  1. I think it was his second season at Liverpool. Early on in the season he was getting the sh*t kicked out of him on a regular basis by defenders with no protection from the refs. Even sported a black eye from one of his outings. Rafa told him in Rafa's kind and gentle way to quit complaining, focus on his game and the team, and just play. Torres went on a little scoring rampage. Don't let the hair band and blond hair fool you. He's no shrinking violet and actually seems to play a little better when he's ticked off. Somebody said Terry and Alex relish the physical challenge. I think Torres does too in his own way.
  2. That's the incident. Need the two-three seconds after too.
  3. Match funny at the 80' - Terry and Shawcross doing their imitation of rugby/WWE. The useless Halsey calls them both over to knock their crap off. Terry and Shawcross immediately get right back into it. Terry chest bumps Shawcross, Shawcross backs into Torres, Torres slaps Shawcross in the back of the head, Shawcross returns the favor.
  4. I'm thinking he comes to Chelsea, signs his contract, takes pictures with the shirt, and then gets to take a week or two or three off. He played every minute of every game in the U20 WC except the one game where he was suspended.
  5. I was responding to Killamanjaro's post.
  6. I don't disagree with your points but I think hell will freeze over before we see Lampard and Terry benched this season. And that is a concern because those who make the decisions seem unwilling to make changes that are tough yet needed. TBF I see Lampard seeing the way to the sideline before Terry.
  7. Don't think Torres is as physically faint hearted as some think. He looked more than up for the physical challenge today and repaid AVB's faith in getting the starting nod. I was surprised though he started because of the concussion he got while playing with Spain. Unfortunate for Torres he was playing with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum for most of the match.
  8. Doesn't seem to be worse for wear after his Spanish adventure although Stoke were very physical with him. Credit to him he battled the entire match. Looked a little WWE at times.
  9. If these were already posted my apologies http://bcove.me/dfmsb277 - Torres/Terry post match http://bcove.me/v0gjokgq - AVB post match
  10. Enjoyed the read especially the part about laughing at Liverpool. How do you stay so calm when you write these up???
  11. I know Torres and Drogba don't work but I'd rather see that than Torres and Malouda/Kalou. At least between Torres and Drogba you have two brains. With Torres, Malouda and Kalou you might have one and a quarter brains. What is AVB seeing from those two in training because it doesn't translate to match day.
  12. Santa Monica/LA - close enough. You know wherever you go in LA you're going to have to drive anyway.
  13. We used to live in Arizona where its 100 degrees plus farenheit in the summer. We were walking with our daughter when she was three. She tripped and fell on the asphalt. The bump from the asphalt eventually went away. There's still a mark there like a lasting burn.
  14. Thanks - she is doing absolutely great. I think having been through something traumatic at a young age (as a parent) with a young child, you really learn to roll with the punches and not sweat everything. Other than the scar sternum to belly button she has no memories which is good. I've never broken a bone once much less three times. I cringed for you.
  15. I've been very healthy, knock on wood. Daughter on the other hand has had more than her share: childhood cancer (kidney removed) - remission 14 years stress fracture foot - 3 fractures bulging discs - 3 discs - two epidural injections acl reconstruction - left and right knee What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
  16. Brit & Dominion Club in Garden Grove - haven't been there for a few years. The Olde Ship in Santa Ana - still in business, wish they had bigger screen tvs Matador Cantina - Fullerton The Harp Inn - Costa Mesa There are a bunch in Santa Monica but that's outside my geo area. Here's a link, don't know how current it is. http://www.worldsoccerbars.com/los-angeles-soccer-bars/
  17. I told you he probably called Lipton a puta and got Lipton's panties in a bunch. I doubt Torres did that but 1) it would be funny to see Lipton's face and 2) at least it would explain the personal hard-on that rag has for him. Otherwise it just seems like a scouse induced vendetta.
  18. Welcome from one SoCal fan to another. I remember watching Beckham with Real Madrid against Galaxy at HDC in a friendly. Zidane was still playing.
  19. DVR is my friend. I might make it to the second half live but 5:30 am on a Sunday? That's early.
  20. Fox Soccer Plus 8:30 am ET Foxsoccer.tv 8L25 am ET 5:30 am on the west coast. yawn
  21. Interesting comments from Klinsi. A lot of positives yet realization there is work to be done. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Mens-National-Team/2011/08/PostGame-Quotes-from-US-MNTs-Draw-with-Mexico.aspx Side note: we live in Orange County where Klinsi resides although his zip code might be a little pricier than ours. There's a semi-pro league in California (the PDL) where a lot of college kids play during the summer to keep fitness, etc. We've gone to a few games here and there. One game we went to a few years ago there were a lot of college kids playing. My daughter was just starting in AYSO and liked to watch the older boys play (even then). My daughter was confused by the "old guy" who was playing with all the young guys. Klinsi was out there playing under a pseudonym. He still had a passion for the game.
  22. My daughter and I will be at the next game at the HDC on September 2, 2011. Actually looking forward to it. Imagine Freddy will be in this one. Wonder if Dempsey will or meet the squad in Belgium?
  23. He's the Mirror's supposed top football journalist. I think he's a naysaying a## but he has a public forum he uses to bash not only Torres but other Chelsea players.
