Just to add further context these were Mount's stats upto and including the Liverpool game. There's no denying he's been average to poor recently, but you think a start like this alone would buy anyone new to the league some time, let alone a 20 year old homegrown kid. And we have the cheek to moan at Roman for supposedly being impatient, some of our fanbase make him look as patient as the guy who decided to stick by SAF.

Are you waiting for Reece's first blip to tell us all Dujon Sterlings better?
-
Oh don't get me wrong I am by no means saying they don't deserve to be critisized, but writing them off when they've already shown themselves to be quality players at this level is absurd. It's hardly a Patrick Bamford case where he looked out of his depth (at PL level) from day dot. Form is going to fluctuate with these lads at this age, Pulisic after a period of looking genuinely on Hazard's level is slowing down a bit again. At some point we will see the Mount of August and September again.
-
The second Gallagher hits a rut he'd be thrown under a bus aswell.
-
Two months of poor form is all its taken to give up on an 18 and 20 year old. I wonder what Terry's thread would look like if this place existed in 1999.
-
They've already tried this new manager bounce things and if anything have got worse. Even if they get a new manager now they won't be able to make any tactical imprint during this schedule. Play like we did against Watford, City, Ajax (away) or even Villa they only thing that will prevent us getting three points is crap finishing.
-
I pray we bring our good side to The Emirates. If we do it will be the easiest three points of the season.
-
When someone suggested signing him in 2017 I was outraged by the mere though of it, but in hindsight he could/should have been signed instead of Zappacosta for the wingback position.
-
That's how I see it, get a number two good enough to oust him if he keeps faltering and if that doesn't work replace him properly. Im not sure how much of his slump right now is down to Hilario, look at Liverpool for example, the coach who was being partly blamed for Mignolet, Bogdan and Karius being so shit is still there training Alison and Adrian who are comfortably the best 1 and 2 combination in the league.
-
I agree with the latter and even said yesterday we miss him in games like that but I couldn't disagree more with the former, Mason's performances before the second international break (and against Villa) are better than anything Ross has produced for us bar the Southampton and Burnley away games under Sarri.
-
Lampard has frozen out Alonso, Pedro, Giroud and Barkley, something fans were begging Sarri to do, especially in the formers case. There's only so many players he can be "ruthless" with in one go.
-
I personally think the diamond is the way to go if we want to spring a surprise with the current form of the wingers (even Pulisic is slowing down of late). I can't help but feel we will somehow get a result, the whole world expects us to lose badly and whenever we're in that position we normally tend to pull something off.
-
I don't really like 3atb with our personnel, the element of surprise worked at Wolves but after that it was like watching painting dry. For it to be effective we need atleast one converted winger in the wing back positions, playing two fullbacks there will just render the formation to a back five and make us look even more dead going forward, not even James looks that good as a wingback in my opinion. Watching Spurs now despite winning they're very very shaky at the back, if we can take our Villa or even Everton in the first half performance to WHL we will create chances.
-
Is it? I don't think it's anywhere near as rare as people make out, for starters the two best CBs are January buys.
-
But a lot can change before then. On the form of October we would have won the last four league games on an aggregate score of about 14-3. Form will fluctuate with us until the young one's fill out.
-
In big games at the minute I'd agree but in games where we're looking to be spending most of the game in the middle and final third, pushing up pressing and passing through the eye of needles I'd say the Jorgi and Kova are the men. The first 80 minutes of Watford away is the pure blueprint for me, it was an absolute delight to watch. Kept setting pressing bait time and again and played out and through them with so much ease and whenever we lost it got it back unbelievably quickly. I think eventually the plan/hope is to be able to play like that even against the best (ironically how our lads did at youth level, rival sides including Sancho, Foden, Rashford, Trent couldn't cope with us) which in that case they would be first choice full stop.
-
Depends in what context you mean, if you mean competitive straight away I don't even think that will do it, we have too many holes right now to compete with what's on offer at the top of this league. However I think a good few windows and we can actually be challenging the year after next. Since we've changed our style of play our transfers have been very promising, for example we've gone from probably the worst midfield in the top 10 to the best outside of City.
-
I never thought I'd say this but are we actually better balanced and pull off our progressive style of football better without Kante playing? Out of the games I look at as a blueprint to where i hope we end up when we peak (Brighton at home, Ajax away, Watford away) he hasn't played in any of them.
-
This is why I was worried when we had that winning run, expectations became too high. The reality is we're not as good as we made ourselves look then and are not as bad as we're making ourselves look now, we're going to look shit against Bournemouth but equally there be times we out football Ajax in their own backyard.
-
5th to 7th and he would have absolutely not failed all in all, especially if the next generation are firmly established in the squad.
-
They use to say that when his Chelsea faced Brendan's Liverpool then when he faced early Klopp Liverpool. Even in our current form there's not a snowball in hell's chance he goes for the throat.
-
No chance. Even if things head that way Jose will shut up shop to reserve energy for the Christmas period.
-
Tammy failed to connect to two tap ins, Willian had another but somehow let the defender come goal side of him, we had a three on one that turned into three on five due to dillying with it. Mount and Willian had two other big chances. I very much put that defeat down to finishing, we opened Everton up constantly between their first two goals.
-
Second half against West Ham fair enough but Everton was lost due to dire finishing. We should have ended that game by half time.
-
A motivated Conte is great, which makes the second season even more hard to take.
