You can be absolutely sure that if we win the league Mourinho will find some way to say "it's a false title because they weren't in Europe," or something like "I put together a great group for Conte." He will be burning inside to see us win it.
-
With the way Liverpool have played recently it wouldn't shock me at all if they got spanked. Just have to hope Anfield plays its part and Klopp/his players want to stop the embarrassment.
-
Another weekend where our closest title rival plays a huge match against another contender. I know people were saying the title is ours after the Arsenal match, but if we beat Burnley and Liverpool beat or even hold Spurs to a draw I think that'll be that. Cannot expect to just show up and claim 3 points effortlessly here. We've seen Arsenal, Liverpool, and Spuds all do that in recent weeks against relegation fodder and lose/drop points. If we don't show them the proper respect we could get punched in the mouth.
-
Definitely think City will finish in the top 4. They're nothing special this season but should have just enough in attack to see them earn a CL place.
-
This kid always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Fuck off.
-
Any possibility we could sign him we should be all over it. Pep doesn't really strike me as the sort of guy who would care about selling him to a rival so long as he gets his way with other targets. He just doesn't really fit the Guardiola style. He'd be amazing in our setup.
-
So many opportunities to score that were just inches from coming off. Dangerous score line, this. Cannot allow momentum to swing their way because you know they'll bring Giroud on to target Moses/Azpi and he always scores off the bench.
-
Our biggest weakness has been teams targeting our lack of height in wider positions. Arsenal don't have any height in their attack, really, so it's all down to our defender being 100% switched on and aware of the pace they have.
-
With Ox in the middle where he isn't as comfortable it would've been nice to play with 3 in the center like I hoped for. For the love of God, please don't just sit back and let Arse have 80% of possession like we did with Spuds and Liverpool.
-
Yeah, pretty clear that Conte and the squad have had this one circled on the calendar for a while. They'll be desperate to make amends for the 3-0 hammering. This being at home, hopefully we don't just play on the back foot and allow Arse to dictate the tempo like we've done with Spuds. Take it to them, impose ourselves on them, and rattle them like we have for years. Ill do a little prayer before bed tonight that Hazard returns to form for this one. We need him here. We've pretty much ended Liverpool's title chance. A win here would end Le Arse's, too. Then it's a 2 (maybe 3 if City continue playing like they did against West Ham) race for the title.
-
Wishful thinking, but I'd LOVE to see the 3-5-2 tomorrow. Arse are paper thin in midfield due to injury so we should compound their problems even more by dominating the center of the pitch with superior numbers. Hazard and Costa up top, Matic, Kante, and most importantly Cesc as the deep lying playmaker spraying the ball up to the forwards and out wide to the wingbacks. I feel like if we play with the standard 3-4-3 with Matic & Kante Arsenal will be able to deal with us much more easily. Add in the unpredictable inclusion of Fabregas and it'll throw them off completely. Wenger will have had them preparing for the 3-4-3 for days and would be caught off guard. Coquelin is the only midfielder with a bit of bite and defensive aptitude they have fit. He can't mark 3 class midfielders himself. 3-5-2 please! If it doesn't work we'd have loads of firepower on the bench like Pedro and Willian to come on against tired legs.
-
Did no one ask him directly about Hazard's reported injury he's been carrying? Conte has been pretty forthcoming about Luiz's injury so he may have been willing to confirm it or not.
-
Think Wenger's plan will definitely be to use a very pacey attack with Walcott, Welbeck, and Sanchez all up top. Lets hope Luiz is fully mobile.
-
He moans about one thing or another literally every time he speaks to the press. Even when he was in a good mood last month during their unbeaten run he couldn't help but to mention teams having it so much easier than he's got it. If he's this miserable now in his first season, imagine what he'll be like if they have to play another season out of the CL.
-
Hope we make him our #1 defensive target. He'll be very difficult to sign because I'd bet that both Manchester clubs will be after him as well. Luiz, Azpi, and VVD as a back 3 would be insane and have the perfect mix of all attributes.
-
It's so frustrating. We have all these brilliant players who just do not have the ability to hold the ball when under pressure. Especially Matic and Kante. They're great at breaking up play but Matic in particular is SO poor in possession.
-
Disappointing not to win it with the pen but very good point at what is probably the toughest away game of the season. HOW MANY TIMES does Cesc have to come on and completely change the game for the better before he earns a PL start?! Matic and Kante together simply cannot offer what he does. Also, Moses was again our Achilles heel defensively. At fault for the goal in the same way he was against Spuds. Alonso is also very poor against the better sides. We NEED to have different options in the wingback positions next season. Moses and Alonso get exposed against these top teams. Hazard is starting to concern me a bit. Started the season so amazingly but has disappeared lately. Has the odd great game but just looks off the pace completely. Worrying.
-
Matic's passing is SO poor!
-
Same exact shit every time we play them and Spurs lately. Cannot get a sniff of the ball. Literally. Then when we get the ball we instantly give it away. Infuriating!
-
I'm not. It's what I'd have done too. He's better in possision and at keeping the ball in tight spaces when pressed than Pedro who often lets the ball get away from him with heavy or loose touches. The worry for me is that on top of their pressing, we'll be outnumbered in midfield.
-
My fear, too. Like with Spuds, we know exactly how Liverpool are going to approach this. The same way they and Spuds approach every game. Press constantly, run endlessly, control possession. If we just allow them to do those things and sit back they can kill us. When teams have deployed those tactics against us so far this season our passing gets super sloppy and we can barely hold onto possession for longer than a pass or two. We need to keep composure or we'll lose this. Don't let the occasion get the best of us with them feeding off the crowd. We need our leaders like Luiz taking control here.
-
Lamest transfer window ever? Not a single big name signing anywhere in Europe. Not even from a team panic buying which we always see.
-
Guess the only selection question these days is whether Pedro or Willian starts. Doubt Cesc would play from the start even though the best way to beat the press is to play balls over the top which he does better than anyone. Just really hope we play this like its a cup final and don't think "eh, we don't really need to win this." We should be treating this like the biggest and most important match of the season because it is.
-
This dude apparently can't even get a game for a mediocre Inter side but is good enough for us!? The hell? We surely have better players already on our books that can be a fill in squad player in the wide positions. Musonda for instance.

Having only seeing him on YouTube about 15 minutes ago, he looks like a fantastic young striker. Excellent technique, good pace, power, and athleticism. Can finish in a number of ways. But these are all things I saw in Batshuayi when he moved here and he can't get a sniff. Plus, the impressive highlights I'm seeing are against pub teams. Would be dumb to sign a striker now.
