Doubling up on Stoke defense may not be such a great idea. Under Mark Hughes, they have not been as good at the back as before. The key word would be 'Modern' . Wingers today are expected to shoot and shoot well so in a way they can be classified as strikers. In a more traditional way(on in the FPL way), teams consist of Defense, Midfielders and Strikers so probably he is referring to him as a striker.
