Despite the sad result of drawing at the bridge, all the guys played well. The only things that are lacking right now is 1. Cohesiveness of between the 11 men on the field but we still lack that network. 2. Torres is no more the striker he was in Liverpool and Atletico. If you look at the the current MUFC team they are really no where near a great team but they are delivering why?, because the two points outlined above has been imbibed into there game. There is cohesivness in MUFC from keeper to striker, they have options on the bench (example "overweight' Anderson he still delivers quality passes). How about point number 2 Strikers - RVP, Chicharitti, Rooney in fact everybody is a scorer in MUFC. To be honest every player played well today but without a "Drogba" our chances of success are slim. Ramires in fact put every foot right today I praise him for his showing even Mikel did well apart from maybe on two occassions. My recommendation is these guys ie all the players should start imbibing target practice in their game. They need to practice shooting on target from 25-30 yards ala Essien) so that all our goals will not be expected from our 'false' no. 9. These shooting practice is also recommended for our atticking trio of Hazard Mata and Oscar. But I strongly recommend an improvement in Mikel's and Ramires shooting. They way to be great players is by improving on where one is lacking.

does Torres still need to in this team?

CFC: Who we are and who we are not After watching Chelsea defeat Shaktar in the second leg, I felt it necessary to share some of views with our honorable forum. My observation is that inasmuch as we win some games there is something that has characterized the team for some time now and that is; Chelsea has in all these years failed to form a cohesive team amidst our victories that element of connectivity between the defence-midfield-attack is lacking heavily and something needs to be done to change this. Secondly why are Chelsea players so in love with the ‘yellow-card’. If you make a list of our players you find that the probability of each player conceding a yellow card is appaulingly high. Neat entertaining football is not played with brute force but with skill and intelligence look at these examples: Ramires 35-60 percent chance of conceding a yellow card, maybe even higher David Luiz 30-60 percent chance of conceding a yellow card Mikel 40-55 percent chance of conceding a yellow card Ivanovic 35-50 percent chance of conceding a yellow card John Terry 35-40 percent chance of conceding a yellow card Ivanovic 35-50 percent chance of conceding a yellow card I think RDM should start emphasizing clean play amongst these players, that is what a good team is meant to look like – clean play. Next on our players: Firstly how can we solve the David Luiz erratic problem? He is a skillfull guy no doubts, strong attacking qualities but he lacks the seriousness and no-nonsense approach to defensive duties. I think he should go and watch videos of defensive greats such as Paulo Maldini and Franco Baressi to realize that in the defence you don’t joke for even a second, you are expected to put on a serious act from start to finish, why? because any defensive error could be as costly as conceding a goal. If I was coach and have immense options of defenders I will convert David Luiz from a defender to an attacking midfielder he has a knack for wanting to prove to the crowd that he is good on the ball so I guess an attacking midfield role will accord him that desire. Note that Mikel used to be an attacking midfielder before joining Chelsea he was converted to a defensive midfielder and I must say he is doing a good job of it even though he doesn’t score and commentators like to make fun of this but he does distribute balls well. Secondly Ramires: ‘All energy no finesse’, please can a psychologist talk to Ramires to stop bamboozling his way in every attack, try to slow down his pace and give himself some room to think so as to complete his moves effectively. He is good at collecting the ball and after 2 or 3 dribbles gives it straight back to the opponent. Suggestion he should learn from his fellow Brazilian Willian of Shaktar, we all can see how smooth Willian is on the ball. Ramires plays like raw diamond yet unpolished. His game needs a bit of polish. And Finally, how long will we be patient with Torres? Don’t get me wrong I am one very strong admirer of Torres when he was with Liverpool, I used to be awed by his ball handling skills and how he manufactured goals out of nothing, I have even watched several of his goals on you tube because I greatly admired his skills. For some unknown reason it’s just not happening for him in Chelsea and I wonder how long we will have to wait. To be honest it is already costing us this season, even though we have escaped with some victories and draws here and there, I bet you if Torres was delivering we would probably be at 100% wins as at this point in the season but Torres is not scoring and he losses possession easily. He was a nightmare yesterday November 7th (CFC –Shaktar,3-2). Please Mr. RDM if you don’t see promise in Torres’ game PLEASE pull him off early enough so that the subs can get meaningful time to contribute more positively to games. I remain a fan of Torres and greatly wish him the best regarding improvement.

American football - They pause the game and contest decision the match officials arrive at a concensus decision

Alex Fergi!!!! - That man can be shamelessly ruthless Alex Fergie, hypocritically said that Rio Ferdinand would be disciplined for not wearing anti-Rasicm T-shirt, big travesty in itself. The new campaign should be "Say no to bad and partial refereeing" and The so called 'Mega'-coaches/managers be forced to wear the tee shirt for the entire duration of the games. Alex Fergie shd STFU arrogant cheat!
-
Rightly said Ivanovic clipped Young's leg accidentally, but as the rule book says he has to go under such circumstance; Sad as it played out, all was compounded by the Torres red card which in no way was a dive there was obvious contact, just as there was contact from Ivanovic. Clattenberg has always been known for scandalous refereeing, who knows he might be an investor MUFC stocks. It was sad because Torres' red card came just as RDM was planning on pulling him off for Sturridge. In all I was proud of the Chelsea boys for proving they could dominate Man U. Then look at that old man, Fergie ( I am never a fan of his) he was wise enough to pull off Rooney in avoidance of a likely 2nd Yellow. Tell the old man he won against a 9 man chelsea. My question is: How many games do players miss after a red-card?
-
Good Game Good Result. We are getting there... not there yet, but we will get there!!!! Good work Boyzzzzz!!!! Few pointers: What if Bale was there for Spurs??? YES - Bale could make some difference Bale can make Ivanovic concede a yellow card - which means costly!!. Then on the left flank Ashley Cole did not do enough as an experienced defender to curtail Lennon, Ash was always moving backwards while Lennon comes at him. The way to stop Lennon is Stay right in front of him, ignore him and focus on wherever the ball goes then swipe the ball away from Lennon - Simple!. If he comes at Ash 3ce and doesnt succeed in going forward, he wouldnt come back again rather he would pass the ball as soon as it comes to him. Ashley take note of this in the future when you meet players who have speed but minimal tact. Back to Bale - If Bale was there we will respond with our own offence. My prayer is Victor Moses be giving more game time, i notice he rarely looses possesion. The way to disrupt an opposition attack is not only by defending well but also by tormenting them with a solid attack, that will reduce the opponents focus on attacking as they know committing more players in to attacking would be detrimental to their victory in the presence of the well-knit attack that Chelsea FC is brewing up. And on Torres, I still respect him to date, but one goal he would have scored was the one-on-one with Freidel, instead of attempting a convetional chip over Brad, he should have used the un-conventional sidekick which Ramires attempted towards the end of the game. I have seen Torres do this successfully in the past. That trick would have fooled Brad and would have made Torres the winner of goal of the month... lol (Just me saying some funny things, part of the celebrations of the derby win). RDM, Please give Victor Moses playing time start trying out our new acqusitions particularly the wing-back positions (Bertrand/Azpi). Didnt know we still have comrade Paulo Ferreira in the team - Such a loyal guy, I think he should be honored with a managerial position -something like assistant scout for the second team.

Can Chelsea play with a false #9 like Barcelona?
Owizzy replied to BOSS's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Not much to say, now other than We still need some senior boys (Terry/Lamps/Ash Cole) in the team to add leadership and direction to the team. RDM should get decisive as to what to do with Torres, if he doesnt spark put him on the bench dont hesitate to sub him. IMO, the new chelsea seem to have players that display some lovely attacking flair and I think Sturridge should be utilised more often, RDM should give him some playing time if he does well so be it Torres can watch from the bench. I am happy we have Victor Moses in the team we need a little bit of physical strength in the attack and he has it aside from is other good points. Again Mr David Luis!!!!! ---- STOP GETTING CARRIED AWAY let your game be clean neat and effective. Ramires - where did all that determination of the latter stages of the champions league go? have you "partied" it away? Mikel - You are begining to look like a joker. I am not saying you must score but be jnown for good passing ability thats good enough Stop throwing balls away alarmingly. No more sub-par performances from you again. RDM - If Torres dont impress @ 15mins into a game, assess his ball utilisation within that time frame, if below 70% sub him immediately and put in some other players who are hungry to impress -
Just to add to this flow. In the 2nd semi final played on wednesday 25th, Bayern played better than Madrid, it was like they kind of caged madrid, they had more consistent possesion than Madrid. It was a case of better playing team winning. Anyways I personally will not like to play Madrid (Mourinho) at the final 'cos i consider Mourinho as family for good things he had done for Chelsea and will not wanna play against him

Dont talk about Barca scoring, talk about Chelsea scoring and preventing Barca from scoring; Anyways here is the winning formular: To win Barca we must resort to man-to-man marking, there should NEVER be any Barca attacker left free. We should mark all their players so they dont have room to pass to each other. We dont wanna see a re-enactment of Messi dribbling Mikel (his runner-up for man of the tournament in their U21 days) and making him tumble over simply beacuse he, Mikel was forced to have to block both Messi and any potential team mate Messi was gonna pass to. This should not repeat itself at nou-camp every player must MARRY a Barca player and let Ramires/Drogba/Sturridge/Torres inflict the damage on Barca. The rest including Lampard of the players from Mata backwards should all concentrate on 100% total defence, Occassionally Mata can make forays in the attack. I bet you if we paly man-to-man with Barca they will be caged. Mark my word.... buts thats only if we adopt this technique.

Okay Okay so we won leg 1: How do we win the next leg? I was only opportuned to watch the first half of yesterdays game, my understanding is that our tactic was to park the bus and do the counter which worked out for us as we were able to get a slim 1-0 victory. The big question is, will this work at camp nou?. For the 45 minutes i watched here are my few recommendations: 1. We did not park the bus well at all. We were guilty ofleaving the Barca players free most of the times thats why they were waltzing around the Chelsea players with ease. The way to go about parking the bus is to make sure that at any point in time there is no Barca player free (except whichever one is with the ball at that moment). The Chelsea players should adopt a strict man-to-man marking system that way the Barca players will not see free teamates to pass to and we have to be quick at this. Several times yesterday I saw Meireles moving away from his opponent instead of close-marking him. If we repeat this at nou camp we will only end up piling on pressure on our defence and when the pressure gets too much we will falter. Guys, do REMEMBER the many occassions we were saved by the goal post and the readiness of Petr Cech. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, fellow Blue Brigade members help me tell Di-Matteo that it is important to close mark and never should a Chelsea player be seen on a solo walk (aside from the striker(s)) Every Chelsea player from defensive mid field to defence should marry at least 1 Barca player. 2. This second suggestion is the magic formula, instead of playing 9-1 formation as we attempted to do yesterday I will rather we play 8-2, ie two strikers the rest 8 can be shared between midfield and defence. What I would really love to see is Sturridge as the 2nd attacker, my reason: If we pack the bus we only end up given all the Barca players the opportunity to become attackers, BUT if we do have an occassional tormentor, this will de-stabilize the Barca formation and they have to reduce their numbers in our own half. With a player like Sturridge who can be silky, he can run Puyol to shreds and even 'maybe' force penalties out of him. So lets not wholly depend on Parking-the-bus defensive system alone. With Sturridge Drogba and Ramires, we can torment the Barca defence and good enough the lad Ramires is abundle of energy and can always help when necessary in defensive midfield duties. Mata wasnt seen much yesterday however, Lampard did well in the withdrawn role, so let Mata go into central midfield and make the distributions. We can start with that. Also if Torress is not suffering from Jelly feet he can sub someone in the attack because he has strong legs and can hold the ball.... more to Come Please forward to Di Matteo. DO NOT PARK THE BUS WE NEED TO OCCASSIONALLY DESTABILIZE THEIR DEFENCE SO THAT THEY FALL BACK. PARKING THE BUS WILL ONLY MAKE THEM ATTACK AND ATTACK AND IF WE ARE UNLUCKY, WE CONCEDE. ADOPT MAN-TO-MAN MARKING AND FC BARCELONA WILL BE CAGED. NO TEAM IS UNBEATABLE. AND YES CHELSEA CAN DOIT AFTER THE COME BACK AGAINST NAPOLI, CHELSEA REMAINS A TEAM TO BE FEARED....... Thank you Blue Brigadeans

I intend as much as possible to be brief: Okay on CFC winning the champions league; possible ONLY if: Ramires: Improves on Goal Scoring Kalou: Becomes More reliable or better still stay on the bench. Ivanovic: becomes more consistent and play without conceding Card(s) Ashley Cole: improve right-leg shooting Mata: Improve right leg shooting Sturridge: Improves right leg shooting. If he must play push him to the left side of the attack, so that brother Asley Cole will focus More on defensive duties in order not to put pressure on rest of the defence Bosingwa/ Ferriera: Both remain UNFIT let them watch the games from the stands Midfielders (Lamps/Miereles/Mikel/Essien): whovever plays should imbibe possesion football: Never be responsible for loss of possesion tackle well and defend well. Torres: Though getting better is still missing that cutting edge that we knew him for David Luiz: Now there is no time for skill display that ends up putting you in danger of conceding cards. Leave all the show-boating for beach soccer in Rio-de_Janeiro where there are bikini clad babes that would admire you. On the field of play it is serious business, we know you are good but your playing like an adolescent and taking undue risks is not a required ingredient for victory. Cahill: I see in positive light as he still strong and not aging. RDM find a way to fit him into the core machinery for victory. Drogba & Terry: Your dogged determination has won us several victories. PLEASE infuse this in the minds of the other players Just a little contribution from a Blue Spirit: Fellow CFC fans please can someone help pass this unto Roberto Di Matteo, if you have his address (email or phone #) please send it to me i will like to have a one-on-one with him on THE WAY FORWARD IN THIS MOMENT :blue scalf:

DANIEL STURRIDGE: Good win for Chelsea today. Happy for Torres hopes the flame has been re-kindled, we need to find a blend between him and Drogs. My major point for the day Is Danny Studge, I think the mentality of youth is still bothering him thats why he still believes in playing to the gallery and losing out on the objective of winning as a team. His attempts at trying to show skills (which virtually every professional palyer possesses at least 75% of) cost the team numerous potential goal scoring opportunities. If I were the team selector and I have to chose Sturridge, I will chose him but as a consequence of his youthful/"going for personal glory' I will put him on the left attacking wing position soafter all his dazzling skills on the left flank he will have no option than to pass to his team-mate to finish off. At least so far it is obvious that his prefered leg is the left and he will not be able to easily score from the left flank after driving in towards the opponents goal post thereby forcing him to pass. No doubts he has the potentials that if nurtured properly he can be great but he still needs to learn TEAM WORK. Sorry studge: not intending to run you down rather trying to make the best Studge out of you.

Hey Fellas, Congratulations to the blue army, they fought, they conquered. Whats next?? = maintainming the tempo: Our target Resolve to win all our remaining matches in all competitions this season. Our lads are no longer young boys but they gave a dogged performance which earned them a deserved victory. I was suprised though by the incoming of Malouda/Bosingwa, I would have preferred the the pair of Mikel/Cahill (or were they nursing injuries)....I know my inclusion of Mikel might awe some fellow fans but the thing is at that time what we needed was someone who could hold onto the ball and buy time for the final whistle and Mikel is good at that. Then in Cahill I see enthusiasm drive and determination. In all, a happy result for us. And on a final note the boys all upped their game notable for me was Ramires (of course all the other players played well as they do most times), but ramires' success rate on the ball today was fanatstic. KUDOS THE BLUE ARMY..... I personally say thank you for giving an ample dose of JOY. Please take it all the way to the cup.

There used to be one black guy (muscular and athletic) that used to ref the games sometime in the late '90s to earl 2k's i havent seen him in a while he was quite sprightly and useful above all he was neutral.

The New Chelsea approach 2012: Firstly hi to everyone: Now enough is enough!, people should stop talking about AVB (or no AVB). AVB is not the problem we are facing right now. Our problem is a depleted, aging squad. Bring in Ferguson/Wenger/Dalglish/Guardiola/(even the special one himself); this current squad is beyond redemption as they have done their time and should honestly be thinking of bowing out for a newer generation of players. When players get older (in terms of years of service), they get weaker and become more foul-prone. Now is time to sell-off at least 65% of our squad and start building with the young ones (and hopefully new ones) we have. What baffles me is when we buy some young player with suppossed talent and we stick him on the bench, why then did we buy him in the first place is it to guarantee him free seat for all chelsea games or just to complete the 22 men in the training field? Lets all rally together and support the present manager AVB and help him to do the best job which we all desire. Now my recomendation: Enough of all these theoretical formation talk of 4-4-2, 4-5-1, bla-bla. let us resort to the old days of playing soccer with dedicated full backs (psitions 2 & 3)/ position 4, 5, 6 as defensive players with one of them been allowed to make occassional forays in the attack. Then we should re-introduce the traditional attacking wingers (positions 7(right) & 11 (left). The last three (positions 8, 9 & 10) will be the attacking Machinery. This works any day provided all players are fit and determined to do their jobs well (this was used effectively by the Super eagles of Nigeria in USA '94 and they had a good showing as debutants up until the Italians destroyed the highly effective left winger then also the guy called "da-bull was destroyed, before others could understand the very effective attack then). So going forward here are a few recommendations, Mata remains #10 playmaker. Sturridge since we want him to be a winger let him move to the left wing since he is somewhat silky he can be giving good supply of crosses to the opponents 18 yard box, he doesnt have to play on the right or else he will never pass he will wanna drive-in and slam with his left (naturally as a young lad he wants to score). Ramires should be polished and taken to the Right wing attacking position. Romeu/mireiles develop them further and stick them in the midfield. This are just some few suggestion. As per #9, thats meant to be Torres's birthright but he his currently suffering from frozen legs syndrome. Thanks will continue in the next post...

Hi fellow CFC gang. "In this moment" it is not news that our darling team needs an effective surgical overhaul to be able to get back to the once formidiable status we had in the 05/06 era. Yesterdays game with MUFC (...name sounds like motherf#@#@..er), just lends support to this even further. Anways yes we lost because we didnt play well enough to win, even with the god of soccer on our side by giving us a 3 goal lead we couldnt take home the 3 points. I will give my assessment on the players in another post. Now my major issue is this when will the FA start giving suspensions to referees who need 'eye operations'? Yesterday Howard Webb gave 2 unjust penalties against us and IMO he should be PUNISHED for that ineptitude. Both MUFC players who 'bought' the penalties did so by running into Chelses players. Blatant robbery not minding our teams ineptitude. I am trying not to talk about players in this post but I can't help but ask Torres?, Torres??, Torres???, .... when when when?. When you were liverpoollian i used to praise you as one of the most effective finishers of the league but now.....? (this leave to ask you, Torres is it for your love for Liverpool FC, that you decided to go on sale and make the club 50million pounds richer, to rescue them from dire straits..... so you can go back and join them later?). You are really hurting us CHELSEA, if you have been scoring (which is what you are paid to do) we will have averted a lot of draws and losses and we will probably be on top of the table or @ worst runners up, but look at where you have put us now .... struggling struggling struggling.... I suggest you go on a mediation trip on the mountains in isolation and start to re-enact your lethal strike-dom.

All said... IMO, we should also improve on our scoring abilities too rather than piling up pressure on the backline. "in-this-moment" we need to address or goal-scoring issues. Cohesion amongst the players is fair but can do with a boost. :goodpost:
-
Agreed he has immense skills and this skills could help us get victories from all these 1-1 draw games we have been having. He is skillfull and I believe his combo with mata and Torres will tear any opposition be it RM or Barc from la-liga. He is good, the issue is that most guys are not just used to paradigm shifts and always stick with what they are used to seeing. But what most of you dont know that in the background some pof the players we see today as strikers were probably midfielders before or even defender. Example Mikel was an attacking MF before in the absence of Makelele he became converted to a DM (actually that stole away his confidence in scoring like he used to do before). So if a DMidfielder cannot score we can say thats fair how about Attacking MFs that throw away numerous golden opportunities

Tomo91, I am not doubting David Luiz being a good player but I tell you he doesn't tackle cleanly. He is quite effective when he goes forward thats why I have this dream of remoulding him into an attacking midfielder. He will surely do well there. (To be frank I am no hater of Luiz, the only thing is I would prefer him tackling in a cleaner fashion, than what he is now being known for, count his appearances then count fouls and cards againts him then work out the stats you will see what I am getting at.). Ivanovic, himself is also foul prone so don't get the impression that I dislike David Luiz. Another foul-poacher in our team is our brazilian engine "Mr. Ramires", all-energy-no-finesse. Ramires honestly doesn't play like a Brazilian, he plays more like a player from one of these micro-soccer-minnows-African nation who play all strength but no skills, he should improve because soccer is not all about energy but fluidity, (Ramires go watch videos of some silky African players when they were in there prime eg, J J okocha, Kanu, Joel Thiehi and Titi Camara , then inculcate that fluidity into your game).
-
Personally, I think David Luiz should move away from defensive duties, he is risky and card-prone. He has a penchant for making attacking forays, so IMO if i were a coach I will convert him to an attacking mid-fielder where i think he will do better. On the right back position we dont have anybody. Between Ivanovic and Bosingwa, Ivanovic is the lesser evil which of course in the absence of any better options we can still manage. Bosingwa yes, in the past was a force to reckon with but right now he is in the same mould as "old-mama-ferriera (or whats-his-name-again)", ie finished players who should be working as coaching assistants for an under-10 youth football academy. Malouda, if you want to go, you can but thanks for your help in the past as a loyal team member. Ramires - still needs to improve on goal scoring and less fouling. Sturridge - remeber you have a right leg too, you can borrow some tips from Mr Torres and you will be the highest goal scorer season after season. Torres - I still respect your goal soring abilities and I believe in you some day you shall still shine, you are too young to be finished at this time. Lampard - Thanks Terry - Thanks Mikel - wake up from your slumber Ashley Cole - Thanks, but also like Sturridge dont forget your right leg. Ivanovic/Bosingwa/David Luiz - try to up things up Chec - I am sure you wondering why this is one of your most disastrous season. What we need: A Carvhalio, a Ronaldo (CR7), and a Zola (Gianfranco) if we can find. We should not waste money buying what or whowe do not need.
