If all that happens we’d probably panic and sign Neymar 🤣🤣🤣
-
Feels like this same thing has been said a dozen times already. Tuchel promised this, Tuchel promised that, Chelsea will go big to back him, Boehly wants to close the gap to the top 2. Yet nothing has actually happened yet. Feels like Matt Law tweeted this exact thing like a month ago.
-
And if we needed only 1 new CB I think we’d probably pay that. But since we need 2 who will both be extremely pricey I doubt we will.
-
I don’t think United will be able to resist the temptation of reuniting De Ligt with De Jong under Ten Hag. It would be the classic Man United signing where they overpay like mad on a big name. Just can’t see us paying £70-90m on any CB.
-
Ziyech is at his best when he’s already in position to deliver the ball. He’s more of a stationary player. He struggles quite a bit in a Chelsea shirt at getting the ball deeper in midfield and carrying it forward and he is so lightweight that he has been getting bullied and struggles to dribble past defenders. Raphinha on the other hand is a great ball carrier and will help your team press from the front.
-
True. But from what I’ve read they’ll want like 100m for him? Not sure why it’s even a discussion that anyone will buy him for that.
-
De Ligt feels like such a boom or bust signing. He’s young enough and talented enough that he could become world class but for the massive transfer fee Juve would demand he could also be the next super expensive Chelsea flop. I suppose that bringing him into a back 3 would make things easier for him. If the likes of soft ass Christensen and raw Chalobah can excel in our formation De Ligt should be able to as well.
-
The idea that it’s Sterling OR some other attacking player is worrying and I hope false. We need more than a single new attacking player. I just cannot imagine Tuchel being satisfied going into another season living on a hope and prayer that Werner/Pulisic/Ziyech/CHO magically become prolific. It’s just not going to happen. Whether it’s 2 new attacking mids or a striker + attacking mid, we need a pretty substantial refresh up top. All the reporting and quotes from Boehly himself have mentioned being smarter and more savvy in recruitment than we were before. Well, signing one of Europe’s most talented wide players on a free and signing one of the title winners key players over recent seasons is savvy and smart.
-
Very, very similar skill set but in a bigger, more athletic frame. Ziyech is so skinny and weak that he always gets pushed around.
-
Other than his work rate, Richarlison doesn’t really do anything that well. Other than throw himself to the ground and act like a bastard. He’s not a prolific goal scorer, he’s not that quick, he’s merely okay with the ball at his feet, he’s not a towering presence in the air. If we signed him would he do a decent job? Probably. But I don’t think he’s good enough to elevate us to title contenders. Raphinha is much more exciting. He’s got an amazing left foot and is extremely exciting in the ball. He’s already one of the best wide players in the PL and should only get better in a stronger team.
-
Raphinha is basically a more athletic and direct Ziyech. A left footer who plays on the right. He is great at just getting the ball and taking on defenders. And he’s got the same sort of wand like delivery as Hakim. A player who can also shoot a bunch from long distance which many of our attacking players recently have been allergic to. Another positive is that he knows the league and won’t need time to settle to the pace of the game. Especially coming from a Leeds side who play balls to the wall, ridiculously fast paced football. I think Sterling and Dembele should be the first two choices but Raphinha would be an excellent fallback if Dembele chooses to stay at Barca.
-
Arse moving rapidly on big targets. Targets that we’ve been linked with ourselves. And they’ve already signed a pretty expensive midfielder today. A club everyone has clowned for years for being useless and sluggish in the market. Now even they are moving rapidly whilst we’re Things Will Happen Soon FC. They’re not even in the CL, FFS! 🤦♂️
-
Sterling + Dembele or Sterling + Gnabry. Either combo would adequately replace Lukaku and make us a much more unpredictable, fluid, and technically gifted team.
-
Only way back here for Lukaku is if we have a catastrophic season that results in Tuchel getting sacked and some new manager fancies him next season. Otherwise we’ll probably just end up cutting our losses next summer and selling him back to Inter for cheap. Like €35m or something.
-
Let’s see what kind of shit Lukaku talks in his instagram or Twitter post about returning to Inter. 🤣
-
Hopefully with him gone we can start getting some in. This is getting unbearable.
-
If we’re intent in getting an actual striker I agree. If Jesus goes to Arse I think David would be the best option. He’s a million times the technical footballer that Lukaku is but still offers the power and speed.
-
Of all these options I think only Jonathan David interests me. Don’t rate Richarlison, Osimhen would cost an absurd amount and has only been at Napoli for a year, and Scamacca is a massive risk. I’m reading he’s been in loan like 5 times in just a few years? That’s not a positive sign. Johnathan David is a properly good footballer, can dribble past players, has good pace, and can also hold the ball well. Only 22 years old. We could do much worse than him.
-
He looks like a solid player and a much better footballer than Azpi. The price would be cheap and he’d be a pretty nice squad player but it would be strange to replace Azpi with someone who’s nearly as old. But I suppose it wouldn’t be easy to find a really top class young fullback who will agree to sit on the bench behind Reece.
-
With Lukaku certain to go, selling Broja as well would have me worried that we will indeed make a move for Richarlison. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 Because I don’t see any other forwards out there that we could target.
-
Our CB options are rapidly evaporating. It’s going to come to the point where we have to panic and sign someone bang average like Pau Torres for way too much money.
-
Yeah, unless Tuchel simply doesn’t see him becoming a top striker it makes absolutely no sense to sell one of our most promising youngsters. The only way the club should reluctantly sell him to West Ham is in a deal for Rice.
-
If Inter’s owner wants to be petty as fuck and exact revenge on us and Rom for him moving in the first place he can totally screw us over this summer. At any point he can pull the plug and then we’re stuck with a sulking, wantaway player. Or he could simply drag this out for weeks more and prevent us from doing other business.
-
Guess we know why we’ve done fuck all so far. Seems like everything is in flux behind the scenes and Matt Law mentions that Boehly himself is negotiating transfers. A guy who doesn’t know the ins and outs of European football. Hopefully he installs a top class DoF soon.
-
The Chelsea of a few years ago would’ve basically bullied Inter into accepting some sort of swap deal. These days we’re so desperate to to offload Lukaku that Inter are basically treating us like their little bitch. They’ve already humiliated us by getting £100m just a year ago for Rom and now again by getting him back for a fraction of that on loan. Now they essentially wag their finger at us and refuse to play ball on any players even though they really need to sell someone. Whatever, I just hope this anchor is taken off our backs within the next day or two. Before Inter play the ultimate troll card and back out of the deal. Then we’re REALLY fucked.
