A year and a half? A year and a half ago Mikel was putting on one of the best performances I've seen by a holding midfielder in the champions league final no less. Yes he had an inconsistent bad season last time around but so did quite a lot of our players. It does not warrant all the hate he gets which has anyway been going on even when he was putting in great performances under Carlo. Yes, I should only stalk the Mikel thread and attack anyone who praises him. You haven't posted for a couple of days but less than two minutes since I made post you were quick to attack. Yeah you can definitely punch above your weight with the right tactics, in fact I've probably been doing just that since I started playing the game. Only this season that I have one of the better squads in the PL. I remember my first two seasons in the PL I finished 3rd when I literally had the worst squad in the entire league. But eventually there is of course a limit.

But how strong was the opposition compared to now? I finished second on goal difference only a couple of seasons back when I only had 1 or 2 players with 8 skill levels but Term's squad was so much weaker than now.

You've blamed him for results when he wasn't even with the team by insulting him for playing with his NT in the AFCONs and then called him a "weak human being" when you couldn't find anything football related to criticize about him But, nooo, of course Mikel has never been used as a scapegoat.

Mind you Bayern have enough quality to play and retrieve the ball so high up the pitch that their fullbacks can play the of the traditional wingers. But if you noticed in the second half against us, Ribery cut inside less often and tried to put in much more crosses with him sometimes exchanging positions with Shaqiri when he came on so that the later can provide the crosses. You always need someone to play the role of the winger and provide width when you're chasing a result.

That sounds so dirty! Great to see him back on form after that injury. I've always said that Josh should be given a chance with the first team and not on loan, but atm MVK is struggling to make the bench, so I hope to see him go loan soon.

Keeper stats say more about the defense than the keeper himself. Athletico have by far the best defense in the La Liga while our defense has mostly been in shambles since 2010-11. Without even looking at the stats I could have told you that Courtois would have let in fewer goals and kept more clean sheets while Cech would certainly have saved more shots.

Couldn't agree more. I was so happy to see Schurrle being deployed on the right wing against Bayern and he was so effective. But they can be so effective, especially at top teams where the opposition will likely congest the center. Just look at how well they have worked for united over the years.
