If he plays well this season maybe we can get a better price for him though I doubt that's the club's motivation for keeping him.

What a nightmare this is especially considering how our rivals went and did their business well and early, despite having already finished quite some distance ahead of us last season.

He won't even be cheap.

His major positive is that he has a great work ethic. After that I don't see what he does. On the field he's often a black hole where the ball just goes and comes out on an opposing player's feet. Positives of Willian : Great engine Negatives : Can't beat his man. He has speed and technique but it's useless unless he has a head start which is maybe once a game. Can't cross Can't pass (loses the ball way too often) Can't score Can't assist enough Once we shore up the defense he won't really be that much of a defensive asset and his offensive flaws will get exposed even more.

I don't really feel that strongly about the club any more as i did when Robben first made his debut. That was a different time and for some reason just more pleasant memories with Robben and Duff attacking down the wings. I was happy when Conte was first appointed but then we haven't cleared out the deadwood in the team, haven't signed any defenders, and keep getting linked with Lukaku which has me negative and antsy these past few days though I'll dial it back now. No use ruining the experience of other members on here.

It's just the excitement of preseason. Last season we were really shit for long periods and I didn't even post that much here. I've been on this board a long while and really don't have that many posts. I've been watching the team for a long time (since 2003 when Abramovich first came) and if it gets really unbearable this season (i.e. we buy Lukaku) I'll just turn the television off and excuse myself from this forum as well. I feel there are things about the team and the modern game that are very upsetting and I feel that there are people on every team's forum who support teams at all costs just so they can brag that they are 'true' supporters. I feel that what makes this forum really unique is we can all voice our criticisms unlike places like Redcafe, RAWK or BlueMoon where every criticizing get censured for being a windup, or being a rag in disguise etc.

Every time I hear of a Lukaku link to us I die a little inside. Is Conte pushing for this ? If so I wish he hadn't come.

If Juventus can give us a decent offer just sell him. Otherwise both him and Juventus can fuck off. By 'decent' I mean anything north of 20m pounds which I know is low for some but I don't really rate him anymore. Given how woeful he's been the team would improve with him on the bench.

It's no wonder we finished 10th when he was our best player. Says a lot about both him and us. The days of Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Romario etc are long gone. Nowadays Brazil can't even beat Iraq.

Those signing are exceptions. We already have too many players who play two games and are never heard of again. Our rivals, who were already ahead of us last season have gone and spent record money on established talent. We can't be betting on hopes any more.

How can you really know that for sure ? If he was a bigger talent more clubs would be into him and the price would be higher. I bet 90% of the people on this forum hadn't even heard of him 1 month ago.

None of our talented Brazilians have really worked out for us. Ramires, Oscar, Willian, Pato, Kenedy, etc. The level of talent is really low in Brazilian football right now and we should just stay away. He'll probably end up just like Kenedy with us if he signs.
