As good a result as you would want ahead of Tuesday's game. AND a clean sheet. AND Mendy making a crucial save to keep it that way. Let's hope this carries over.
-
Eh...we lost at Stamford bridge this time. Not the same kind of match. The atmosphere at the Bridge was electric in 2012. This time I'll remember for it being hostile to Courtois. Acting like snowflake Gooners.
-
Knew this was going to be a lousy game right from the off. Crowd booing Courtois from the start of the game. Arsenal-like mentality of acting bitter. Got treated like Arsenal.
-
True. I'm now worried about the misinformation that is being circulated around on forums. Don't want to scupper a potentially good bid because of outrage from overblown facts. I hope the majority of local Chelsea fans are being pragmatic about the whole thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has there ever been a consortium of this size and wealth involved in a European football club before? Surely the fact that so many are looking to get a piece of the pie would imply that the investments they put into the club could be proportional, especially if they intend to get any sort of meaningful return
-
If that's true then good. Anyone else barring these guys and Johnson seem to be a big positive

Was it a verbal or written agreement? Terms mean nothing until official. I'm sure that Rudiger's agent is shopping around, that is the smart thing to do and so no surprise there. But it would be also very dumb to not even wait to learn who the new owners are and see what they have to offer before he makes a move.

It's just their forward line that we need to be careful about. Benzema and Vinicius can turn it around in minutes, so the defense will have to be in top form and not make any silly mistakes (looking at Chalobah) That, and our false 9s who are likely to play., NEED to be clinical. Other than that, yes. I don't see us having too much trouble controlling the flow of the game itself.
-
Sigh. This is annoying. I take back what I said. Luck run out.
-
Wouldn't say completely ran out...... Did manage to avoid Bayern and the other English clubs..
-
First piece of evidence will be how they handle the mid-week game against Pool. It's a double whammy against a stronger team AND a game with less prep time.
-
Reminds me of the 2nd half of Hazard's 2013 and 2015 seasons...when he started morphing into Chelsea's main man.
-
Probably spitting at a person next to him.
-
Them...Carragher...Rio... Fuck. I hate that whole Pool/United ex player posse that rules football media in England. On the other hand, I'm also glad that none of our big guns became a pundit. Imagine having your ex player and legend talking shit about their former clubs performances.

Think you're reacting to an older quote, mate. If the latest reports are to be believed, it looks like Roman has at least secured permission from the UK government to at least select the bidder. The bigger issue at the moment is with Barclay's bank. Who will have to open up Chelsea's account again so that a sale can go through. Hopefully they will stand to reason, soon. Trivago and seemingly also Nike, still continuing to partner us is welcome news.
-
This. Stability is key. There's bound to be instability off the pitch, good or bad. We absolutely need stability on the pitch at least for the near term.
-
This club had gone through adversity after adversity and has managed to come back stronger. Went to the brink, and still came back. How many clubs have gone through a two window transfer ban and end up winning a champions league soon after? Like Jimmy Greaves said., it's magical. Ktbffh.
-
The ultimate irony and slap in the face of spitty Carragher would be if after all this crisis blows over , we actually end up signing Salah in the summer because he failed to negotiate a deal with Liverpool.
-
A statement from Nike would be the biggest clue in that regard IMO.
-
Jamie Carragher - A specialist in spitting.

Injured

The question is how deprave the government would be to delay any potential sale allowing the club to rot further. Lose more sponsors, get a points deduction., and more. Basically put it on a tough path to recover even after an eventual sale. Which is why I keep asking whether Roman will launch legal action to at least allow the club to function semi-normally (albeit without sponsors) and also allow a sale in the short term.
-
Can Roman launch any legal action against the UK government to put the sanctions on hold while he works through a sale?

Honestly think he's just like Ole and Lamps but just a few steps behind. They might sneak into top 4 this season, because they don't have any other distractions this season, and because their nearest competitors are poor at the moment. Put them back in Europe next season and the comedy will likely unfold again. In short., they're having their Ole moment with Arteta this season. (Just like United finishing 2nd last season)
