Other than under AVB, I don't remember us winning anywhere near that comfortably at SJP. We actually lost there in 2004. Or do you mean at home?
-
Mikel was actually starting to get a little bit more popular this time last year. Got a couple of goals, played a lot at a decent level, even captained the side at Derby for a bit. And then Matic signed and blew him out of the water.
-
Moreno on FB this morning... Look down there Alberto. Right right down near the bottom of the table. That's where Liverpool are.
-
Yep, absolutely. The whole team stepped up, but Drogba almost came back from relatively no where. Robbie didn't have many managerial qualities IMO, but he has to be seen as one of the best managerial motivators. Get the impression at times that he made the players believe things that even he himself wasn't sure we could do. And that applies to Drogba too. Yeah, I think the goal came a bit earlier than that, around an hour, but it was a very dull game. Remember being there, and all anyone was talking about was Napoli.
-
Jose will be in his ear making sure he doesn't get booked this weekend, and then the exact opposite for the following weekend. He'll want Cesc suspended for Derby.
-
Yeah, without doubt. Though pretty much every game under Robbie was a 'big' game. FA Cup, Champions League and fighting for fourth. He scored in Robbie's first league match at home to Stoke which was huge at the time. I don't know what Robbie fed or said to Didier but his form changed almost instantly.

Maybe we should set the negativity on here about Mikel at an all time high so that when he actually plays quite well, he gets a little bit of appreciation. Granted he's no Matic, but there are far worse players out there!
-
True. Forgot about the malaria. Oddly he was never really given any time by the club to go and recover and get fit despite Anelka, Kalou and then Torres being available.
-
If they're both available I wouldn't be surprised if Oscar drops out and Mikel and Ramires both play in a three with Cesc. Can't see that being a particularly popular selection. But would allow Mikel to shield, and then the legs of Ramires or the vision of Cesc to alternate within our attacks - whilst at all times remaining defensively stable. Almost like two men to do the job of Matic. I'll go and hide and await the negative responses now.
-
He played really well in that three months under Robbie, a lot of big performances, not just goals. But the 12 months leading up to that wasn't particularly memorable.
-
There was that and then Lamps pointing to the Champions badges at home to Liverpool or Spurs or some other pile of rubbish. Those two always stick in my mind.
-
This was at WHL. Walked down the tunnel past their fans shouting 'trophies' and pretending to lift one.
-
Its not like this one is it?
-
And people complain about the two-toned blue we have this year!
-
Explain...?
-
I think he started last night purely on the basis that he's been fit more than Remy has been. I think once Remy gets minutes under his belt he'll be a fantastic second choice. And Drogba will he a phenominal 3rd choice.
-
I think people were worried when it looked like it was going to be Costa, Drogba and Torres. Attitudes changed a bit when Remy replaced Torres.

Didn't last season. And probably won't this season. Samsung's contract will run until June or so. So they won't want to give up a game to TA.
-
Top man. Given your track record, I think most will accept this as official.
-
Their team at Burnley: Elliot Janmaat Williamson Dummett Haidara Gouffran Abeid Tiote Ameobi Perez Cisse Wouldn't be surprised if Anita comes in for Perez or Cisse to boost the midfield. Their only other options to start really are Steven Taylor and Remy Cabella.

Krul normally has a good game against us, so good news. I don't think Newcastle have too many players that can hurt us. They'll work hard as always and defend in numbers but I'd expect them to be a lot more open and take a few more risks than Sunderland did last week. Just hope this game doesn't come too soon for us. Got to take our chances against an average back four.
-
Any idea when the announcement is coming? And how does it look, acceptable? Good work again mate.
-
4 clean sheets in a row now for him and the back 4. 440 minutes without conceeding, after a bit of criticism that we weren't keeping any. Keep it up T-Bo.

The red to match that Turkish Airlines logo? Get ready for TC meltdown. :') Wish they'd stop rolling out white away kits, how many times did we wear the 13/14 one? Stick with yellow or black.

Turkish Airlines rumoured to replace Samsung

Coincidence that the news of this deal slowed down when all the Gourlay/Purslow news came out? Wouldn't be surprised if we're getting more out of this than first reported but we'll see. It's clear that this is a growing and improving company, with aspirations to go on to become one of the very elite airlines in the world. Doesn't that match our profile right now? I wish people would stop comparing us on a commercial level to Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid etc. Our fan base and our club stature is growing massively but we're not there yet. But - if we continue to grow and so do they, this relationship could be a gold mine in years to come.
