What? --- (ANSA) - Rome, June 8 - AS Roma and Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi and Milan's Jewish community came out in support of Mario Balotelli Friday after racist hate sites seized on news that his adoptive mother has Jewish roots. "We are shocked," said Daniele Nahum, vice president of the Milan Jewish Community. "Cases of this sort in the past year are numerous. We say enough with these sites that should be shut down". The 21-year-old forward, who has Ghanaian roots, was on the Azzurri's pre-tournament visit to Auschwitz when it emerged that his Italian adoptive mother has Jewish roots. Racist blogs said "as well as a ni**er, he's a Jew too". Balotelli said in a recent interview with France Football magazine that he would walk off the pitch if he is racially abused at Euro 2012, amid concerns about possible violence and racism at the tournament in Poland and Ukraine that kicks off Sunday. "We haven't spoken about it yet," said De Rossi, "but if something happens we need to all be united in defence of Mario and (Angelo) Ogbonna," a centre back of Nigerian decent. Italy coach Cesare Prandelli, who has said Italy will stop playing during Euro 2012 if Balotelli is subjected to any monkey chants, said the anti-Semitic incident "isn't even worthy of a response".
