Yeah with him and Pedro starting to hit form feels like we could get a perfect swansong from them both.

The CL is more than just about winning it. If we somehow did it next week we'd have that memory forever even if we lost the quarter 12-0.

By all means call off games for later if a whole squad is quarintened but to call of domestic football totally is too much in my opinion. The risk of an under 50 dying of Cov19 is 0.2%, if you haven't been to China then decreases spectacularly, if you don't have underlying health problems that goes down further and I imagine for a fit and healthy athlete further still. Not to mention they are probably all taking nessesery precautions. The players are more likely to lose their life travelling to a match than they are to the virus. If it ultimately comes to it they can have the players and subs playing with just cameramen while any (at risk) coaches can manage through Skype or something.

Because it's not the 6th game of the group with our fate already decided, there's still a chance, it may be 1/100 but still a chance. Imagine if we played a scratch side, Bayern had a shocker and we won 1-0 on the night, we would forever be kicking ourselves knowing if we played our best available team we would have probably done the impossible. Furthermore there's more to be gained from this game even beyond that, making a game of it and giving Bayern a scare (like say what Liverpool did to us in the second leg in 09 after we battered them at Anfield) could in itself be something for our young players to build on.

No, that would be silly!!!!
-
Behind closed doors is an understandable (and correct) course of action. Suspending league's in my opinion is just too much.

Well it kind of goes hand in hand, Bayern wouldn't have offered him and us such a mega deal if he didn't have elite potential. If Google exchange rate isn't lying to me he would have jumped immediately in at number 2 for their most expensive signing ever, falling to number 3 when Hernandez joined. https://sillyseason.com/list/bayern-munich-most-expensive-signings-131572/

120k a week basic is the rumoured wage which really isn't that obscene when you consider inflation, his potential and the leverage he had. We sign a standard squad player in his place and we're paying around that much pw for him too and unlike with Callum, there's no elite potential to go with it. Way everyone bangs on you'd think we've done an Alexis. We aren't the first and won't be the last club to take calculated gambles on elite potential, like I said United are rumoured to be handing 100k a week alongside a £50m transfer fee to a kid with one season's championship experience. Data is so far advanced these days it isn't actually that hard for fans to work out who's going to make it at this level let alone coaches/scouts, that's why we "caved in" to Callum and sent Solanke on his way, that's why perreniel penny pinchers Bayern were happy to spunk £35m for him at a point he had two career starts.

Kakuta wasn't even that good and McEachran was talented but passive. Put it this way, his little brother is better than he was, however he's not on our radar regarding first team promotion while Josh was considered our next big hope. Aswell as that demonstrating just how much our academy has improved it also shows just how desperate we were for a talent to come through. Now we've actually got a score of elite prospects coming through the ranks there's no need to pretend whoever today's versions of Kakuta and Bamford are something they're not.

When Ross plays with Mount (in a 4-3-3) he doesn't seem to play as advanced as he does when he's the most attacking midfielder, which seems to suit him a lot more. Aside from that little purple patch under Sarri i can't think of a single performance of his playing with 2 of Kova, Jorgi, Kante that he's impressed me, he overthinks things and doesn't seem to be able to handle the pressure of having to be the main guy for end product from midfield.
-
So out of curiosity, would you have let him walk?
-
So is your scenario Callum was one of the star men of the most dominant academy team since the Busby babes, had Bayern (well renowned for their penny pinching) willing to spend £35m after two first team starts. He passed all the tests at youth level and all things considered has done well with the step up to the first team. There's never any guarentee with any players but he's done and shown enough to take that chance on, not only that, like I said 120k really really isn't that much for a player of his talent, a standard squad player signing would be commanding in or around that these days, case in point Drinkwater.
-
Probably not half as bad as if we let him go because he "wanted too much" only to see him furfil his potential at Bayern or worse a top six rival.
-
He has elite potential and was subject to a £35m bid from Bayern Munich, that type of stuff (not to mention our insistence we learned from the De Bruyne situation) was always going to give him leverage. Infact the fact Bayern would have paid him that if we didn't took all our leverage away full stop. Take a look at Jude Bellingham for example, one season at Birmingham he's commanding £50m and 100k a week (alleged price United are paying). This they have to clean boots and earn the pay rise narrative is nice and romantic and all but just simply not realistic to the state of play in 2020. If we want to keep elite prospects we have to pay up or someone else will do it for us.

Hudson Odoi is on 120k a week basic, it really isn't that big a deal all things considered.
-
For the Bayern game I'd be inclined to agree but for Villa I'm confident if he's playing more deeper he will have another good game.
-
Conte aswell, he wouldn't have let us leave our box in the cup game against Liverpool.
-
In all honesty I thought he was poor against Liverpool despite that great goal but the complete opposite today. He needs to start showing it a lot more often but he will be in the side against Villa (even if Kova returns) and rightly so.
-
It could inadvertedly benefit us in the run in with him more fresh.
-
If Kante walks back in the side now it would be outrageous.
-
Was I the only one that felt a little bit sad for Carlo when they zoomed to the bench? Shame this isn't Jose or Conte then I'd be pissing myself.
-
Hopefully soon if he says yes to my proposal
-
Fwiw I wasn't really refering to you more the ones who call him things like Lampard's nephew.
-
What i dont get is why do people keep falling for it with Jose? I know a lot of us did (me included) but at that point we only really had minimul (certainly compared to now) evidence he may be well past his best. However when he was appointed Spurs manager a lot of Spurs fans were adamant he was going to change, he didn't for the club he made his name at or his supposed dream job but was defiently going to for them It would be like us appointing Wenger and the majority of the forum going to extreme lengths to convince ourselves he's learned from those last 7 years at Arsenal.
-
Anyone seen the Spurs lineup? They're playing a back 3/5 with two centre backs at wingback, it's frustrating enough watching defensive fullbacks at wingback let alone natural CBs! And to think there were some who actually we're up for a Jose mark three.
