  2. so disappointed in him and he is a grown-ass man (36yo) not some stupid little youth player 👎🏽 Nemanja Matic given four-game ban after covering anti-homophobia logo on Lyon shirt https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6406069/2025/06/05/nemanja-matic-ban-lyon/ Nemanja Matic has been given a four-match ban after covering an anti-homophobia logo on his shirt while playing for Lyon. The incident occurred when Lyon beat Angers 2-0 in the 34th and final Ligue 1 matchday last month. For International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia on May 17, French clubs customised their kits with a rainbow patch on their shirt sleeves. Matic, 36, came on as a substitute for Tanner Tessman in the 69th minute of the game with a piece of white material appearing to cover the campaign’s rainbow logo. Another symbol — the word ‘homophobia’ in French crossed out with a red line and ‘football’ underneath it — was not covered. The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), which governs French football, announced on Wednesday that Matic had been given a two-match ban with a further two matches suspended. Matic’s Lyon contract expires at the end of this month. It was similarly widely reported that Le Havre’s Ahmed Hassan also covered up the logo when his side faced Strasbourg. The LFP also announced Hassan had received the same punishment as Matic. Both players, the LFP said, agreed in their hearings to participate “in an awareness-raising campaign on the fight against homophobia in football” within six months. It’s hard to live a double life’ – Josh Cavallo on being an LGBT+ footballer Josh Cavallo opens up on the positive reception he's had since coming out and the pain of keeping the secret for so long “Football has a massive platform, and the (French Football) Federation is determined to put this issue on the clubs’ and supporters’ agenda,” France’s sports minister Marie Barsacq said after the incidents, via Reuters. “Homophobic insults and behaviour are no longer acceptable. Society has evolved, and the language in football must change with it. There’s a full range of sanctions available, and they must be applied.” Last year, Monaco midfielder Mohamed Camara was banned for four matches by the LFP after appearing to place white tape over an anti-homophobia message on his shirt. 3. it was 6 and 6 (in 1900 minutes) PLUS he had 14 goals, 10 asissts overall in 3300 minutes also a £67.5m base transfer fee plus £8.4 to £16.8m in potential add-ons is hardly an outrageous price for a 24yo truly world class winger how much Real Madrid do you watch? I watch a lot, and he is deffo a world class winger the last pure winger we had at his level or above was Hazard before that none for ages
  4. Liam Delap will not be named in Lee Carlsey's England squad tomorrow for the U21 Euros in Slovakia, as Chelsea's new striker will be going to the Club World Cup.
  5. Joao Felix/Trade deal? https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/i/165073278/joao-felixtrade-deal So as you would have heard about yesterday, Benfica want to bring Felix back to the club this summer. At the moment, they are trying to loan him without any option or obligation to sell. Chelsea ideally want to sell and are keeping the door open to other suitors coming in. A dry loan deal is not fully being ruled out at Chelsea but this obviously does not help them unless Benfica take on all of his wages during the loan spell. SPTC sources have heard that Chelsea are considering going back to Benfica and speaking about a potential trade deal for one of Antonio Silva or Tomas Araujo to arrive at Chelsea as part of an unofficial swap deal. We’ve heard that Chelsea REALLY want at least one new centre back to bring to the CWC. This does not yet mean the Jarrad Branthwaite deal or other interests such as Marc Guehi is dead though. Although so far, Everton are desperately trying to keep Branthwaite and are trying to persuade him to stay for another season.
