How many goals has Lukaku scored for Chelsea, tell me? How has Lukaku ever been a vital player for Chelsea? If he was staying here he wouldn't even be the number one striker. I'll say it again, the sale of Lukaku doesn't make us a selling club at all. That is utter nonsense. Also, nice jibe to a club legend that is Drogba. What about Lukaku being dropped for a 19 year old Origi for Belgium? Ignoring that are you?
-
I'm not making it up. Yesterday on the Sky Sports News tv channel they were saying that 'Sky Sources: Lukaku closing in on permanent move to Everton'.
-
Lukaku has made a total of 15 (mostly subs) appearances for us, he's barely a CFC player at all to begin with. Selling club? Get over it, we aren't selling players that are key to our manager's system are we? Nonsense.
-
Daily Star? There are reputable sources in Belgium that have confirmed that he is going, plus Sky Sports themselves were saying a move is very close.

I do remember you being quite vocal on Sturridge too, but regarding no one ever saying Sturridge could be the completely striker - quite the contrary actually - I've always personally said from the get go that Sturridge 'has it all' as a striker - pace, height, killer instinct, finishing, technical ability, close control dribbling, link up play etc... That is akin to saying someone is a complete striker. I just don't ever see Romelu being a true complete striker. Lukaku's flaws are his flaws, and they aren't ones that are easily fixable like Sturridge (i.e. being less selfish). Me saying Romelu won't ever be a true completely striker doesn't mean I'm saying he won't improve as a player, of course he will - he is very young and is already an established PL striker. Under the guidance of a coach like Martinez he'll definitely improve further, but never will he be great technically, thus never a complete striker. Lukaku will be a very good powerful striker type, but what needs to be understood is that he wasn't ready to not be number 1 here and that he'd rather go to a club like Everton which he could potentially use as a stepping stone (but personally I don't ever see him going past that level at the moment - maybe he'll change my mind though) thus selling him was the best option for the club and for himself as he doesn't really want to be here. Since he's done nothing at CFC I have no major qualms with it at all. I can sort of understand your grievances but honestly, I don't think Romelu will develop into one of the best in Europe. We shall see how it goes though.

Come on... Don't make things up. Mourinho pretty much left Madrid on his own accord. Perez said that it was Mourinho's decision. They still remain good friends. It was a mutual decision, he wasn't booted out.
-
I criticised Mourinho for some games last season but I support him with this move as I have with others and vice versa. I call it how I see it. The Lukaku sale has nothing to do with people blindly following Mourinho, people can think for themselves you do know that?

troll detected.

Agreed. IMO It has nothing to do with Mourinho's apparent "grudge" against Lukaku (one that has been over exaggerated by the media tenfold). I think Romelu just wants to go to a decent club where he's undisputed number one and CFC have thus sold an asset that doesn't really want to be here for a very good price, which is fine for all parties involved.
-
Just wait until the end of the transfer window before concluding that he isn't going... For all we know the club might be looking at selling him.
-
So we should sign a world class striker as back up to Costa incase he gets injured? I don't think so. It's unhealthy and pointless, because both would want to play the most minutes as the number 1 striker. We do need to get a better 2nd choice option but Cavani would not make sense at all.

Completely forgot about Bentekkers. Yes please.

Completely not true and the situation between Sturridge and Lukaku is different. I for example was gutted to see Sturridge go, from the get go I was and remained one of his strongest, vocal supporters (check the Sturridge thread if you don't believe me) but I'm not too fussed about Lukaku leaving tbh, especially since we got a nice price for him. Sturridge was messed about by the club. He sacrificed his game under AVB and played on the RW in an unnatural position, and was one of our key players under AVB for a while - he actually finished as top scorer for us in the league despite playing out of position that year, and despite not basically not playing at all under RDM after AVB was sacked. Sturridge has always been a technical player and very complete, people's problem with him wasn't his mouth, it was that he seemed too selfish on the pitch. Romelu's situation is very different. Lukaku has not contributed anything at all to our club and was too scared to fight for his place last year (unlike Sturridge who was a real casualty in the 'Torres must play at all times' situation), hence why he went out on loan to a more comfortable environment where he'd 100% be the number one striker. Yes, he's scored goals for Everton and WBA but that's not his problem, everyone knows Romelu will get goals wherever he goes. He has some real, technical weaknesses to his game that he will never really fully fix, and because of that he'll never be a true complete striker. Romelu clearly wanted to go - that's more than apparent because he clearly has said that on multiple occasions - unlike Sturridge who only said that he deserves a chance as a striker at CFC - those two are very different things. Sturridge really wanted to play for CFC and did almost everything, whilst Romelu hasn't done anything for us. He doesn't get along with Mourinho, isn't willing to fight it out with Costa, Torres and Drogba, has been angling for a move from our club for ages so the best option by far is to sell him now whilst we can get close to Β£30m for someone who doesn't even want to be here. Romelu will definitely be a good striker, but it isn't a certainty at all that he'll be one of the best in Europe. He still has a lot of developing to do in quite a few aspects of his game. I personally think Everton will be his ceiling though, whilst I always thought from day one that Sturridge could be a WC striker (he's not there yet though). I don't have the same feeling about Lukaku so I say adios easily, because he has done nothing here.
-
Debatable. I don't think Lukaku has done anything better than Remy has in the PL. If you say he has the potential to be better than Remy, that's different.
-
It did lighten up my mood temporarily, but then the realisation that he might be 2nd choice here set in.
-
Not too keen on Lavezzi (as a striker anyway). Remy would be a very nice option though. Β£8.5m, wages would be okay, wouldn't be a bad signing at all.
-
I really have no idea tbh Sting. The strikers market is really scarce. I thought someone like Origi would've been a very interesting project, but not as 2nd choice. Can see us bringing in someone like Loic Remy tbh.
-
The topic will remain open regardless, it'll just be moved to ex players.
-
I'm fine with the deal as long as we bring in a viable, different type of 2nd choice striker. A pure technical CF would be very nice.
-
Doesn't make sense to bring in Cavani after we've already got Costa. It won't happen.
-
If the Β£28.5m fee is true then the club have done very, very well.
