did looks bad. I still think we will make it v Wolves and win the FA cup but it covers the cracks a bit. I know we lost Hazard in the summer but the definitive thing from this season that has caused us a lot of grief is the backline. We werent particularly clinical under Sarri either so the conversion while its been a big issue isnt as bad as the defences inconsistency and obvious signs of regress imo. I do agree with what Tomo said in this thread top 4 and a potential cup win isnt the worst season and weve seen the promise, the good, the bad but it cannot be the same next season in terms of losing 12 or 13 PL games or losing such a gap. Thats why I think we will give Lampard next season to improve on this one.
-
The first and second goals were a bit out of his hands imo but the Oxlade-Chamberlain one he has to do better. Also that FK with Rudi roaring at him summed his season up even after he did well coming off his line to get that TAA pass and prevent a shooting chance. Still a fan and will be because he has the right tools to be a very good GK but somethings not right with him, probably 10 games this season you could say hes performed poorly and been at fault for some of the goals but I think he will be under intense scrutiny next season if this continues or isnt replaced. We've seen him play well here just need to hope he comes back refreshed and improves and is more consistent but the same goes for the whole defence. Courtois had a similar season in that year before we got Conte as manager so I do hope if he remains he can do much better.
-
Have to agree. Or even those 2 wide in a 4231 with Willian, who can still offer something, as a 10 and push the wingers up on their right and left sided CBs.
-
The GK, CB and LB that all played last season havent changed bar Luiz and Cahill. Its not solely down to the players quality or lack of it. Its been a mix of coaching, making mistakes and poor conversion of big chances. Top 4 and a FA cup final still covers over the cracks. So does signing Werner and Ziyech and maybe Havertz
-
Its more ‘doom and gloom’ because we somehow are in a position where finishing 4th by one or two points is the best outcome when we had a 11 or 12 point gap 6 months ago.
-
Hes played virtually 90% of games hes been fit for since October which indicates you haven’t been watching or taking anything in. One of the stupidest posts I have ever seen.
-
Or if your going to at least try wipe him out when he knocks it past.... Another fk to defend fuck me
-
Kepa should of done better there but was always too little too late and far too easy for Licerpool. Benching Pulisic was ill fated hes been the best player in the game since coming on. To concede on the break from a attacking free kick is ridiculous. Typical.
-
Too little too late.
-
Giroud. Alonso and Willian do well there. Bit of luck it fell to Oli but a lifeline maybe.
-
honestly 2 of the goals were unsaveable. Second one wasnt even a foul for the FK. For the third one, Reece sleeping there.... should of been closer to Wjinaldum there almost as if hes expecting us to clear the first one. Getting a proper doing now. Also the three times weve worked ourselves in to good positions x2 with Mason one with Willian the first touch or end ball has been awful.
-
Could argue the case if he had shown a lot more. but he really hasnt and it would be like someone praising Bakayoko for his time in France and maybe 4 or 5 matches here. decent start, Mount should have hit the target with that header. Also dont know what James is doing there when he slowed the ball right down after winning it back, waken up pal.
-
Tbf he is normally quite good I feel with his analysis. His one with Grealish for me is spot on despite the Arsenal game and many other ones such as the discussions with United and other things over the years.
-
Souness and Barnes banging on about Naby Keita as if hes a 18 year old kid.... he has been a dud basically so far despite all his talent in his 2 seasons.
-
I know we can still get top 4 if Leicester get beat by United but get a win here. Another big game. Its doable.
-
sky sports also reporting it. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12033127/callum-hudson-odoi-unhappy-with-lack-of-game-time-at-chelsea If he wants to he a midtable player let him go because right now I would say that is where he is at. Hasnt done anything of note bar the game v Newcastle this season. Loaning him probably best move for both parties, especially if Havertz signs. Cant see Bayern being interested anymore and with a 5 year deal signed we have all the power now in terms of negotiations.

Insane. A pair of fuckwits if you ask me. Especislly Heard a lot of stuff going around that she used make up to produce these ‘bruises’ that miraculously weren't there when the police got involved, or seen in photos not long after. Now I am no Dr but a bruise doesnt just miraculously disappear and even with make up it wouldnt be that easy to hide it, would it? Obviously a lot of shit Depp done that was also out of order and both are as bad as each other but if the sun newspaper hadnt called him a wife beater we wouldnt have heard any of it. Hopefully it comes to an end I am sick of seeing it on the news or in the papers. The shit about him objecting to her doing nude/sex scenes in movies is odd, not to sexualise her in anyway because she is a hugely talented actress and successful one but because in modern day movies and TV shows these nude/sex scenes are so frequent that it must be difficult to not find many big and successful projects that require it. Obviously there is movies or shows that don't but these things in shows and movies probably attract more viewers (defos a huge amount of horny teenagers 😂) but the likes of these things on netflix or amazon or other tv shows such as GoT, Carnival Row, Power, Ozark, The Americans etc as well as many other genres or types of movies such as the 50 shades movies, that 365 whatever, Gone Girl, or whatever else use sex or nudity a lot because it draws viewers in and fits their story or narrative. hopefully as I said before this shit in the media stops because it is a steaming pile of shit nobody is probably particularly interested in at this moment of time. Not that physical or verbal abuse is acceptable in any form to that extent but christ, this media circus and the social media influencers etc that are going to influence people the next generations are tedious, shallow human beings. Fucking Katie Price in the papers again everytime she gets a new set of tits or goes bankrupt or is shagging a new bloke for the 837473th time in a year or whatever as well. There really is so much more going on in the Uk and rest of the world that this shit doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near these news outlets. I mean im just about in my mid 20s and I am sick to death of these fucking influencer knobs or these stupid newspaper articles about shit like the Kardashians going on holidays or Kylie Jenner buying a over priced car or whatever or Katie Price as mentioned above or these love island/made in chelsea delinquents with their hollywood smiles and clothing lines because they go on tv and make a cunt of themselves and never have to lift a finger to make money like everyone else. It just makes people think being thick as fuck is good and that you can go and become one of these people or fall down that path by taking 100 photos a day in branded clothing and tag them in it and put 403 hashtags after it 😂 then people complain that years later they’ve done nothing productive with their lives. rant over I suppose. Fuck the influencers

He is an option though. Those guys may not play every game due to injuries or loss of form or suspensions or tactics etc. He will be a very good option to have around the squad if he can find more consistency.
-
I think more regular goal scorers in the squad will take the burden off Tammy next season. He will have to go again and beat this season’s numbers particularly his goal return in 2020 but I do think with how dependent we were on him first half of the season for goals, he is due a bit of slack. Its a lot to ask for a team of our stature to have pinned our hopes of 20 goals a season from a frontman on a relatively unproven CF who’s best returns have been in the championship. Mount and Hudson-Odoi also have to score more too to progress. Ziyech and Werner will provide more cutting edge and so will Havertz but it is very key to have good goals and assist returns from multiple players when trying to compete for trophies. I think weve missed this for a while, even with Costa and Hazard, Pedro and Willian weren’t quite as prolific as they could have been, particularly Pedro (altho under Sarri he was a lot more). Even the CBs we used to have would probably average 5 goals a season: Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Luiz... plus Alonso was in and around the goals his first 2 seasons more often than not.
-
If we recruit those and they are good players, a comfortable 3rd place has to be the bare minimum in terms of goals. If not then it has to be looked at as a poor season. Even with Kai, Werner and Ziyech we should be looking to finish much better than we will this year. With those and the likes of Mount, Pulisic and Tammy kicking on in second seasons (they have to IMO), youd think the big chances created to conversion ratio will be better, meaning more points (hopefully). The expectations will be raised based on our recruitment.

Pochettino apparently being lined up to go to Juve next season despite their result tonight and effectively tying the league up barring a disaster. Will be a great appointment if it happens.
