  1. One thing I like about Luiz which doesn't seem to be understood by alot of commentators, while its risky and he can do it at COMPLETELY the wrong times, he plays the ball out of defense usually with a bit of technical skill, which in my opinion is alot better than hoofing it up the pitch and having it come back to you, but sometimes you need to clear it. Its been said plenty of times before hes still fairly young and has a fair bit to learn but I don't see any reason he can't become a world class center back
  2. Alot of people have been saying the person most under threat from Gary Cahill's arrival is David Luiz, now as much as I love our Iconic Captain hes a couple of seasons away from being in the same situation as Lampard, hes going to need to be rested and revitalized. So I put to you my friends, Gary Cahill & David Luiz pairing up at center back? Luiz has been playing fantastically since we singed Cahill against Norwich and QPR earlier today and its good to see, so a youthfull pairing of the two seems on the cards to me. Off topic, has anyone noticed we rarely ever seem to play the long ball forward? I know Luiz and JT hit them now and then but the ball spends the majority of the time being passed between midfield and defense
  3. Plenty of possession, great passing and movement, no final ball, lack of chances being created due to a lack of ideas, anyone noticed Sturridge has been pretty quiet since hes come back from that little injury? not to say hes anonymous but i haven't seen him trying to cut in onto his left with any real conviction for a few games now and if hes not scoring, neither is the team. Edit: Also I've noticed David Luiz really seems to have upped his game since we signed Cahill, not to say hes the best defender in the world but the past few games hes been noticeably better, to my eyes at least
  4. I realise I'll probably be chased off the forums for suddgesting it, but its got to be said he's a world class striker and technically brilliant a real poacher as well as being bloody intelligent on and off the ball. No one seems to remember he was joint top scorer in the league last season now hes hardly getting on the man united bench for reasons i don't fully understand and im certain he'd jump at the chance to jump ship, so that wouldn't be an issue. Neither would be price i wouldn't think, with his contract shortly set to expire, so it could even be a free. So I'm just throwing this up there more for discussion than because i think it would actually happen, but you just never know.
  5. Well you cant just have them PUT into L1 or the Championship because their affiliated with Chelsea, they would have to start on the lower rungs, ok maybe not QUITE as far down as the blue square prem, but you couldn't just put a team into one of the established leagues without anyone noticing
  6. Surely it'd be the same as starting a new club, have a small ground built, maybe a few thousand capacity, start the team from the very bottom and I'm talking blue square premier, then let them work their way up. If the idea works and the team is bringing in money, expand the ground into a stadium overtime, let the reserve players fight their way up through the ranks. Having watched our youth team play a few times I can honestly say the quality of football is nothing like the first team, it terms of pace or technical skills and especially the physical side, so let them BE a first team. It'd cancel out the need for loans too because they'd already be playing for the first team albeit at an affiliated club, Ie. Chelsea B team.
  7. You've lost me chap, I've uncrossed my legs!
  8. See I'd have thought he'd want a more... stand out number? Like 9, 10, 11 or even 26 which seems to be pretty popular with wingers at the moment, but I guess he'd have to take what he can get
  9. Question! If Hazard were to join (fingers toes & legs crossed) what number would he wear do you reckon? :goodpost: That was a very classy ball to Cole, glad to see he's doing so well In France on an off note
  10. Hopefully AVB will tell them to use a little more attacking impetus, defense has been a bit questionable, we've kept the ball well on the halfway line but not alot of balls forward, I'd like to see some passes coming from the central area instead of the crosses, Torres can score headers but hes more of a poacher thriving on those through balls I was hoping to see Mata spraying out. Anyone else noticed David Luiz tends to get a yellow card in the first 15 minutes then you don't really see him again?
  11. Yeah I get that, but hes got to think about his career too, I mean getting ahead of Ronaldo, Ozil, Kaka, Di Maria isn't going to be an easy task, whereas I think he knows if he comes here he's going to slot right in and become a key player almost instantly, maybe hes planning on doing a Ronaldo, play in the prem for a few years then get a massive money move to Real Madrid, It'd work for me!
  12. I can't see him opting to go to Real Madrid, he must have seen whats happened to Nasri, thats a pretty solid city first XI starting line up and theres something about him that tells me hes not all about the money, I think us and Man United (who couldn't afford that price tag) are the most likely in the running, and to boost our chances we've got a new manager and we're slowly undergoing a squad overhaul and I'm sure he'd be interested In being part of the Chelsea project.
  13. Yeah like I said up top of the post, I don't really see any natural dribblers in the squad, Mata can get past his man, with a feint or a quick turn of pace but I wouldn't call that orthodox dribbling, Ramires just charges past them, Sturridge has some good wing play and can wrong foot a defender or two but hes not really dribbling past them, Kalou runs at people and their so busy laughing they forget to tackle. Bosingwa and Cole can knock the ball past the opponent and use their pace to get past but again not REALLY dribbling so I think that leaves us without a fully fledged dribbling magician
  14. This is exactly what he needs but sadly even when he gets back regardless of how well hes done I still dont think hes going to get many chances and will probably be farmed out of loan again but thats the best thing for him by the looks of it, so lets hope he can make the most of it! I've got faithhhhhhh
  15. I don't think Barca could afford him for one, they had to scrape together enough pennies for Fabregas and even nearly half of that is paid in bonuses, I just couldn't see him breaking into such a well established side personally
  16. I'd like to know where else people think hes going to go? If he comes here he can slot straight into the first XI and its safe to say he'd be considered a key player, Barcelona? Not a chance he's getting into that first XI, Real Madrid? Competition for the front 3 spot with Ozil, Kaka, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Coentrao and Callejón so thats a long shot at best. I can't see him going to Serie A because... Well Its Serie A, so I'd say the Premier League interests are the ones he must be tempted by so that puts us straight into the running as far as I can't see.
  17. Does this sound like a glorified loan deal to anyone else? Hes going to come here, experience the rough and tumble of a more physical league, build himself up (helping us achieve our goals at the same time) and then when Barcelona come back in, and they will, hes going to go back, hes made that fact public already, so a player I was really excited about and looking and hopeful about for the future of our midfield could just up and leave during any window Barcelona want him back. Still a great player but my opinion of him dropped substantially when I read that, I can't blame him, but it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it
  18. He's a false number 9, a trequartista in a central position given free roam to get up and score goals I wouldn't say he plays as a center forward at all, he plays alot deeper, Barcelona basically play without an out an out striker
  19. If Torres doesn't hit top form in the next 6 months I would probably cut my losses and I think Soldado would be the perfect replacement, his technique, finishing, movement, speed and strength are top notch, he could and has linked up fantastically with Mata, hes great playing as a lone striker through the middle incase we do (hopefully) switch to a 4-2-3-1, hes consistent and as someone mentioned up top of the topic, in the same mold as Higuain who apparently AVB is quite sweet on. Given the opportunity I'd snap him up personally, I know theres no big transfer story behind it, more of a hopeful one but I'd love to see him at Stamford Bridge.
  20. We've switched into quite a few different formations when need be, but changing the whole squads playing philosophy in the middle of the season? I just can't see it happening personally
  21. Same as everyone keeps saying and its a bloody good idea im not arguing that but AVB has played a 4-3-3 his whole managerial career and we've been playing 4-3-3 since Mourhinio and I can't see us changing formation halfway through the season because its probably going to lead to very disjointed performances
