I’m going to have to see the XI Maresca goes with before I decide whether I think we can win or not. This is definitely not a Garnacho game bevause he won’t have the acres of space to run into and would be aggressively man marked by Timber. Likewise, Neto up top won’t work like it did against Barca either. 
I’d probably go Neto left, Estevão right, with Delap in front of João Pedro. Lots of legs, lots of pressing, Don’t think we can play João Pedro on his own up top against Saliba and whoever they partner him with. He’ll get swarmed and bullied out of the game. Delap with his big frame can at least occupy them and free up space for the others

In my opinion, João Pedro is more of a player we should use mainly against the big teams where he can produce a moment of quality from nothing and where he’ll actually have space. Against compact teams that want to clog that #10 area he seems pretty ineffective. His languid, “lazy” sort of demeanor works against him.
Having a more direct, intense player in the hole behind Delap today and I think we’d look better. 

He’s almost treating this like a Carabao Cup game with this team. Will look terrible on him if we don’t win.

I don’t think there’s any need to or any desire from the club to bring in another attacking signing until at least the January 2026 window. So all this talk about us still going after these big attacking talents this coming January or even next summer is silly.
We’ve just bought Garnacho and Gittens and I don’t think there’s a chance in hell we give up on either of them any time soon. Neto and Estevão on the other wing and they’re going nowhere any time soon. We’ve got Quenda & Emegha coming in next summer for depth already.
Splashing huge cash on Yildiz or Rodrygo who I keep seeing us linked with feels like the last thing we’d do or even need. No space whatsoever for another winger.
Any and all attention over the next 2 windows should be about an elite CB and another elite deeper midfield body to replace the always broken Lavia.

Despite them being behind, I have to say that I’m once again very impressed by how Bournemouth play. What Iraola has done there is incredible. 
If things go south for us the rest of this season and a change in coach is necessary he should absolutely be our top choice.

Overall, not a single player was poor today. Several were amazing in Moi, Cucu, and RJ.
But this was yet another demonstration of how the likes of Garnacho, Pedro Neto, and Gittens are decent buy not good enough to be main men. They all 3 looked good in the build up and got into super dangerous positions over and over again but fluffed their lines when it mattered most. Like always.
And João Pedro can look neat an tidy and pull off the odd brilliant finish but he so clearly is NOT a lone striker. His energy levels died for the final 30 minutes or so. He NEEDS another forward up there with him to press and occupy CB’s.
I legit cannot wait for Delap to be fully fit. He changes so much for us if he gets settled again. Delap up top, JP behind him, and Estevão finally starting in the league and we look like a totally different prospect that is a nightmare to defend against.
