Zaha is 27 and likely just entering the prime of his career. Don't know why some are seemingly suggesting that he's got no room for improvement. Taking an already super talented player and surrounding him with much more talented players than he's ever played with is a recipe for a good transfer for me. Even if Zaha doesn't take a step up, if we got the same Zaha we've seen for the past couple of years he's an extremely dangerous weapon. He tears defenders to shreds and it's almost impossible to get the ball off him when he's in form. That's something we could 100% use. Again, Sancho first choice, Zaha next. Maybe even Ziyech now Ajax are out of the CL.

If you look purely at Zaha's goals and assists stats you may not be impressed. Remember that Palace have been utterly terrible for much of his time there and he has had to be the sole player they had to make things happen. We were all frustrated when we were at times so reliant on Hazard. Now imagine how annoyed Zaha must be having to shoulder the load with much worse players around him. Nearly as important as stats for me are things like creating space for others, putting extreme pressure on defenses with pace and skill, and the much talked about drawing of fouls in dangerous areas. I just saw a couple of days ago that Zaha has been fouled something like 500 times in the PL. He's right up there with Hazard every season with fouls drawn. Seeing him and Pulisic both in aggressive attack mode would be frightening to any side in the world.

Sancho should definitely be priority #1 of course but Lamps clearly wants reinforcements in January. Sancho looks increasingly impossible next month. That's the calculated risk the club have to really think about. Do you wait until the summer, hope that what we have now is enough to make top 4, and risk missing out on him anyways? Or do you go in and get someone (Zaha) with less fuss now? I'm just trying to imagine a scenario in which Dortmund would agree to sell in January and the only way I can think of is if someone offers a ludicrous fee like 120m or something. They're within touching distance of the top of the Bundesliga table and are through to the last 16 of the CL. Why sell your best attacking player now?
-
Much as I love Zaha, he isn't what you would describe as a clinical goal scorer as Frank wants to see. I'd take him for sure, but I'd say we'd still need another natural striker.
-
Midfield asleep while defending as usual. As for the draw, I'd like either Bayern or Juve. Both on off days are capable of looking awful so we could certainly cause an upset. And if we lose, no shame. The absolute last teams I want to face are PSG and Barca who would both destroy our defense quite easily.
-
He was standing about 3 yards off of the Lille player inside our box! And then stumbled backwards just before the cross went in. You've got to get touch tight and at least make it difficult for the crosser. Azpi essentially invited him to put the ball in.
-
How easily did Azpi allow that cross to go in for their goal? That was literall schoolboy defending. Could you even imagine the Azpi of 3-4 years ago defending like that? Nah. Anyways, onwards and upwards.
-
Totally. But imagine how sour those players and supporters will be. Yikes! They each got the best Lille team twice while (so far *jinx*) we've got their terrible B team.
-
That might have been our easiest half of football this season. If the 2nd half is more of the same, one of Ajax or Valencia will be extremely pissed off at Lille for playing such a weak team.
-
For goodness sake, please don't let us drop into the EL.
-
What I don't get is how United are able to raise their game so damn much against all the big teams and yet look utterly hopeless against the poor teams. They often don't have a clue when they have to take the initiative and possession. Their team is also filled with mediocre players all over the pitch. And other than Maguire their defense isn't anything special yet they hardly concede goals. Kepa even kept DDG out of the Spain squad all last year it seemed like.
-
Literally just hours ago we were comfortably ahead of United and Spuds. Now this is a nightmare weekend, both have great momentum, and we have tough fixtures ahead.
-
I don't want to criticize Frank much. It's just time now that he starts getting ruthless with certain players. And he's got to drop Mount for a bit. Jorginho is our key man in midfield and we need his calmness and control.
-
People talking about Luiz must not have been paying attention this season. He's been every bit as poor as Zouma. They're equally bad as defenders. But where Luiz differs is he doesn't panic with the ball under pressure like Zouma does. We need a cool head back there.
-
Also prone to a calamitous mistake here and there. But yeah, if Rüdiger is ready those two would be my partnership. And for God's sake, take the plunge and drop Azpi for good. Emerson and James is the way forward.
-
We need a composed, calm, confident modern CB to partner Rüdiger. Someone who has complete control of his damn body. Zouma is wild and has no football brain. Constantly getting himself into trouble. The Aké link is looking more and more appealing.
-
We may legitimately have the worst defense in the entire league. Clown mistake after clown mistake. Can't even do the basics. Zouma especially looks like a 5 year old who suddenly grew into an adult body overnight and doesn't know how to control himself. Christensen has regressed completely. Azpi has lost two steps defensively and offers zero going forward. And Kepa, who was great last season, has been so poor. We look like Wenger's Arsenal towards the end of his reign.
-
How on Earth have we come out without a goal? We lose our clinical finishing at the most frustrating times. You get the feeling that if we score Everton will crumble. We aren't allowing them a sniff of the ball, really.
-
THREE times now Willian has got the ball in their box and is terrified of shooting with his left foot! WTF
-
We've absolutely dominated the last 30 minutes now. Just the final touch missing.
-
Any time an attack ends up at Azpi's feet is dead. He is totally useless up there. Like a black hole where attacks go to die.
-
Zouma is just a calamity waiting to happen. Fuck sake,
-
Who could've foreseen Everton coming out like this? Apparently not our fucking players... Getting bullied by fucking Everton.
-
Both Zouma and AC just casually jogging and not marking anyone. Another goal conceded where a player is standing in our 6 yard box completely free.
-
Everton are missing several of their best players through injury. Bernard, Gomes, Mina, Coleman. We should be bossing this. Plus they're in woeful form. But as we saw with West Ham anything can happen. All 3 points here would be huge once again because the likes of United and Arse have matches I think they'll lose.
