Are we talking about the same box-to-box midfielder that scored 12 goals in 41 appearances for Vitesse last season?

Why would we want to loan him out, though? He's 28, all a lone does is decrease his market value if we want to sell him next year. Either keep him or sell him.

Reading on twitter that SSN are reporting that he's in talks to go back to Newcastle on loan (haven't seen SSN themselves reporting it though).

Brilliant. I wanted to do the exact same analysis but I don't think I would have made it this well.

No I actually like the idea of loaning him out with all the wingers we have now, but not necessarily to Liverpool. Idealy I would have liked him to play a role here like he did last season if we had not bought Willian (and that guy who's last name sounds like a sneeze).

He can't play the holding midfielder role against a team like Manchester. And we're only figuring this out now?! You need a genuine holding midfielder if you're going to play 4-2-3-1 and challenge for the title and Ramires is not one.

We did not park the bus and just let them have the ball in our half today. The genius of Jose's plans is that it stops the other team from even creating anything. He did it today just like he did it in the second half against Hull just like he did it countless times in his last stint here. When you park the bus you need a lot of luck and a lot of last ditch defending because the other team will inevitably create chances. This is different, yes Benitez managed to do it in our home game against City but couldn't repeat the act at the Etihad. It's not as easy at it looks and it does take a tactical genius to pull off.

Then after that we have City (or is Norwich before it?). September will be very tough, but then we have two months with relatively easier fixtures. If we can avoid our winter slump we can use those two months to hopefully create a little gap at the top. But we're getting way ahead of ourselves here.

He didn't say anything about 48 hours on Al Jazeera. I think Jose is saying that to rush him. I think whether he says or leaves this is going to the final day of the market.

I didn't think he played badly. Great work-rate, but his movement is not that of a lone striker. I still much prefer him on the wing and thought he did better when he was moved there after Torres came on.
