They weren't our best players by that point, or maybe they were which if anything emphasises the issues in that squad more. Apart from the late cup games the entire old guard looked absolutely done.

Frank De Boer at Palace more like.

Unfortunately going by TTs words and actions he's acting like it's still 2017 where Kante is concerned.
-
Tbh i'd just let Ross see out his contact. For all his flaws he does tend to have a month a season he plays quite well, if this time round it comes when Mount is gassed after a long world cup he could come in handy one more time.

Don't agree. Last season yes, we lazily looked at the top line instead of going after Sterling (reading between the lines of The Athletic article he'd have been available last summer too). This summer despite being linked with a lot of players almost all of them i could identify with how they fit the best version of our system.

I "played" this season on FM last year and if it's the reality this year it will make everything of the last two seasons and even the restart period feel like a once a week stroll of a schedule (if we try for everything), especially after the world cup. I wouldn't be surprised if we have to pull a Klopp and unleash the U23's on a cup tie at some point and it would be out of sheer necessity.

If we go as far in all comps as we did last season we'll be lucky to get a midweek off for the remaineder of the season once the UCL kicks in. There's more than enough games to go round.

In what way is Gvardiol any more proven?
-
If we're sticking to recent times then United got world cup and 4x UCL winner Varane for around half the price they spent on Maguire.
-
We paid £50m for Torres yet in the 18 months after got Hazard and Mata for marginally more combined. We got Kovacic for the same price as Bakayoko. Circumstances dictate pricetag, not prior transfers.
-
In the Everton game we were so high up at times one ball over the top had Gray on a dangerous 1 vs 1 with Silva. There's a difference between being defensive and defending well.

I don't buy for one second that Lukaku didn't want to leave Inter, he was happy as larry in his early games and interviews. This shit with him started when he realized he had a fight on for his place instead of having it handed to him. As soon as he's dropped for Dzeko (Inzaghi's style is possession based so he won't last the season as a starter) his "love" for Inter will disappear into the night aswell.

Depressing given Pulisic will remain but a loan could really work for him.

Strangely enough I'd be more worried for this one off match if they still had Jose, as defensive as he gets against fully functioning on form top teams when he smells blood he exploits it (ala that United 1-6 game). He'd have probably looked at how much shaper Spurs were compared to us today and looked to race into an early lead that we'd be unlikely to return from. This could come back to bite me but I feel Conte just like last season (where again Mou would have smelt blood with the form we were in around January time) will pay us a bit too much respect and play our name as opposed to form/fitness.

I had a bit of empathy in the past for rival fans lashing out in jealously while they were stuck with Kroenke/Glazers/Levy etc but after a high portion of them spent months wishing for us to go out of business (something I'd never wish on any club) fuck them, bring on the tears.
-
In the short term I agree but with Jorgi not getting any younger and potentially leaving next summer securing a long term replacement could be massive.
-
The calls for Emerson to replace him were truly odd.
-
Put it this way, i'd be very surprised if there's many major league or European cup winners where the squads average age was under 25. I'm all for giving opportunity to youth but there has to be a balance. If the squad is too young a general lack of experience will get you at crucial times.

I would have made the Colwill loan a 2 year one, especially if we sign Forfana because it will be hard to fit in two early 20's CB's regardless of how good they are. Two years time Wesley will be approaching Terry's age in 2004 so should make it a little more viable.
-
If i had to guess it's looking like a similar plan to the early Roman years, spend our way to parity with the big two then focus on the sustainablity profit side of things once the success arrives which is where i'd guess the big money signings while still happening will be less frequent and we'd be looking at getting Slonina, Colwill, Hutchinson etc in the side. Hopefully we do that second bit better this time as we really stood still with squad building circa 07-10.

Actually from what i've seen and heard Haaland's 'back up' is a lot more suited to Pep's style.
-
He won't be anywhere near as bad as you know who but Auba would be another case of just looking at the top line without factoring in stylistical fit.
-
Despite our lack of a specialist we still hit our 3rd highest PL tally ever last season with every outfielder bar Sarr netting at some point.
-
Only until the novelty wears off. We've seen Pogba and even CR7 scapegoated due to being unable to carry the shit around them.
