  4. Ranking each Premier League club for ‘dark arts’ https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5788866/2024/09/27/premier-league-club-dark-arts-ranked/ snip 1. Newcastle United Newcastle have a reputation for dark arts under Eddie Howe that has been very well earned. Assistant manager Jason Tindall remains one of the league’s biggest wind-up merchants, playing the role of Howe’s attack dog in the fourth official’s ear, generally being active and vocal on the touchline. Goalkeeper Nick Pope is prone to getting an “injury” at opportune moments when Newcastle need to have a breather and Howe needs to have a word with his team. You can almost guarantee that Fabian Schar will go down with an apparent head injury in most matches, yet never comes off because of them, while Jacob Murphy is very much a s***houser — he waved Southampton’s Duje Caleta-Car off the field when he was sent off against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup a couple of seasons ago. And a couple of seasons ago Jamaal Lascelles picked up two separate cautions while warming up on the touchline for delaying opposition throw-ins. In April, after Newcastle won at Brentford, their manager Thomas Frank was furious with Newcastle’s tactics: “We need to look into the dark arts of football and be aware of the sportsmanship,” he said in a press conference, while also revealing that Brentford’s staff were more vocal with the fourth official because “we know that Newcastle have that strategy”, calling out Tindall specifically. Bruno Guimaraes was, by a distance, the most fouled player in the Premier League last season and he’s at it again this year, with 22 fouls won — more than any other. Second on the list? Anthony Gordon on 17. Newcastle remain the standard-bearers for the phrase by the philosopher Joey Tribbiani: “If you’re going to do something wrong, do it right.” xSH – 10/10 xSH means 'expected shithousery'
  5. we will have a hell of time winning v Manure and Forest with no CF
  6. Straight red cards for dissent will result in a two-match ban, while dangerous tackles or violent conduct will result in a three-match ban which can be raised to four or more games in extreme cases.

  10. Exclusive: Chelsea exploring shock move to bring back Antonio Rudiger https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/tag/exclusive-newsnow/exclusive-Chelsea-transfer-news-antonio-rudiger-real-madrid-steve-kay FootballTransfers understands that Chelsea are exploring a shock move to bring Antonio Rudiger back to Stamford Bridge. We have been told that the Blues have reached out to the defender's camp in recent days to be kept informed on Rudiger’s future at Real Madrid, with early groundwork being laid for a potential summer swoop. The West London side are understood to be "ready to negotiate" if given the green light for a move that would reunite the German superstar with his former club three years after his painful departure on a free transfer. Rudiger is generally happy at Real Madrid, but a change of scenery could be needed, with sources close to the player informing us that the 32-year-old has become increasingly difficult to deal with in recent months. One source familiar with recent developments revealed: “It’s been tense. He’s clashed with people in his inner circle, and it’s made discussions on certain matters extremely difficult.” Most notably, Rudiger is said to have fallen out with his brother and agent, Sahr Senesie, just before Christmas. The exact reason for the dispute is unknown, but it became so heated that the Los Blancos star threatened to cut ties entirely. Chelsea not worried about Rudiger's personality Despite the personal drama, Chelsea believe the German international remains a world-class asset. “He’s a leader, a warrior, exactly what this Chelsea dressing room needs,” a club source said. “There’s no fear about his personality. If anything, that fire is what we’re missing.” And there may be cause for optimism. Rudiger previously spoke with deep affection about his time in London, stating in 2022: "Chelsea will always be in my heart. London will always be my home." While Real Madrid have yet to take a firm stance, the situation could escalate quickly. In recent months, there has been talk of a potential contract extension, but in light of the player's antics in the Copa del Rey final, which resulted in a six-game ban, the LaLiga giants could reconsider his role in the team. Moreover, with Eder Militao nearing a return to the pitch and Madrid showing interest in Arsenal’s William Saliba and Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, the two-time Champions League winner's position may come under threat.
  11. more Fichajes rumours yet another left-footed AMF/winger!!
  12. I agree, and up until 3 months ago, the kid was only 18! he has crazy upside Gittens is soon 21yo (obviously still young as well, but has far more topflight gametime) George may well be a better (perhaps far better) player at that age (21) than Gittens and Tyrique doesn't cost us 50m, 60m quid (at minimum, as Dortmund are looking to get 80-100 million euros for him, ffs.)
  13. watch them without Partey, and now realise that Partey is now in his 30s and until the past 6, 9 months or so never lived up to his hype odds are somewhat decent that Partey may soon revert back to norm and also factor in that Martín Zubimendi is streets ahead of Partey in most aspects of play Zubi is a poor man's Rodri, to a degree I rate the hell out of him
  14. ADIDAS X UNHEARDOF Rivalry Low Grandma's Couch "Mother's Day" https://unheardofbrand.com/blogs/news/adidas-x-unheardof-rivalry-low-grandmas-couch-mothers-day The Last Rivalry. Mother’s Day is typically a joyous holiday, but for some folks it can be particularly hard. Especially the first Mother’s Day after losing a loved one. Be it a grandmother, mother, auntie, sister, or just someone special in your life, it is important to not dwell in grief, but remember the good times we spent with them. UNHEARDOF wanted to create a shoe that encourages everyone to stay positive during hard times, and to always stop and smell the flowers. For one last time, Unheardof is revisiting its storied Grandma’s Couch Rivalry Low to celebrate the life of their matriarch Naomi Phillips. Sitting atop a gum rubber midsole, the Final Rivalry features premium Baby Pink pig suede in tribute to her favorite flower, the orchid. Building on the orchid theme, the iconic 3 Stripes are alternating green and red pig suede, representing the orchid’s stems and growth. The panels are an update of the beloved embroidered floral couch pattern with a completely new design, unique to each shoe. The Final Rivalry further honors Naomi with embossed examples of her handwriting. In addition to her handwritten Adidas branding on the heel tab, Phil Lipschutz’s loving tribute to her states “Dear Naomi” at the forefoot, and the phrase he signed every card with; “Love, Always and Forever” on the heel counter. A fitting way for Phil to give Grandma her flowers one last time!
