An old Ferrari is always a Ferrari, it was top of the line in its day when people(clubs - Chelsea) payed top dollar for it. Even today, that Ferrari can give any car a run for its money, but it is losing its resale value after 7 years of ownership and is not getting any newer or better. Today it gives a great ride, tomorrow it is stuttering and dayafter is unpredictable as well. Car parts(players) and Emission standards (club mentality) have changed significantly, and those changes mean that even though this ferrari can give any car a run for its money, its time it was driven by another owner on another road. It is time to let emotional connections go with your old ferrari, and forge new ones with a brand new Ferrari. I drive a civic.

Dont rate Hulk at all. I still think in overall play, link up etc Torres is better. Both are not good enough though. I would rather keep Torres than get another expensive player on Torres+ salary who is not good enough. Schurlle has a great foot too and has hulk like qualities but with more game.
-
possibly, but i remember last summer during the transfer window there was another guy on twitter who over the summer got some 100,000 followers because he was tweeting some transfer story from his "source".... maybe it was about hulk? But anyways, it was all over this forum as well, and in the end it ended up being some 15 year old kid who called all his followers idiots and fools etc, and said it was all fake and how gullible everyone is. Anyhow, you get my point. After that episode you should take most twitter folks with sources with as much scepticism as possible. However, you also cant discount that he has a source. Tancredi was sure cavani would be done in 48 hours and way more people believed that "journalist".

Next season is going to be a defining season for Oscar IMO. It will be the season where he either establishes himself in our spine, or is an important player but who doesnt get every game. Wherever he plays, he needs to score more goals, more assists and must impose himself more. This season he adjusted, had alot of games in the calendar year. He shone moderately and showed he can get better. Now he has mourinho and probably more players who are in sync. He has to take it up a few notches this season. During transition, it is the performances, effort etc that matter. But moving forward, stats come in to the picture as well. He will undoubtedly continue his good performances this season, but its a must he gets the stats as well.

Hey guys, i know this is a little off, and its been a while, but has there been any official interest/quotes directly from chelsea that indicate we are going for him at all?? as far as i understand, all that happened was basic media speculation, then De Laurentes saying he is expecting a call from chelsea( if speculation is true), which did not come, and later he said there is not even any official interest from chelsea and what he has heard is all rumors from the media. Am i missing something here apart from the Tancredis etc and their "sources"?
-
Really hope we dont buy him and he gets his dream move.
-
He would be good for us if we were to play 4-4-2 Lukaku-Rooney Forward line is devastating.
-
Backing your own player for a change is a good thing sometimes.
-
Well thats the way you view it, and you may be right. But not every youth player turns up and lives up to their expectations. Marko Marin was supposed to be the German Messi when he was doing the rounds at U19s . I just hope sometime in the future, Chelsea is not viewed as the destroyer of his career as well.

I dont want Cavani because i want Lukaku leading our Line, whether that means we win the premiership or not, is unknown. Cavani in anycase wants to go to Real, and if they dont buy him, he will come to us. Dont want a player who is "Settling" for us. He can go to hell for all i care. Lukaku gives a damn and has it all. That doesnt mean we should not sell torres. We should sell Torres and buy a solid striker. Doesnt need to be the falcao or cavanis of this world. That striker should be on level terms with Lukaku and Ba, fostering competition for places rather than a given. I really wanted Cavani and Falcao to begin with, but over time i realised that i am becoming a glory hunter , when we have immense talents, we cant always not give them a chance, specially after they have proven themselves elsewhere. Everyone has different opinions, but atleast for me, the club is hollow if all we do is go out and buy players others have produced. Its like the difference between getting laid, or paying to get laid. Id rather get laid on my own merits and be proud, rather than to have bought my way to sex and know deep inside that i am a shallow and hollow human being, and club.

Chelsea did not destroy him at all. He is the most annoying player to watch 80% of the time, IMO. May he flourish elsewhere after 7 years at Chelsea.
-
Not to be a buzzkill, but if De Laurentis was actually in London, then dont you think there would be some sort of Images taken of him, even if he was eating a sandwich somewhere, it would be online being passed around with hashtags and what not.
-
This news made my day. Thanks Mikel for not being a controversial player and trying to get better. BUT on a personal note : YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Now we can go and get the type of Holding Midfielder that this club needs, Or Luiz.( I rate him highly)

Four times a day when i see 80-90 people reading this topic..... but with nothing official...
-
Exactly. My point being Chelsea are not going to :"SIGN" Cavani in the next 48 hrs, if anything, we will agree a fee with Napoli. From then on it is real madrid's move. It would be the correct move on their part to officially announce a manager before buying a player, however, stranger things have happened. If Madrid want Cavani, they will get him. He will choose his dream club over us.
-
NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TILL MADRID ANNOUNCE THEIR MANAGER. We may agree a fee with Napoli, that is it. Once Madrid have a new manager, then it will be up to them to either go for Cavani or not. If Madrid decide not to go for him, then he is ours. Therefore, this 48 hrs thing is bullshit. We should know whether he will be in london or madrid in the days after madrid have their manager. If they did not want Cavani, then they would have said it, or Cavani would have implied it in the media, instead of saying Madrid is my dream etc..... We simply have to wait if we want him.
-
I agree completely.... we should be challenging next season, but what i meant was that if they can become real blues by the end of this season and an important part of our squad, i wont shed too many tears if we come second of lose in semis etc.... I expect to win something though.... we are already joint favourites for every domestic trophy along with city....
-
Frankly, at this point in my life and Chelsea's successes in the last 10 years, i dont care if we dont win much next season, as long as Lukaku and Debruyne are integrated into our team. Its about time we become a club that has the ability to spot talent and make them into superstars. Im tired of being a buying club. There is absolutely no joy in watching players blossom when we have paid Big Big bucks for them, as that is expected. Cavani or any other huge name will not increase the profile of the club at all, it is the ability to build from within that will increase the profile and respect of the club, and kind of rebuild its soul. We needed to spend and go all crazy to get where we are, but now we need to have a sustainable model, and Cavani at 60 mill is certainly not that. He is a great player, but i simply dont want him here as that in my view , means we are not moving forward. Not a popular opinion, but there are shades of truth in every opinion on here.
-
Id actually prefer Lukaku to be given the chance of leading our team..... He will surely do well and loves the club. Cavani is not the be all and end all of all things chelsea.... He is just someone who happens to be available this season, for a horrendous price. I say give Lukaku the chance. I know he will own everyone and become a legend. I want us to develop talent and make superstars. Lukaku IMO is our first and most promising prospect to do that, If we buy Cavani then whats the point.
-
If we sell him, i will take it as we have sold our soul. I will never forgive our board. and mourinho.
-
Sure, he is a decent player. But in my view he never fulfilled his potential over these 7 years. It was great when he was improving when he was second choice and knocking on the door of first choice, but as a first choice, we as a club need a player with stronger and better attributes than him. He can go and thrive in another league, but as of today and the future, i dont see mikel as our midfield anchor. I understand you rate him highly, and i wish him all the best. However, if we sell him, and he is a top player, then top teams should want him.
-
Just had a moment of clarity regarding Mikel, havent read much of earlier posts buthere goes.... Debating whether he is good enough or not good enough for chelsea is not worth the trouble IMO. As a general Principle, if a player has not made it at a club for 7 years, then either he is not at the level of the club, or the club is not right for him. Its a 7 year period, so injuries is not an excuse.... if he is so injury prone, then again the club should not keep such a player. In my view he had qualities when he came, and he came a long way in developing those qualities, but at some time in his development, he simply stopped improving facets of his game that were heavily lacking. That was a purely objective view.... From a personal standpoint, the reason i want him gone is very simple, When he starts i dont expect great things from him, but now when he is brought on as a sub, i have stopped viewing him as a fresh pair of legs, as he doesnt do the lung busting and closing down required. He in fact makes me more nervous and changes the dynamic of the game for the worse. Basically when a Chelsea players comes on, and that evokes fears and acceptance of the worst scenarios becoming greater possibilities, that is the moment i give up on a player. That position is too important for a club like ours with the players we have ahead, and therefore we really need a player that has a bigger personality, greater enthusiasm and a real ability to impose himself. Rant over.
-
I generally feel he does well coming on as a sub. Not a revelation, but in many ways he is a game changer coming off the bench. If we get an offer and sell him, great, but if not, he is alright for a second striker for another season at the most. Demba Ba is good as well, but who said we cant have 3 top strikers in the club? United have like 5. City have 3+ as well. In my view, our club does not work like that in terms of having to ship out a high earner to get another one in. I may be wrong but the amount of payouts we give to managers firing and hiring, kind of says that money is not the biggest issue. However, i understand your concern. It makes sense to be prudent, but this is Chelsea and being Prudent is almost absent at all times. In any case, i think Lukaku is better than both Ba and Torres.
-
Id prefer him to stay and be our second striker,,,, while he doesnt do great while starting, he is a revelation when he comes on as a sub.... he does indeed change games as his game works when he has more pace and energy than his opponents. I personally dont care if he is paid big bucks, and is our second striker. He is certainly improving, and does great every time he comes on as a sub, and has a few good games as a starter as well. He will be an asset as a second choice. We need depth with quality and effectiveness. Season after next, Lukaku will be back, so Torres can be sold with 2 years remaining, but for next season, i would definitely want him here.
