  1. This is the ideal situation but those small teams scare the heck out of me more so than the top 7 teams because this is the business end of the season and they will be fighting for survival and will park that bus harder and better than ever.
  2. Did you even read the table at all? How is it even better when Coutinho had him floored overall and in every major index apart from goals scored and pass completion?
  3. Regarding Oscar abd Coutinho comparison. there are two things to note. The season isn't over yet as there's still plenty of games left to be played (14 to be precise) and a lot can happen between now and then to significantly distort the current numbers. Also Coutinho has proven to be a late bloomer whose best form usually comes in the 2nd half of the season (He's already proving that right just like he did last season) while oscar by contrast is a fast burner.
  4. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#premier_league/2013/2014/oscar/126/64/3129/0/p|premier_league/2013/2014/philippe_coutinho/126/64/2673/0/p#total_score/pass_completion/assists/chances_created/goals_scored/key_passes#total
  5. Let's see last season's comparison.
  6. every manager is biased and capable of making bad judgment calls and jose is no exception. Moreover no one said Oscar is a poor player just that he is too inconsistent and should have to earn his place as a starter just like at every other top club. inconsistent is not the same as poor atleast the last time I checked the definitions in the dictionary.
  7. Forget the price. Every chelsea player especially the starters are expected to perform to a certain standard and should be scrutinized for poor/inconsistent performances like at every other major clubs in Europe. We are a top club who cannot afford to have passengers in the starting 11 and that's the bottomline. Age and transfer fee is irrelevant.
  8. It's weird having players who are crap in their primary duties but excel in other secondary ones. Imagine an Ivanovic with Azpi's defensive ability. That would be scary.
  9. How do you rate his future chances of making it here ? He reminds of young Lampard.
  10. Yer looking back Perhaps it wasn't matured of me to do that.
  11. I will not trade insult with you two. Normally I just ignore posts like this or reply in jest. First off, No one has anything against Oscar or youth being given a chance to flourish. My stance all along has been that Oscar was handed his status as a starter outrightly without earning it and has failed to show why he deserves to be the starting attacking midfielder of a big club like Chelsea, a club with big ambitions and aspirations to challenge for major trophies. We don't need inconsistent players who may or may not fulfill their potential in the future in the starting 11, no other top club in Europe has one of these players dominating major minutes in their team. the likes of Pogba, Alaba,Isco are as talented, consistent and reliable as their more experienced and established counterparts i.e earned their starting berth. The likes of oscar on the otherhand belong on the bench of a top European team and not in the starting line up. A quick review of his time here is best summarized with two words frustration and inconsistency He was largely anonymous throughout his first season here with the exception of his good performances in the UCL and in the second season after a bright start, he went AWOL from November till the end of the season and it's the same all over this season. He's 24 and has been at the club for 3 seasons, It's not hypocritical to suggest he's not good enough to be a starter for a club of our size based on the evidence of the last 3 years. The only scenario where I could be accused of being an hypocrite is if I endorse youth promotion for the sake of it, at the clear expense of the team's result. I have always advocated for talented youth to be used as squad players, not starters but squad players and if they do eventually develop to the point where they are good enough to start and prove it with high level consistent performances then everyone's happy. Moreover he cost us £19m and a Brazilian international, so why should he get the same leniency and free pass as a youth player like RLC for example?
  12. I don't know why it's so difficult for some people to get this point. We have bigger aspirations and a player as limited and as inconsistent as him should not be a starter for us. He can be the mikel to Matic but not the Matic himself.
  13. Now I want you to close your eyes and take a very deep breathe. In 3 seconds and . . out. How do you feel now?
  14. The question is can messi or pogba maintain the balance or fit Jose's unique philosophy
  15. Even I know it's absolutely ridiculous to scrutinise a debut performance let alone a 10 mins cameo. He's barely even gotten off his train from fiorentina
  16. He will just tell you Oscar is more creative and better than Willian and bring up stats to prove it without context.
  17. It took people 3 years to realise what I have always known. My sentiment back then in his first season was he's not good enough, nor talented enough, nor consistent enough to be a starter for us. it's amazing how people milked the heck out of that one single performance against juventus to defend his mediocrity throughout the entire 12/13 season.
  18. To answer your question. No He's not worth that price range However I can also see why He's most people's fantasy/number one CM target because He's already one of the best midfielder and still only 21 and in addition to that offers genuine goal threat and physicality in the middle of the pack. Players like Pogba are a rarity i,e physically dominant players with very good technique. But I can also see your point, for that price, one would expect a genuine orchestra that can control games (something we genuinely lack especially in big games) with a combination of defensive prowess and creativity. that's why I prefer Koke to him. The Spaniard is more well rounded and Atleti will find it hard to turn down 70 odd million for him.
  19. He should replace Oscar in the middle and start Cuadrado at RW. His best games has come when he's operated from the centre. I honestly believe we would be a better team for it.
  20. The state of the modern game makes me sick
  21. If he goes for big money like 35m plus then it will show one of two things that we indeed have the best negotiators in the business or that the club willing to pay exorbitant fee for him have such a mediocre team of scouts and analysts and haven't been watching his performances thoroughly. The talk of selling him for huge sums of money certainly isn't based on talent and performance. there's no justification for believing he will or should command a very high fee in the market.
  22. He's not as irreplaceable as some posters are implying.
  23. It's funny because most people (myself included) actually consider him to be our most technically gifted player after hazard. You must be redefining technical ability if you consider that aspect of his game lacking and not up to Chelsea first team standard.
  24. His main selling point which is his defensive contribution/tactical prowess has been waning and continues to wane. What we are left with is essentially a passenger in most games.
