totally agree with the above ^^^^
caught between a rock & a hard place as far as Mount is concerned.
he was consistently 7 or 8 out of 10 for the last couple of seasons.
tailed off last year & everyone said "ah he's played too much football & needs a break"
a fair comment at the time..
however, since then he's been heading downhill like a runaway train.
will he come back? who knows. - hopefully.
but to demand a contract to match any other (much higher performing week in week out) player at the club, to me is ridiculous.
it would be hard to say "wind your neck in" but that's why Chelsea employ top business people to negotiate such deals.
personally I'd not think he warrants any more than any other experienced squad members.
but then we've done just that with the suicide bomber & kdb & were proved embarrassingly wrong both times.. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think there’s a chance in hell our club higher-ups will allow amount to leave. The PR would be terrible if we or let go of a bunch of homegrown players like Mase, Gallagher, RLC etc in one summer.
But as I’ve said before, with him likely demanding money similar to our very highest earners whilst being one of our worst performers this season they’re kind of in a tough place. A fully fresh and top form Mount is obviously a huge asset. And letting him go to a PL rival to haunt us is a big risk.
You have to be really damn sure that he will rediscover his form from the past 3 years if you give him £200-300k per week.

Awesome news. He is still our best CB and only asks for £110k per week.

None of us doubt that if we sell Rom it will be at a loss. The club will understand this, and can reconcile itself to it. The problem is FFP. Amortisation of transfer fees allows some wins as we've seen, but it can also turn into a trap.
When a player is sold, all of his remaining amortised value counts against FFP for the season during which he is sold. Rom signed a 5 year deal and, for simplicity sake, let's say he cost €100m, This would make his FFP 'cost' €20m a season so, come summer, we will have accounted for 2 x €20m of that fee. If we sell him in the next window we would need to get at least €60m or else we make an FFP loss on him. I'm sure that this trap is why we have sometimes kept players on the books and sent them out on loan long after it was clear they would never play for CFC again.

Chelsea move for £71m ‘monster’ now ‘one to watch’ at Stamford Bridge
    https://www.givemesport.com/88112473-Chelsea-move-dusan-vlahovic-juventus-premier-league-transfer-rumours-graham-potter-stamford-bridge

Chelsea’s interest in Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović is “one to watch” ahead of the summer transfer window at Stamford Bridge, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport.
Graham Potter is likely to look at a multitude of centre-forward targets as he looks to strengthen his attacking department ahead of next season.
Chelsea transfer news – Dušan Vlahović
Having left Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang out of their Champions League squad for the knockout stages, Chelsea now lack a senior first-choice out-and-out centre-forward option, ahead of their two-legged European clash with Borussia Dortmund.
Attacking midfielder Kai Havertz has frequently operated as an auxiliary number nine whilst Raheem Sterling is also capable of playing down the middle for Potter’s side at Stamford Bridge.
However, the former Brighton & Hove Albion head coach is likely to want a striker with experience in leading the line ahead of next season, in which the Blues will want to see a marked improvement from their current ninth-placed standing in the Premier League table.
Transfer insider Dean Jones has recently told GiveMeSport that Chelsea could make a move for Vlahović this summer.
And Jacobs believes that the Blues are interested in signing “a traditional old-fashioned striker” and that the Juventus star could be “one to watch” leading up to the second transfer window of the year.
What has Jacobs said about Chelsea and Vlahović?
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “In terms of incomings, I think that they still may want more of a traditional old-fashioned striker. Dušan Vlahović is one to watch.”
Would Vlahović be a good signing for Chelsea?
Vlahović – who has been described as a “monster” by journalist Carlo Garganese – would likely be an excellent addition to Potter’s squad ahead of next season, having demonstrated an impressive goalscoring record during his time in Serie A.
The 19-cap Serbia international has bagged an impressive 57 goals whilst providing nine assists in 124 Serie A appearances across spells with Fiorentina and current side Juventus.
Despite only playing in 879 minutes worth of top-flight action this campaign, the 23-year-old has still managed to earn himself an average WhoScored rating of 6.93, ranking him as the side’s fifth-best-performing player in the Old Lady squad.
The 6 foot 3 star – who Arsenal reportedly considered making a £71m bid for last month – compares favourably with his positional peers, ranking in the top 20% of forwards across Europe’s big five leagues as well as the Champions League and Europa League for non-penalty goals per 90 minutes (0.50) over the last 365 days, according to FBref.
Therefore, if Chelsea are looking for a top out-and-out goalscorer on the continent, then they may need to look no further than the Belgrade-born talent.

Indeed but I highly doubt we can get rid of Cucurella anytime soon.
As for Chilwell he is good but gets injured way to often.

Badiashile 3 games 3 clean sheets
Felix impressed on debut before red
Mudryk also impressed at Anfield. Won't judge him today, he was sick.
Enzo also very good today especially considering he played alone in MF.
    Even Madueke looked lively.

The idea of Mourinho under an owner like Boehly giving him whatever he asked for would’ve been intriguing a decade ago. But he’s out of touch with modern attacking football.

mobile & decent on the ball & no big mistakes.
can't see why we'd look elsewhere for megabucks before giving the lad a good opportunity 🤷‍♂️.
otherwise why bother paying for youth. There's a top player there 👍
