The Capital One Cup draw took place at 19:45 pm today and has resulted in Chelsea hosting Bolton at the Bridge in third round. https://twitter.com/CapitalOne_Cup/status/504735233179406336 The match will be played during the week commencing on 22nd September 2014. I was personally hoping for a clash against Manchester United, but as Chelsea TV's Lee Parker put it: Couldn't have put it better my self! Click here to view article.

MVG Rejects Milan - Does This Kill The Torres Deal?
CHOULO19 replied to CHOULO19's topic in Chelsea Articles
Obviously. No Torres to Milan means No Destro. That's what I'm afraid of. He'll play the Capital One games and possibly the first coupld eof FA cup games. But that might be it. I do hope I'm wrong. -
Bloody hell!

FFS Barbara. Now I have that "explicit" image in my mind! I have one word for you: It rhymes with 'awesome'

I surely hope so, but I just fear for him. We've suffered too much with young players like Marco to not have a lot of concerns.

Marco Van Ginkel has today rejected a proposed loan move to AC Milan despite Italian club agreeing a deal for the Dutchman with Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano. https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/statuses/504662736199241728 Marco's decision comes as somewhat of a shock after Adriano Galliani, the club's CEO and vice president, expressed his confidence that the 21 year old will be part of his team this coming season: “We are confident, we made our proposal to Chelsea and are now waiting for an answer. We hope to be able to sign him.” Van Ginkel's decision to stay and fight for a place in a very competitive Chelsea squad is very admirable, especially that he would almost certainly got considerably more playing time at the Serie A side. But perhaps more concerning for Chelsea fans is how this twist in the plot might affect Fernando Torres' proposed move to Milan. The Italians had already made an official bid to take 30 year-old striker on a season long loan with an obligation to buy him at the end of it. "Our goal is to take a great striker. Fernando Torres? He is a great striker." Galliani was quoted saying. "Let’s see if he comes or someone else. We are actively working." But falling through of the Van Ginkel deal in addition to Torres' incredibly high wages may we mean that the Italian side may end up with Fabio Borini or Roberto Soldado. Click here to view article.

Great attitude by the lad to want to stay and fight for his place here, but I fear this may not be the best decision for his development. Obviously it's too early to tell, especially with so little game time to go around at the moment, but I fear what happened to Kalas last season will happen to Marco this year.

I hope it's Mirallas. Naismith seems to always play great and score against us...
-
I didn't watch it. But Martinez did the same thing against Arsenal last season, so it's likely just a tactic he uses against Arsenal alone.

Who do Everton have other than Lukaku and Eto'o if the former is injured and the latter unfit? Would Martinez have to resort to playing Naismith as a striker?

Someone said this on Twitter yesterday and I thought he was spot on: Pragmatism is a virtue in football. Sticking with a philosophy, not always.

Dare to Demba, my friend. Dare to Demba!

Can't blame it all on the squad. They certainly a squad better than MK f***ing Dons!
-
United have an unbalanced squad and LVG is playing a system that does not fit them or the whole football culture of England.
-
But that's exactly it. Had he said no to united, Real would have been forced to accept lower bids. They can't force him to move to united. It's his choice.
-
He was one of the best players in Europe last season and he was arguably the best player in the WC. Of course he had other options, he'd walk into almost any team in the world. He just opted for united because they are offering higher wages than anyone else and I expect Madrid also pushed for it as well because utd were probably willing to pay the highest fee.

Let's not get off topic, especially with a very "volatile" subject.
-
I heard he was headed for the nearest bridge...at full speed...with no intentions of stopping when he gets there! In all seriousness, I do feel kinda sorry for him. He's a marvelous player and he just walked into a huge, possibly career-damaging, mistake.

Tim Sherwood for the united job! Someone, anyone, make this happen, please! :D
-
So...has he handed in a transfer request at united yet?!
