  1. For me their their familiarity and root at Porto suggest he was a AVB recommendation. AVB also wanted Romeu at Porto before he left, a player that he wanted well before he moved to Chelsea. Romeu has said that AVB convinced him to join Chelsea. We definitely needed to booster the DM, but if it wasn't for AVB that person wasne't going to be Romeu. It is a collective decision, but the manager has a stronger role in transfers. Not all signings are brought up them, but they still have their input. Example Kevin De Bruyne, Lukaku, and Courtois. Not saying AVB had absolute power and full control. But his influence is greater then you suggest, is much greater then a guy given a squad and try to win with them. By AVB philosophy i do mean the high-line+possession+High Press. I still believe this is the style they club want to achieve, as we further rebuild our squad.
  2. I seriously doubt Meireless would be a Chelsea player if AVB wasn't our manager. It has AVB signing all over it, and consider his connection and history with the player. Another signing Romeu is without a doubt a AVB recommendation. We also know we were interested in Alvaro Pereira, he would be Chelsea player if it wasn't for the steep price.Evidence strongly suggest AVB had major influence on transfers. You still suggest that the club assembles the squad and then finds a manger to make it work. If that was the case then no manager would walk into the job. Sorry i have hard time believing AVB "the hottest young manager in the world" and managing his childhood club would leave his job for this proposition. It makes a lot more sense that AVB would have power over the signings and his philosophy aligns with the club aspirations. I don't think AVB firing changes the course of the club, i would expect the new manager to somewhat share AVB philosophy and playing style. That is not Capello he is the opposite. lol
  3. AVB brought players like Mata and Meirless, there is no force by the board to make a given set of players work and win. AVB job was to build a squad and lead the rebuilding of Chelsea in the vision of the club. In a recent interview in Brazil AVB mentioned that he wanted to sign Hulk and Lucas Moura. Marin was signed and he is very similar to Lucas, while Hulk is very likely to be signed also. It seems like the club still plan on the same vision they had when AVB was signed. I can't make sense of going after Capello because he is the opposite of AVB and his brand of football. Seems like the club really wants to move away from the current style, bringing Capello would do the opposite.
  4. AVB mainly got the job because of his creative and attacking football brand. Europa is not a big competition, but the hype of AVB and Bielsa is mainly due to the fashion of their game. I would be shocked if Capello is the next manager. Some people may think there is no sense in Roman hiring and firing but there is. He hired Carlo because he wanted to get the best out of a group of players with 2-3 years at the top of their game. Hired AVB to bring a new brand of football to Chelsea, but ultimately wasn't convinced he can do so. I would not understand the appointment of Capello, it would be illogical. oh and no way RDM would stay as a assistant manager, the guy would have dozens of offers. why Rogers over Martinez? I can't understand why Rogers is rated higher then Martinez, when Martinez is more experienced and basically seted the blueprint for Rodgers at Swansea.
  5. I don't know if this has been discussed one time or another, what is people thought on Ramires being tried out as a RB? Can he succeed there? i think his work rate, defending and pace could make him a very good attacking fullback.
  6. I don't think it is about money, there could be other reason why he would want to leave. Money and success is not the be all and end all for every footballer. Could see Real Madrid going after him.
  7. That is not true, Europa winners don't get automatic entry to the Champions League. OT: Falcao should only arrive if Torres is leaving and i don't see that happening, it seems like Falcao is on the move anyway because Alti are looking at a few strikers.
  8. He is not ready, not convinced he is Chelsea quality yet. He needs to mature more. He is very much staying, quote: "I want to play the CL with Montpellier."
  9. Should stay with Montpellier for another season, best for everyone.
  10. He was great against ManU and played well in other notable Europa games, but he is not that player on a consistent basis in La Liga in fact not even close. I completely disagree with this thought process. It would be madness to pay 30m based only on potential, his current performance doesn't even come close to warrant that. I see him on a consistent basis, nothing i see from him to say i should splash 30m on the player. He has the potential, but your taking a big risk. I can't imagine any club doing so.
  11. Cant understand why RDM hasn't tried Sturridge behind the ST enough, while playing Malouda on a numerous occasions there.
  12. No he did not play well for Brazil in the double pivot, he was horrible...poor passer and out of position a lot. It is one of the reason why i think it will be a long time before he plays meaningful minutes for Brazil again. He was pretty good under Dunga in their 4-4-2(4-1-2-1-2) formation in the RM role, in fact that is Ramires best role RM/RW.
  13. No its not, and definitely not by a long shot. And UEFA also disagrees.
  14. Some of the shit i am reading on this thread is unreal.
  15. No to Rossi, but i would go for Borja Valero.
  16. He played better against Blackburn, he played more central against them which resulted in better decision making. He is selfish but sometimes overblown, its more to do with bad decision making and being uncomfortable out wide. He is a CF, and deserves the chance to compete with Torres and rotate with him next season. I think he is capable of also playing along side Torres in 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.
  17. Supporters are happy that Mata is playing central, but you know what i think Cole is the happiest. For all the good Mata has done for the team, he was poor tracking back and constantly left Cole exposed. Moving Mata central has helped Cole performance and the rotation with Bertrand has done the same. He can play at a high level for another 1-2 years as long as we can manage his playing time. Plus the mentorship he has provided for Bertrand is invaluable, and Bertrand can still learn a lot from one of the best LB of his generation.
  18. 2 wide players- one of Lavezzi, Hulk, or Hazard. And someone cheapish to provide depth. A young creative mid- We need someone to rotate with Lampard, my preference is Ever Banega or Alex Witsel. RB- VDW will do fine for me, he seems to be a player that raises his level when surrounded with better players.
  19. 25m+ for a 28 year old RB/CB? I know if Ivanovic was playing for antother club, i would be pissed if Chelsea paid that for him. He is worth 20m masx, especially considering he would have no resale value 3-4 years. Lets face it Ivanovic is not the best going forward, attacking fullbacks are much more demanded in the modern game.
  20. I don't think he has a place in the Brazilian team, and if he does make the 23-man squad i would surprised if he makes any meaningful appearance. I don't even know where he would play.
  21. It would definitely help having another like Mata type player, a signing like Shinji Kagawa would be a good shout for that role. I was generally speaking playing a #10 is almost necessary when you have a lone poacher. We can blame and criticize Torres all we want, but tbf to him we tried to make him and play him like Drogba, and not even try to accommodate for his skill set. But as i said i am more optimistic players like Torres can succeed now that we have changed our formation and have Mata in the #10 role.
  22. I am more optimistic a poacher would succeed in our system then i was in the beginning of the season. Mainly because 4-2-3-1 is much more suited for a poacher skills. 4-3-3 is more suited for a more rounded striker, who can drop back and link up plays between midfield and attack. Drogba and Messi are prime examples of that.
  23. People should forget about Mourinho, not only he is staying at Madrid for another season, and no chance Roman would want to go back to his football brand. I would be surprised and maybe shocked if it was Capello, Benitez, or Blanc. They are also very defensive and too negative. If RDM gets passed over it will be for Guardiola, Bielsa or another very attack minded manager.
  24. Aguero and Suarez have similar qualities to Hulk. Their dribbling and close control is the only players in the Pl who compare. He played 08-09 in China? 1. He never played in China, he played in Japan 2. He was playing in Portugal Your stats are also wrong, use this http://www.transferm...80562_2011.html you can't base everything on stats, also he wasn't healthy all season. He played most of those games with an injury.
  25. He has been excellent for the last four season, he just happens to score more in the past two seasons. Hulk screams bust? I would say Falcao is a more likely to be bust, going by our past records with strikers. I would say Hulk is the safest and surest thing in the transfer market. Seeing how well players like Aguero and Suarez done, i would bet big Hulk will be a major success.
