I know it was pre season but the way things are panning out it reminds me of the second season of the Mourinho return where bad media screwed our season with the Eva issue. But only this time it is Costa. Hopefully Conte has a proper plan going in with such a depleted squad. I am really nervous not that we lost pre season but that we lack depth to compete in all the competitions

2 things I worry about if he goes to United: 1. We are selling to United, now why would you do that?/ 2. Not having a replacement in place. Our squad looks depleted as is with more players leaving than joining and more competitions to play why would the club put us in this position. Unless this is like a way to kind of lure someone in by giving them hope that they would be vital for the club. But the way the transfer is happening it looks like some of the good players only want money and aren't quite keen on playing/achieving their potential.

that is bound to be there. Morata seemed like a much better player technically according to what I read in these forums when United were in for him. It is funny how many people forget that grass is always greener on the other side. I am sure had Morata gone the other way and we gotten Lukaku people would be complaining about how Lukaku isn't all that technical whiners gone whine no matter what the situation is ... I can whine about how we should have gone for Belotti

Over priced yes, but I think if we doesn't gloat about how talented he is and just focus on his game then I think he would be good

at one point or another every one is some ones waste. Lukaku was our waste but he turned into quite the sought after player. I just hope Conte can bring the best in him that the price tag would start to look silly in few years.

none of the players this season are marked at their value price. Classic example of demand > supply. Every club is making the best use of the situation. But yes really hope that he comes good and proves his price tag.

In all fairness Lukaku is the reject because they went after Morata but couldn't get him and now settled for the player their manager rejected.

If we were never really interested in him, then the media is doing a horrible job linking us to every player in the transfer window. Or maybe there is a reporter in here who is just looking at the transfer talk sub forum writing down the names and then randomly saying that we were interested. For 2. again if we didn't do a good job of matching his expectation then he would naturally gravitate towards money, nothing wrong in cashing out when you are a sellable commodity 2 things that motivate people IMO: Good work and money, sometimes the first leads to the second some time you get lucky and just get the second and sometimes you just do good work but never actually get rewarded for it.
