This could be an incredibly big season for Remy if this deal comes off. Think about it, he'll sign a 3/4 year contract most likely to be our 2nd choice centre forward on the best wages hes ever received. Come next summer, when Drogba leaves, surely the choice of the board will be to: a ) Recall Bamford and allow Remy to remain as 2nd choice. b ) Sign another big name centre forward and drop Remy to 3rd choice. I think Remy will need to have an absolutely fantastic season to ensure 'b' doesn't happen.

It really is kinda sad that this relationship is coming to an end two years early. I do really hope that this guy can rediscover something, anything and just enjoy playing football again. Because ever since a couple of months into the AVB era, he hasn't done that. He's looked like the sort of man that doesn't just feel nervous prematch, like a kid making his Premier League debut at 17 filled with butterflies, he looks as though he's filled with dread every time he steps out - scared to make (another) high profile mistake that is going to belittle him and his career. On the whole though, I do believe this guy did everything to 'come good again'. He wanted it badly. But the more he tried the worse he seemed to get. Its a shame, because a long with Bolton, Munich and a few other special Chelsea memories I have I'll always remember being at the Bridge for his first goal against West Ham, or jumping around my living room when he rounded Valdes in Barcelona. I can't think I remember any goal celebrations more precisely than I do those two. So thankyou, Fernando for those two really special memories. Were they worth £50m? Probably not, but they were absolutely priceless at the time.
