COME ON, KALOU. IVORY COAST CRUISING. Good shot by Drogba, well positioned Kalou

Good positioning by Drogba, well capitalised

What some of our fellow fans fail to understand is that our players are underperforming. Some are losing form due to age factor, most are losing form because of the attitude, loss of motivation. Look at Carvalho - he said he left for RM because he needed a new challange, and while he did play for us last season he was always perfect. I would just revamp the squad, keep Ancelotti and see how it goes. It's impossible to predict anything. In my eyes only the likes of JT, Lampard and Drogba should be given some slack due to their work and passion for the club, I'd love to see them retire here - that doesn't mean they need to be starters if they underperform, we can always use rotation.
-
Ramires and Alex out so I guess we will see Benayoun starting, Luiz starting and hopefully Torres starting, he needs the games. Summer will do wonders with Torres, can't wait
-
Pool played 5-4-1 against us (3 CBs)
-
I watched him play for Holland, he got MOTM.. was brilliant

Ricardo Carvalho: I joined Real Madrid from Chelsea because I needed a new challenge I'm thinking that the likes of Anelka and Malouda don't want "a new challange" because they know they wouldn't probably make it into any top team, so they wouldn't play on that big stage anymore. Carvalho left in good form, excellent player. We should just let some players go to give Sturridge and McEachran a chance, plus bringing in proven, young, ready-to-perform-right-here-and-then players.

Which team do you support after we are knocked out?
MetsajCFC replied to ack17's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I can't say I'd support but I would like Mourinho to win it. I hate Barcelona and Manchester United -
Because of their financial policy. And to say that they aren't progressing by a year is ignorant (i'm not saying you did), they will be a major threat next season if they keep the squad and bring in some depth, experience and quality
-
Means he is not stupid. He is a very intelligent man and I for sure couldn't question his intentions. I recommend to read Totally Frank by Frank Lampard, describes a lot behind the scenes with Mourinho, Ranieri and Abramovic. Good read mate, will give anyone a second perspective. I can't understand why people keep coming up with these statistics about Ancelotti's AC Milan times. You can't compare the leagues and fact that he could come here without knowing a word of English and winning the double and giving us a reputation similar to Barcelona at times says something. He has never been given a real chance in sense that this squad is Mourinho's. I believe if he is given a chance to build new midfield or atleast some part of it and get wingers in to match his diamond tactic, the doubters will change their mind no doubt. Moreover, this isn't only Ancelotti's fault. Lot of it can be put on underperforming starplayers. People argue that we should bench Lampard - but with who? Utopistic talks about McEachran stepping up now just seems ignorant. We needed this season ,we had it coming and its something all clubs go through at some point. What makes Manchester United so stable is their coach, who was on the verge of being fired when he first came there, if you can remember. I think Ancelotti deserves atleast another season if we manage to hold onto top4 finish. If not, then without a shadow of a doubt he should go but that's a long shot. I'm confident we'll make it into top four being two points clear of City with a game in hand. My verdict would be to give him another season and support him both financially and psychologically. You, I or whoever can't imagine under how much pressure they are and I think Ancelotti especially is coping very nicely - giving calm and calculated interviews, praising the opposition when needed and giving credit to us aswell, because in my eyes we did have a good game but we can't convert and that's something Ancelotti can't do, it's the players. Just think back and you'll realise that we've always created chances but we can't conver them. Give Ancelotti time and you won't regret it, otherwise we'll be back to changing managers and having a squad full of players who are bought in by different managers and no identity. Oh and I doubt he was asked if he wanted Ray Wilkins sacked? I doubt he did, just adds to his worries and we as fans aren't helping his case. Torres needs the summer break. Last year at Liverpool was frustrating for him, they were totally dependant on him and Gerrard. He had a successful World Cup, took most of his "rest period". People tend to forget that footballers are people. It's hard for anyone to move their life from one place to another and start again, but if you need to move from Liverpool to Chelsea and start again it's bound to be tricky. Summer is all he needs, in my eyes his season starts 15.August 2011.

I read that around 20mil. Pointless, not needed. We've got problems basically everywhere but defense, not at least that urget ones. I'd rather see us invest heavily into midfield, wingers. Sturridhe returning is giving me so much optimism for next year, feels like a new signing already for me
-
I just read that Marcelo Lippi "would love to manage in the Premier League and would love to coach Chelsea", direct Lippi's quotes apparently
-
On the paper our squad is strong, the names are well known but we play like amateurs at times. It's not Ancelotti , it's the veteran players
-
Ref was portuguese
-
Got to give it to you, I agree
-
Letting Lampard go is never going to happen, are you joking mate. Torres - too soon to call, he has literally NO service
-
I totally agree with you but we always say that. Letting Ancelotti go would send out wrong signals and no long term manager with those demands would be interested - it'd be naive and dumb to believe they would be given a fair chance especially after we've gone through managers like socks, no point risking reputation for money.
-
That's harsh on Tottenham and Liverpool, what are they when we are average?
-
Ancelotti must have been quite confident of his seat because he said before the game that he doesn't think this result would cost him his job. So I think he'll stay, I hope he does anyway. I think anti-Ancelotti fans will also understand this decision in the long run but I doubt pro-Ancelotti fans would ever understand the sacking. Would just bring back the memories of 2008-2010 times. People fail to understand that we need STABILITY more than we need trophies at the moment. There's one trophy so one team can win it, the best team. You can't always be the best, especially in sports that involves so much luck and moments of brilliance. You truly think we would have beaten Barcelona or Real Madrid with Mourinho in the final - didn't think so. So cheer up and move forward. Supporting a football club is like marriage (usually anyway) - you ideally support one club all your life and you do it in good and worse.

Alex might have been injured? Think mate.

Glad to see so many good posts and reactions out here, proud to be a Chelsea fan. I'm 110% behind Ancelotti but we also need to re-build. To blindly go into next season with this squad we will cut our finger again. It's good to point fingers now at Ancelotti but in the long term, when he gets the authority he deserves and the squad he deserves, we can't judge him. You might argue that on paper SAF had a weaker team but they had the passion and urge to do it. We just showed up, thinking of whatever. I think we need to break the spine to some extent of current Chelsea and build a new one. I can't wait for summer to give us chance to regroup and rebuild, rethink and reevaluate all of this. I don't think we can blame Ancelotti with tactics, perhaps only the line-up. How can Ancelotti's tactics change the fact that we can't take our chances, we were pressing and scored with 10 players. It was all right in the tactical apartment. What we lack is creativity and unity. Remember, it's good to point finger with emotions high but realistically, I'd let 3-4 players go than to let Ancelotti go.

Overplayed, all hands up. Positive: Ramires - shows skill and determination, seemed to be our only attacking force at some point Ivanovic,Cole - wonderful play in my eyes, don't get the support they need by our "wingers" Alex,JT - nothing to be ashamed of, perhaps the Park goal but that pass should never have gotten to Park if we had midfield Drogba - really nice display from him -away support was wonderful Negative: -the result obviously, but in a sense the Park goal gives me peace, then we can't blame the not given penalty -Lampard, the guys is great, but he needs to be given a rotation like Giggs or Scholes. I just think he doesn't have the energy anymore to go week in week out. -Torres,Anelka, Malouda- need to shape up and rather quick. All of them did some nice footwork and created 2-3 chances but missed all of them. I'm really fed up with 5 goals/season strikers. I'd rather see Sturridge playing for us. I'm not saying that they were 100% awful but they faded away. They started alright, Anelka had some good chances but that's it. - Refereeing, soft yellows to mould the game, ungiven penalty.. leaves taste of shit in my mouth till next season.
-
I think our overall display was pretty good but we need to take our chances. Fast subs, good teamtalk and player that show up with physically and mentally are needed. I think everyone apart from Anelka, Malouda, Lampard, Essien have been playing good. Ramires has been superb.
-
Against the run of play. We miss our chances and let's face it they weren't that hard to convert. And now the peahead scores, fuck sake. 2 goals needed, unlikely but till our last breath I guess, come on. Away fans have been brilliant. Was the goal offside?

http://www.uefa.com/...7737/index.html Understandable to leave Yossi on bench, he has hardly played. Anelka-Torres is full of potential and we can switch from 433 to 442 and the other way around easily
