  1. I was always told the first thing you do is build the spine of the team -goalkeeper, centre half ( halves) and centre forward. I give you Czech/ J.T/ Drogba. We now have no world class goalkeeper, no world class centre back ( since the demise of Thiago) and no world class goal scorer. We are totally reliant on Conor or Cole to spark the team and they are both young players who are still learning. Despite the money spent, we are too weak in key positions and until that is sorted we will remain a “bang average team “
  2. Chelsea v Coventry has got a nice ring to it 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
  3. Great substitution by the manager !!! Or perhaps it was lucky !! We need the win but even if It comes it doesn’t wipe away a truly shocking second half performance
  4. We’ve reverted to type and returned to fannying about with the ball in our own penalty area, trying to make the extra pass all the time and nobody driving forward. Very very poor second half and we will be lucky if we get away with this !!
  5. I just can’t believe that this is even being talked about. What makes us think any decent coaches are forming a queue to join us , unless they want to make a fast buck ? Jose, a definite No No. Poch is the best we are gonna get and we have to give him until at-least Xmas and then review. Those who want shot of him now should be careful what they wish for !!
  6. I for one would have happily taken a point before kick-off . We played with heart and Disasi, who I had written off as bang average, had a great game . We did however get pushed further and further back in the last 20 minutes and I don’t think taking two forward players off and replacing them with defenders helped - especially as neither Chalobah orCasedei have had any minutes recently. We lost any outlet and trying to play 20 minutes in our own penalty area against the firepower and skill of City was always a big ask. But it is was still a point many of us didn’t expect !!
  7. We got rid of a world class manager in Tuchel and then selected poorly in Potter and Lamps. We let a world class leader go in Rudiger — not done much since but for us he was our leader. Very poor transfer record — in recent windows we have never ended up with our supposed first choice , but in the end have settled in the most part for quantity over quality. Surely we have to give Poch longer to sort out the mess that in the most part he inherited. At this stage, who better would want the job ?? As for the City game, dump the obsession with possession — go for their throats and go down giving it a go !!
  8. Agree with many other comments, the win papers over the many great problems that we have. If we try to play possession football against City we will get mullered !! Let’s try and get at them, like we did at Villa and if we go down, let’s go down fighting and shooting, instead of our usual “ pass round in circles” style of play. In the first half Cole, our best player, but a make-do centre forward, had 2 touches in their penalty area and 10+ touches around the half way line — no wonder we struggle to score. Our midfield always take the easy option of passing backwards/sideways!! Let’s give it a go on Saturday and at least if we lose, let’s lose going forward
  9. The first thought of Enzo,Caceido.,Disasi,Gusto,Chilwell is who is behind me that I can pass to. It’s easier than looking for the forward pass or taking people on. Against Villa we broke the mould and took the game to them. Now reverted to style - possession, possession, possession — but that don’t win you football matches
  10. The way we are going,it might be Neil Warnock we need to get in . At-least he specialises in saving teams from relegation 😭😭
  11. I love Lamps totally as a player, but we played awful football when he was manager particularly in his “caretaker” spell. I don’t understand why if we gave him a third shot it would be any different
  12. I think we should be careful what we wish for. If we get rid of Poch, who is gonna want to come ? Lamps was a great player, not a great manager — Jose, surely not. It’s not the manager but the overpaid, gutless , bang average players that need to take responsibility or get sold
  13. To me it’s the so called Sporting Directors we have had in recent times who shoulder most of the blame. We have wasted so much money on players who were never our first choice in the first place — Fofana ( injured before we signed him but we still went ahead), Cucarella, Sterling ( one good game in 10)), Mudryk, Disasi, Jackson etc etc — all average players who combined equal a bang average team. Then, we need to score goals so the major action of the transfer window was to let Broja go to our neighbour. He wasn’t great, but at-least he gave us options. I just don’t understand any of it. Very sad
  14. Nothing seems to change !! We pass and we pass and we pass again — mostly sideways and backwards. Nobody takes people on and creates any space — Raheem had a couple of good games but has now reverted to previous mediocrity,as have most of his teammates !! No passion, no spark = no goals . We totally got what we deserved = nothing !!
  15. Declan Rice for one, Henderson or Pickford would have been better than Sanchez, Ivan Toney ( January is only 3 months away) and Jude Bellingham to name 4. We wouldn’t have got them all ,if any, but might have been better than signing multiple bang average players
  16. I don’t think we should be too despondent after 4 games.Yet again we have injuries to key players and the owners decided to go the route of buying young talent in the hope that they develope in to worldbeaters. A very risky strategy — I believe 4 world class signings down the spine of the team — goalkeeper, centre half, attacking midfielder and another forward — instead of 20 or so potentials would have made more sense.’. But we are where we are,so all we can do is give them a chance and hope that Poch really can perform miracles 🙏🙏
  17. We had a period in the first half of about 25-30 minutes where we played absolutely exceptional football. It was what we weremissing last season and really was refreshing to see. Quite agree with comment above from “We Hate Scouse”. I think we have to accept that this new young team will have periods of great football and periods where it just doesn’t happen. We should have taken 3points today and didn’t. But hopefully we can build on the first half in the coming weeks 🤞🤞
  18. More optimistic than I have been for a long time . Only one thing saddens me and many will disagree — but that one thing is Lukaku !! If we continue to play the way we did on Saturday,he could be amazing in this team. Don’t get me wrong — I never want to see him anywhere near Chelsea ever again — but we paid £97 million for him and we need another striker. If we continue to get the ball forward quickly as per Saturday I believe things could have turned out differently.Sad it’s too late now !!
  19. Normally I would say the result is everything, but yesterday the performance meant more than the result. For the first time in a long while we moved the ball forward quickly, we gave our centre forward a chance by getting him the ball early and we chased and never let Liverpool settle. At times we actually looked like a team !!! Best Premiership display for a long while — not the finished article but real reasons for Hope !!!
  20. It happens every year !!!! We name our top targets, spend weeks going round in circles trying to sign them, miss out at the last minute and end up signing our 3rd,4th or even 5th choice. Last year it was Kuende, this year Caicedo . City for instance keep quiet, decide early on their top target and go out and get him. We never learn
  21. I would just like to wish “ Azpi” all the very best as he moves on to Italy. He has been a really consistent player and although pace told in the end, I for one wish him all the very best for the future. If he goes I will also be very sad to see Mason leave, he lost his way last season and injuries haven’t helped but I believe Poch would get him back to his best. As for most of the rest being talked about as leaving, goodbye and lets move on !!
  22. Good luck to Poch !! Not sure with our record with managers and even more abysmal record in the transfer market, that we were gonna attract anybody better. He’s got a major rebuild on his hands but at least we surely can’t get any worse,so the only way is up !! May the gods be with him 🤞🤞🤞
  23. Ziyech smiling as he comes off, just shows the attitude of many of the current team. Very sad
  24. Trouble is we are currently so poor in every area of the pitch, it’s not just a goal scorer that we need . And we need a leader because we definitely don’t have one at the moment
  25. It is just truly dreadful and very sad . Apart from Hall, who at least has tried, the rest are not worthy of the shirt .
