Wouldn't the 15+ assists he had last season totally go against this point? remember the game against Benfica away?Torres brilliantly set up Kalou. Or the cross to Mata against Man utd.
He set up Ivanovic twice from corners against Villa. There are many others, but whatever lol.

lmao every time Torres does something bad it explodes too into "Torres is shit!"
So what's better, praising our Chelsea player when he has good games and performances or abusing him because he didn't score?

I can't say who is the greatest striker in our history, but the argument that Drogba isn't because he came here for money is stupid. He is payed for what he does and since he does it really well, he is payed well. He, as an African player who played in France just can't be a fan of an English club who wasn't really big back at the time which would make him sign for it. He has shown what kind of person he is here, with his love for the club and the fans and all the charity work he has done for his country. FFS he is even more popular there then their president...
He came here to score goals and win trophies. He has done all those 2 brilliantly.

People will hate and people will love, it pisses me of when you see 'fans' come and bash players, whever its Torres, Bosingwa, ive even read people wanted ashley cole out the door, one of the best players in the world in his position ? really, Torres is class, had a bad couple of seasons, but the main thing he still puts a shift in for the team, i could understand the shit he gets if he just stood aroundflicking his hair or something, why dont all the haters of the players in your club you are supposed to support open a negative place where you can all go and bitch ! love it the guy come to chelsea to win medals....... and take a wild stab in the dark as to what he done last season ???? Fuck me you people need to calm down seriously. Drogba is our greatest ever striker, there's not even an argument against that now for me, he's helped win us everything. Leave Torres alone ffs it's getting boring, very boring. Why don't you focus on what's going on now. Torres isn't playing for Chelsea atm and he only played 15 minutes for spain. This thread is awful, really awful.
At least wait unlit tomorrow to see how Torres does, fuck sake.

Sometimes, i ask myself, why i read all this sh!t in this thread. who´s a flop, who´s not, who deserve a medal, who not ... who is better, who not ... and sometimes i think some people have to much time to discuss one point again and again ... weird.
jmarlow: do yourself a favour and leave it, you can not convince some people here.

Soldado finished the season with 1 goal in 10 games. He was already on thin ice as Del Bosque has never fancied him. Don't know why but I have heard it's down to how Del Bosque balances his team on and off the pitch. In selecting Torres and Negredo, DB has taken one striker who plays fast and on the counter while the other has a good overall game and retains the ball well. Negredo is the latter and in choosing Torres, DB has gone with experience and team dynamics. Torres has been with the team for over 90 caps, is one of Spain's captains and whatever you say about him, he's part of the XIV that has won everything. Also Torres on form is better than Soldado on form. There is a class difference--and yes Soldado has been better than Torres the last 2 years but no on current form. Lastly, Torres is well-liked in the dressing room and has long term friendships/relationships with both Barca and RM players. Whereas I have heard Soldado can be prickly.
Lastly, I believed and was proven right that as long as Torres showed DECENT form, Del Bosque wasn't going to the Euros without both Villa and Torres. No way. Del Bosque is very much about familiarity and harmony.
I think Llorente or Negredo will start. If Del Bosque does start Torres, I hope he speeds up the Barca style a bit as methodical possession football is not really Torres' gig. I think DB really likes Negredo even though he may have had a meh season--he's pretty conservative at heart and likes Negredo's overall game and ability to hold up the ball. I know Torres' ball retention sometimes drives DB mad.

It's the end of an era for us lads
For me Didier Drogba was the ultimate striker, leader and gentleman. He was the complete player and so many times was just unplayable. You couldn't coach against him because if you put a small quick defender to halt his footwork and speed, he would beat you in the air, If you put a big, slow defender (Gallas, Toure) to beat him in the air, he would use his speed and power. He is simply unbelievable!
How many times he saved us on the brink of defeat or draw to turn the game on it's head. How many times would we need a player to stand up and deliver and Drogba would put his hand up and do it.
My most memorable game was the 08 Champions League Semi-final vs Liverpool. Rafa Bentiez went to the press calling Drogba a "diver" and a "cheat" and that he was not good for the game. So, what does Didier do? score two of the most amazing goals, run to half way, slide on his knees and pump his chest in front of the overrated Liverpool manager. Things like that are what i was always remember about Didier.
I'm just glad that i can tell my kids that i lived in the time to watch the great Didier Drogba.
He will never be forgotten. We love you big fella.

I edited my post heavily in meanwhile. I agree and don't agree that he is the greatest.. I just refuse to rank them in order, as it would disrespect the lower placed players, but in truth I don't feel any of them were less important than the other and I feel affection for all of them. They always complimented each other and said they couldn't have done it without them, so it's only natural to carve the whole group as "the best" ever.
Also Dids and Lamps perfected one another so well, they truly were the perfect partnership. If I'm going to name Drogba as the greatest, then I will take Lampsy up with him. In words of Term X, he is a phenomenon and so is Lampard.
About JT. He's an exceptional player 'cause he's the only one who is from youth academy. He's Chelsea since little boy. Him and Lampard were in the club when we weren't exactly in the bestest of positions. Drogba would never have come here if it wasn't for Roman's money and Mourinho, at first he was even disgusted for joining us. In that sense, Lampard's and Terry's roots extend longer and deeper. JT and Cech also almost literally died for the team, had it happened we'd be singing a different song. But in terms of gaming impact, Drogba is right up there with them and generally he's a big human being with his philanthropy.

I agree with those comments in that article:
"This is a stupid poll; put this poll up after Lampards left, Lampard will probably get most of the votes. Put it up after JT leaves, he'll get most the votes probably. People are more likely to vote Drogba because he's only just left, and he's left with the parting gift of the UCL, and so people hold him in a higher regard than those still here like Lamps and JT"
"typical hyperbolic exaggerations of a player after they retire/leave the english league. Drogba was/is a class act, but he's no zola"
Also, this poll unfairly disregards JT. I won't be calling Drogba the best ever just yet, I know I would make that knee-jerk sentimental decision based on his recent heroics and departure. Not too long ago I called Lampard the greatest ever and I don't think I'm ready to kick him off the throne just yet (in hindsight I regret questioning his legendary status after the AVB debacle)... when he retires, the outcry would be just as strong as is with Drogba now, if not stronger. The same with JT, although he's doing a great job in sabotaging his image.
Anyway, it would also be a bit disrespectful to rank players in order. For me, our legends should be treated equally.. that include Drogba, Lampard, Terry and Cech... all every bit as important and will be missed as much as Drogba will, all of them worthy to be "the best ever", thus there's no point in choosing one and disrespecting others.

Not too bothered about the fact he's moving to China instead of Europe for the bigger wage..
Most of the money will go straight to his 'Didier Drogba foundation' anyway, helping kids in africa.

I want him to leave, i want this to be his high, imagine if he left last season, it would be nothing compared to this. So glad he stayed.
I want this legend to me remembered for winning us our first Champions League what seemed impossible, with all the odds against us, underdogs you name it we did it. Beat the best team in the world with 10 men, beat the undefeated Germans at penalties in there own home.
Drogbas last kick of the ball for Chelsea is what won Chelsea there first Champions League ever
and that's how i want him to be remembered.
