  1. Delighted for him, hope this act of confidence in him by the club helps him to take his game to the next level. Hope Kakuta and Bosingwa are next in line in terms of contract renewals.
  2. Nothing on Vitesse's site saying so. They have an option to buy both Matic and Rajkovic though.
  3. Why is the club so slow in reporting this? We knew about this since a week back when Vitesse reported it on their website.
  4. Date for the Newcastle game is out. 22nd September 7.45 pm.
  5. Stuck around cos of the nice people here. ( including you, zazzko, the only united fan i can actually talk to) I'm registered on cfcnet as well but just have the introduction post to my name there lol. I just found the people there a bit haughty and uptight and then I came across TC, and it was an easy choice from there on. Still been just under 2 months, but yeah, love it here
  6. Em I've noticed that while quoting posts from external sources, the background colour in the quote is dark blue and the text is a blurry black. I don't know if this has been noticed by anyone else, or if this is a problem that only I am facing, but it makes the text extremely difficult to read, unless you highlight it by selecting it with the mouse pointer. There's no problem with quotes that feature other members' posts, the issue only comes up when posting quotes from external links. Also, is there a possibility of having a 'Tactics' section in the forums? Match threads and player threads often feature discussions about suitable positions, formations etc. Can we feature them all in a new section? Of course I'm more than happy with the current setup and there is no area of concern whatsoever, just suggesting a look at something that popped up in my head.
  7. I get what you're trying to say, but it's important we remember that every deal is an isolated case and it isn't fair to compare deals over a period of time or indeed those in the same year either. In Robinho's case in 2008, Real agreed a deal to sell him to us, but City came in with a bigger offer at the last minute and Madrid sold him to them instead. We actually got the man we wanted, but it's just that Madrid turned out to be a real pimp, pure and simple. As for Torres and Ibra, it's clear Ibra wanted to move, and Barca didn't want him there either. So it's a case of the player and the selling club both wanting a deal to be done. Whereas with Torres, Liverpool refused to sell him, and Torres himself decided to stay once Hodgson was appointed. Nothing we can do in that case. It's similar to Terry and Man City. We refused to sell and Terry wanted to stay. In regard to Aguero, the asking price coupled with his wage demands were too much . Same with Neymar, we made a bid around the region of what we thought was a fair price for him, but Santos wanted more. To sum up, what I'm trying to say is, it's easy to complete a deal when all the three parties want a move (buying club, selling club, and the player himself). Look at the Ramires case for an example in this. But when either the seller club or the player doesn't want a move, a transfer becomes next o impossible to complete.
  8. Premier League clubs' spending on players this season is heading for a four-year low. Unless any big surprise deals are done, spending on transfers by English top-flight clubs is expected to total around £330million this summer - down 25% on last year and the lowest sum since 2006. The Premier League's overall summer transfer spending peaked at £500million in 2008, and was down to£450million last year. In 2006, the figure was £263million. Story The story was published before the window closed yesterday, and taking the deals completed yesterday into consideration, total transfer spending is around the 350 million mark, a drop of 100 million from last year. This is interesting because it's now clear that Man City are the only real 'buying' club in the Premier League, and despite all their millions spent over the last 3 years, the lack of big buys by the other clubs has actually resulted in a net decrease in total spending. We haven't really 'splashed the cash' since Sheva, which is good, and it shows that the days of spending big are over, unless of course, you're Citeh.
  9. Birmingham got a really good deal in Jean Beausejour. He was very good at the WC for Chile and they've got themselves a good winger.
  10. Good luck to the lad. But why is the fee undisclosed? Isn't it common knowledge it's in the region of 2-2.5 mil?
  11. I'm not a fan of goalies or strikers being captains, I think defenders and midfielders are best suited for the armband. Of course the captain needs to be a bloke who's well respected and inspirational. I'd pick Essien with DD as vice-captain.
  12. Bent + Gyan would be awesome for Sunderland
  13. This just in - Gudjohnsen set to reject Stoke loan move, going to Fulham instead! Also, Asamoah Gyan is at Sunderland right now for a medical in a 12 mil pound move
  14. Stream not working, asks me to purchase a premium a/c. You've probably heard this by now, but Klaas Huntelaar has joined Schalke for around 13 mil euro Also, rumours claim Besiktas are in for Robbie Keane and AC Milan are trying to take Robinho for around 15 mil euro EDIT : Robinho has arrived for Milan medical, according to Soccernet.
  15. I wouldn't mind if we started with : Ferreira - Alex - PvA - Cole and a midfield trio of Mikel-Essien-Malouda with Zhirkov on the left wing.
  16. I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to put 12 players on the pitch
  17. In light of the recent increase in arguments between members and some guys saying this forum isn't what it used to be, how do you think has the forum changed since you joined? Has it become better or worse? Also, I'm curious to know how the English members here view members from other countries - as beneficial or detrimental to the forum.
  18. Athletico asking for too much money, plus his wage demands. Not worth it.
