I told you he probably called Lipton a puta and got Lipton's panties in a bunch. I doubt Torres did that but 1) it would be funny to see Lipton's face and 2) at least it would explain the personal hard-on that rag has for him. Otherwise it just seems like a scouse induced vendetta.

Welcome from one SoCal fan to another. I remember watching Beckham with Real Madrid against Galaxy at HDC in a friendly. Zidane was still playing.
-
DVR is my friend. I might make it to the second half live but 5:30 am on a Sunday? That's early.

Fox Soccer Plus 8:30 am ET Foxsoccer.tv 8L25 am ET 5:30 am on the west coast. yawn

Interesting comments from Klinsi. A lot of positives yet realization there is work to be done. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Mens-National-Team/2011/08/PostGame-Quotes-from-US-MNTs-Draw-with-Mexico.aspx Side note: we live in Orange County where Klinsi resides although his zip code might be a little pricier than ours. There's a semi-pro league in California (the PDL) where a lot of college kids play during the summer to keep fitness, etc. We've gone to a few games here and there. One game we went to a few years ago there were a lot of college kids playing. My daughter was just starting in AYSO and liked to watch the older boys play (even then). My daughter was confused by the "old guy" who was playing with all the young guys. Klinsi was out there playing under a pseudonym. He still had a passion for the game.

My daughter and I will be at the next game at the HDC on September 2, 2011. Actually looking forward to it. Imagine Freddy will be in this one. Wonder if Dempsey will or meet the squad in Belgium?

He's the Mirror's supposed top football journalist. I think he's a naysaying a## but he has a public forum he uses to bash not only Torres but other Chelsea players.
-
My "favorite" journo has written about Torres' status and of others.... http://www.mirrorfoo...icle784165.html

If Spain continues to advance they'll play August 14th, August 17th, and August 20th (finals). Oriol has played every game except the last game of pool play where he was suspended. I'd imagine he'd go home to Spain to celebrate the U20 WC if they win and be given some (not a lot) time off.

Injury Latest - Terry, Sturridge & Romeu out injured.

Which is the smart thing to do. If he was at Liverpool he'd be playing no matter what like he always did. One reason why Chelsea is a bigger club. -
Thoughts on the USMNT game: ESPN is a joke. Game was moved to ESPN News because the Little League qualifying game was still on. Once the LL game was over, the game was moved to ESPN2. I had ESPN News but if you didn't you had to find it on Univision on ESPN3.com. ESPN said they're committed to live coverage and staying with a live event. Lalas was a little less annoying than usual. Twellerman was ehhh. There's nobody else available? Love listening to Ian Darke call games. He is head and shoulders above anything else ESPN or FSC have. Ramos was in the booth and pre-post match. He was the proverbial breath of fresh air. Didn't sugar coat it and said it like it was. In the first half he said the US was awful. My favorite comment of his came in the second half when the US was playing really well. To paraphrase "The US can play good soccer. Shea, Agudelo, Rogers, Donovan, even Bradley can play good soccer". First half the USMNT looked like the USMNT under Bradley. Slow, no creativity, Donovan playing a role that didn't suit him, Torres out of position out wide, Bradley Jr was Bradley Jr. Second half Mexico started making subs and so did Klinsi. Donovan was given a more free role. Torres was moved into the middle of the field. Bradley was taken off. Agudelo, Shea, and Rogers were lively subs. For 20-30 minutes the USMNT looked promising and fun to watch. Klinsi still has a lot of work to do. Hopefully Klinsi will be given time and freedom to do something promising with US Soccer. One other thing, it was nice to see Klinsi excited about the match. Too often Bradley looked like he was getting a root canal out there. He definitely wasn't an inspiring figure.

Twitter - @OliverKayTimes Chelsea confirm Torres "will be monitored over the next couple of days" after suffering concussion on int'l duty. They play Stoke on Sunday
-
Watching on ESPN3. Announcer speaking very highly of Oriol calling him one of the stars of the tournament, young rising talent, good business for Chelsea.
-
Right after Torres came off, Ben Smith from the Times posted on twitter: @bensmith_Times Fernando Torres substituted after 15 mins of Spain v Italy. Looks increasingly like #LFC sold to #CFC at the right time. Then he got hammered by CFC fans and responded: "To clarify earlier tweet, Torres suffered "light concussion" in Spain friendly. Happy to put that right for #CFC fans who abused me. Nice" One thing to be critical of Torres but the media pandering to LFC and Kenny Dalglish make me think unbiased journalism is a myth.

He's traveling back with the rest of the squad to Madrid. Hopefully we'll get more news from Chelsea later.
-
The Mexico game - did they play Cameroon? They (Cameroon) did not look prepared at all for PKs. Awful.
-
Freakin' friendlies. What is the exact point?
-
Spain v Korea kicking off soon. Oriol is back in the starting lineup after sitting out the last game because of cards.
-
TVE mentioned class of heads. Maybe he headed a ball and got it wrong? Not thrilled with the concussion news but glad he's ok and that he doesn't have an ankle/knee/groin/hamstring/quad or any other injury.
-
He returned to the stadium and looked ok.
-
Italy 2 - Spain 1. Aquilani.
-
According to TVE, Torres has had his scan and will be leaving the clinic soon.
-
No ankle or muscle injury. Concussion is the problem. Would be surprised if he's even on the bench against Stoke come Sunday.
-
dodojojo, you asked how it happened? I didn't see it myself but TVE said there was a clash of heads, felt dizzy, went deaf.

Spanish TV reporting he has a concussion and is getting a CAT scan to make sure he's ok. Said he was initially a little confused but now doing well.
