Conte left Juventus because of lack of transfers. It's a hard situation. I get frustrated and call the board all sorts of names but it's not really their fault to not pay stupid money for these players who are not world class. However what they could have done is identified other targets and pursued them instead. This is worryingly similar to the Stones saga unfortunately.

They won't sell him to us. He's going to be 28 this October anyways. If he doesn't sign a contract extension this year he'll have only 1 year remaining on his contract when the season ends. We can probably get him for much cheaper in January or June next year if we do want to go for it although I wouldn't because of his age.

I don't think we are winning the league this season irrespective of whether we sign Mahrez or a CB. However signing Mahrez means he doesn't go to a rival next season and we can get a CB next year when we're in the Champions League and then compete on all fronts.

Although I don't really have high hopes it would be funny if the deal has been long agreed and Napoli are just looking for replacements. All the news we've been hearing has been from second rate papers/journalists.

All our hopes basically rest on Hazard having a season for the ages. Because our squad is clearly inferior to United and City's. We have a risk of slipping down into Tottenham/Arsenal level which is poor considering the resources we've spent.

It's sad. I think lack of transfers is one of the reasons Conte left Juventus as I think he felt they weren't doing enough to compete for the Champions League. We used to have a reputation for doing our business quickly but these past few windows have been abysmal. Kante really fell into our laps and is no achievement from the board. The club is always really slow to get rid of the deadwood (i.e. Matic).
