  1. Adult small work for you? We have Torres shirts from Atletico she got when she went to Spain on a school trip. My daughter said the affection and love they still have for Torres is so genuine. We have Torres shirts from the Spanish NT in red and blue. After they won the WC she wanted the new one with the star. I had to finally say no to that. We HAD Torres shirts from Liverpool. I was going to keep them even after the stupid scousers started burning his shirt. Once the media/Liverpool attack on Torres started I had to get rid of them. My daughter's friend was going on a mission with her Church to an orphanage in Mexico so we donated the shirts to them. Her friend said the shirts were a huge hit. That said, I still can't believe the brat had the nerve to get on the bus even for a few matches.
  2. My resident 16 year old football expert has been a little bit a of brat lately and jumped on the Torres stinks bus (even after I bought her 3 Torres shirts, ungrateful brat). I told her we weren't watching any more games together. So Saturday came along, we came home after her Saturday game at the 87th minute. Saw the score was 2-0. I knew Frank had scored the 1st goal but didn't know about goal #2. We rewound the DVR and watched the goal. HAPPY DANCE! I told my daughter she could stay and watch and she said "That's the Torres I know. He played like a BAMF on the field like he is." I said that was an instinctive strike. She was more impressed that he immediately made the run off Anelka after Anelka got his head on Cech's punt, kept his composure, and knew where he was on the field. She said that's harder than it looks to stay on your feet, know where you are in relation to the goal and defenders in that short timespan, and shoot on target. She was also impressed with Anelka giving Torres the great through ball. She said it's like they knew exactly what the other player was going to do and it's so simple, yet so hard. Then she had the nerve to ask if she could have the new home kit. Brat. (I'm thinking about it. I'm a sucker)
  3. That's a great clip. The crowd roars when Anelka slips the ball through to Torres, the sound decreases, then the incredible roard when he scores. Classic! Kudos to those at SB for the atmosphere.
  4. I think this kind of sums it up pretty evenly. Torres Scores "But the hysteria and vehemence that people spewed forth in the following months was so over the top that I couldn't help but root for him. So to finally see him end football's longest statistical anomaly todayโ€”well, let's just say I was relieved." We all were! "The drought was over, and now this likable but outlandishly persecuted figure could get back to doing what he does best: scoring goals."
  5. If he plays for your team, he's quirky and has some idiosyncracies. If he plays against you, he's a headcase.
  6. I love Torres but I'd rather he not play with Drogba at this point in the season. Let them both lead the line in their own way and give Tottenham something to think about.
  7. After watching (and re-watching) Torres first Chelsea goal this weekend I had a few rambling thoughts: 14 Chelsea games, 732 minutes, average 52 minutes a game 14 Chelsea games, 1260 minutes if he'd played 14 full games The start may not have been what he or anybody else expected but it is what it is. Torres has played with the team, they've gotten used to him and vice versa. He hasn't run himself into the ground playing injured (with Chelsea). Hopefully with a summer off and half a season under his belt, he'll come back better than ever. Maybe in the long run this awkward and painful transition will be the best for him and the team. I think most players can empathize with a player going through a bad "moment" and appreciate the hard work and frustration. The camaraderie from the team when he scored was something I haven't seen very often in sports. They all truly seemed happy for him and that says something about the players and Torres. I loved Carlo's reaction on the sideline too. Torres has handled himself like a true professional by all accounts in the dressing room and Carlo. This is the worst stretch of his professional career and like they say "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". The goal, that swivel turn and finish was instinctive finishing. That was the Torres I remember watching. He played with a swagger and purpose and it was fun to watch. Maybe the comforts of moving into a home and being with his young family were the missing puzzle. When he scored his first Liverpool goal this season he looked tired and relieved. When he scored his first Chelsea goal he looked ecstatic. Frank on Torres
  8. Did anyone catch Aldridge on Sky Sports going on and on about Torres? His latest classy comment "I refuse to wish him well". It's been almost 3 months since Torres left Liverpool, probably three of the longest months of his career. He's handled himself with professionalism and grace in a very public situation. Its evident his teammates like him no matter what anybody else says. Yet the damn Scousers can't seem to let it go. It's pathetic and sad. I guess their true colors are revealed - best fans in the world? Sure, if you want myopic fans who can't think for themselves.
  9. I've ended my self-imposed media boycott now that Torres has scored. Maybe Jamie is right and this is why Torres scored. No matter how nice the place, it's always nice to be home. Torres moved into his house
  10. I'm not a fan of the longer hair myself but......... the long blonde hair (is that next?), alice band, baggy shirt, I'm all for if it gets him scoring.
  11. 1. He didn't even need to remove the initial post 2. Why should he apologize? For being a decent young man? For congratulating a friend? There are too many stupid, narrow minded people out there who think being supportive of your team gives you the right to be a first class a-hole and hide behind the anonymity of the Internet.
  12. What the hell was he doing during that interview? Can't watch that without laughing or smiling. Good day all around. Loved Luiz at the very end.
  13. I think a few of us might have been saying the same thing.
  14. How sad is it that its a Saturday night and I'm watching tv and trolling a football forum? I feel old. Don't care - Chelsea won, Torres scored, and everybody was happy.
  15. The users on the forum have been welcoming to new forum members like myself. Makes it easy to wander around the site and drop in an insightful (LOL) comment or two. I visit a lot of forums for work, youth soccer (you want to talk about some crazies posting there!), and other interests. Some forums treat newbies like they should be ignored or insulted. Appreciate the dialogue here and the ease of use.
  16. How do you really feel? There are a lot of bitter people in the world who somehow manage to have access to computers, smartphones (oxymoron for some).
  17. By all accounts, Torres is a player that Dani has looked up to being a LFC player when Dani came over and being a Spanish icon. Torres and his wife took him under their wing and Torres was like a big brother to him. I guess its too difficult for some to understand friendship. Sometimes fans are too dumb for their own good. Even Shrek tweeted congrats to Torres (Wazzaroon08 - Happy for Torres. Great striker) .
  18. Torres and Drogba Interview after the match A good moment
  19. Torres Medical Before Transfer "Benched once again was Torres, who Chelsea now admit did not undergo a full medical before his ill-starred transfer from Liverpool." Is the National trying to say Torres had an injury or something?
  20. You hate the ones you love the most and it appears to be true for scousers. The finish today of Torres was great. Left footed, head down, he knew where he was on the field and FINALLY! Good day for football.
  21. Liverpool fans abusing Dani Pacheco (@dani37pacheco) on twitter for congratulating Torres for scoring. Dani has since removed the post. Posts left up said how much Torres helped him as a person and what a Spanish hero he was to him and he was happy for him and his family. Liverpool fans are morons.
  22. I'm so relieved for Torres to get the monkey off his back. I can only imagine the pressure off Carlo, the team, and Fernando especially. That cross by Cole for Lampard's goal - world class stuff there.
  23. I had to double check and make sure I'd paid the internet bill.
