We have made lots of terrible purchases. Mutu, Crespo, Kezman, Torres, Schevchenko just off the top of my head. There is a lot of money in the Premier League but it's all chasing a lot of mediocre players. The real top quality ones go to Madrid/Barcelona/Bayern. Look at the strikers of those teams. They only buy the cream of the cream in terms of talent while we waste our funds on dross. Batshuayi is another pointless signing. Other leagues are probably having a laugh at the Premier League teams and the funds their throwing at donkeys. Stones 50m pounds. Martial 60m pounds. And there was a story that Lukaku and Barkley are going to go for 100m pounds combined. The fact that someone can suggest this possibility without being ridiculed shows how crazy things have gotten. Summer transfer window is crucial but I hope they don't fuck it up on poor players.

At Juventus Conte had Marchisio, Pirlo and Vidal and Pogba. All four are technically gifted players. Put Kante in that group and he's easily the worst technically. Add Bakayoko and the disparity is even worse. It's not a possession based system but it's not a system of athletic runners either. Bakayoko and Kante is just too much imo but that's just my opinion. I'm interested to see what he actually does.

Yeah looking closely they are different but the list contains some midfielders who are of the type I want. I want someone who can control the game. Not box to box or dm. Someone like Alonso, Verratti and Kroos.

I would love for us to sign midfielder similar to the ones you mentioned at the end. That's the kind of player we need imo.

For all the supposed talent in that Dortmund team they're still 16 points off of Bayern in the table. Their talent must be really overrated.
